V2.3 Stable

As much as I do like the new Biome Gear in place of the Biome Badges, I feel like it is really weird to wear all of them at once. I could not picture having a respirator, a sunhat, a wool hat, and *whatever we are wearing to protect against radiation* on my head all at the same time. I know that players can equip and unequip them as desired, but I feel like it would be more immersive/realistic to have to pick one. Players could keep them in their pocket/drone/vehicle to swap out or keep them at the base to just take what is needed. That would add some strategy to the gameplay.

I suppose it is a lot like the Spawn Near Bag topic earlier in this forum: It would be great if players had the option to toggle one Biome Gear at a time vs. stacked. Also, it would of course be cool to have the option that it is visible on the character.

Personally, I hate games that require you to carry around different outfits to swap each time you change location. I prefer just having it all there so I can ignore it after completing it. I won't even change the armor here just to get bonuses for anything. The most I'll do is swap to my desert vulture at a trader when buying/selling once I have that book, but that is because I carry it with me anyhow. If I didn't use that weapon, I wouldn't even do that.

Anyhow, I think they are spending enough time trying to redo things. No need to keep redoing them over and over. Time to move on, imo.

And I thought I was lazy! 😜 All kidding aside, I do enjoy that sort of inventory management for dealing with environmental and weather hazards; preparation is the most important part of survival, after all.

However... I think those kinds of really niche features are better left to modders at this point. Or maybe once TFP has bandits and story mode finished, they can work on some sort of Survival Mode patch for players like me. But they can't keep screwing around perpetually with this kind of stuff and ever hope to get bandits, dynamic events or story mode finished.

I'd like to see temperature and wetness and other things make an official comeback, but those have now all been modded back into the game and so it's no personal loss to me if they never make it back into vanilla.

Hello community,
I'm having trouble starting the game, after updating to V2.3 (b9).

When I try to launch the game using the 7dlauncher.exe file, I get the following error message!

I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling the game several times, and checking for errors through Steam, but the error persists!

Does anyone have any ideas what else I can do so I can play normally again?

I wonder if that's the date your system uses as the "beginning of time" and counts seconds from there. If so, and your motherboard's battery were dead, or something like that, then perhaps your system is reporting that as the current time....? (That seems unlikely, but thought I'd mention it.)

Someone else who had that was able to run the game by using the game's EXE instead launching it from Steam. Maybe that will help.

yo uso tu prefabs en 2.3 y va bien , ni avisos , ni errores , al menos de momento ... Por cierto gran trabajo ZZ

Nope...nothing like that. The System time is correct!

I can run it, thats not the problem. but I´m unable to start the launcher to delete old data or activate EAC :(

Got it!
I simply manually moved all the directories in the 7 days to die %Appdata% so I wouldn't delete anything important, repaired the game again and now I can launch 7dlauncher.exe.

I think the file was apparently blocked somehow and couldn't be replaced by Steam or something :)

I am glad that I am not the only one who thought it was a good idea.

I would not want it to delay Bandits or anything either. It just does not seem that it would be a tremendous amount of work to make it that way. Biome Badges were already one slot, though the newest badge in the progression apparently counted for and deleted the previous badge. Now it is a four-square slot with assigned gear to occupy each slot. I do not believe that it would be too challenging to modify it to one slot that can take any of the gear but not more than one. Eh, we will see. Maybe there will be a Survival Mode option in the future.

I miss temperature and wetness, too. I liked having to swap out my poncho and duster/puffer coat depending on the climate in previous versions of the game. I am glad that they have been modded back into the game, but, as a console player, I do not have access to those. **sigh**

Yeah, same. I might make a farmer set to wear while tending my garden but otherwise I make one set and wear that. Also don't like the magic helmet mods, so I made a mod where you can craft a combination mod with all of them, no more switching. On the nexus. In general I don't like the "magic" they've added to the game. I like armor is armor.

I live in Northern Arizona where we sometimes get more snow than most other parts of the country, and Phoenix is just a few hours drive to the south. I say this because wearing cold weather clothing and going to Phoenix to sweat it out has happened, and the opposite is true where friends have come up to visit me in shorts and sandals just to turn into a popsicle. Having all of the gear in the Character Menu and not visible on the character model does alleviate that element of immersion, but I do like wearing what is needed or suitable for a situation. I do don Miner Gear when I am mining, Farmer Gear when farming, etc. I guess everyone just plays different, so the suggestion from EvilPolygons about a Survival Mode would be most appropriate, at a later date after Bandits. Er are going to have to play how they release the game for us (Mods aside), and I do not know which way the majority of player would prefer it: All Biome Gear at once or change as needed.

I agree. I would rather them work on other things for the time being.

Would love a true survival mode like a15

I like to think that the armor abiltys are just gear and stuff that help you in your mission. The only one I would say is basicly magic is the preacher set. With biker gear it makes sense aside from the boots slightly, nerd makes sense, raider makes sense. Etc

Some i think just need new abiltys like Ranger and farmer. Imo they could have been worst like fallout new vegas/stalker. But still I hope some day they will work on armor again and add a few more types

Anytime something is abstracted by the game it is up to the player to fill in missing details with their imagination. One person will assume we are eating the jars every time we drink and someone else assumes the jar is put away into your supply and is just always available as needed. One person will assume we are wearing all four hazard gear sets at once and someone else will assume we are wearing one at a time but all four are always available once they are crafted. One person will assume we are extracting 30 canisters of gasoline from a car and someone else will assume we are extracting 30 units of gas and keeping it in a container we always have on hand.

Your imagination explains most of the perks the armor provides as being from gear and tools included in the kit but just not shown. Others can’t imagine that and so call it magic.

I partly agree with you: there are some 'game conventions', like the ones you mentioned. However, there are also many things that even a person with a rich imagination cannot explain as anything other than magic. For example, a candy that allows a person to survive a fall from the very top of Dishong Tower without even noticing it. Or literal vampirism ability (Siphoning Strikes, Strength Mastery perks): your bleeding wounds heal instantly after you hit a brightly-glowing blue charged zombie on the head with your burning sledgehammer. And don't even remind me that yetis exist alongside humans in this world... I think we can agree that there is a lot of magic in the game right now.

That's fair enough...there's a little "magic" in every game really. If it does more than a mundane IRL object does...it is "magic".
Those mechanics can add a lot of fun. THEN we get the realism arguments...Nothing wrong with wanting a harder challenge either. except when it is being forced onto other people.

I don't want them to remove the armour abilities from the existing sets, but, I still would like the one set of Plain armours (with the same amount of mod slots).

What would you like added? I am assuming you have some good ideas to go with your suggestion...you normally do.
