I find it interesting they set storms to 0

I find it interesting that they turn the storms off for default..doesn't that defeat the purpose of the update..ill be keeping them on but maybe they will overhaul the storms in some way then turn them back on by default..

Because they aren't perfect but I for one love the part we're zombies start running during the day when the storm comes and I hold out agents them

My guess is they'll return it to default 'on' when they and the chronic complainers like where it feels in 2.4, 2.5, etc.

I had some dislikes when they first were implemented but all the updates since have improved them, and now I've removed the storm mod I had- which was just adding immunity effect to smoothies, but I like shelter as a environmental coping mechanic a lot more than a consumable.

Probably got tired of the whining and moaning
But you could just turn it off normally lmao 🤣

Agreed but I think storms could have there own effects and stuff like slowing you down, bluring vision, increase zombie spawns/types etc

Movement and visibility debuffs I think would be a bad route, feedback-from-playerbase-wise; anything more than 10% would be seen as oppressive and crippling and they might as well just stay home and that's literally destroying playability and choice because they're stuck at home and there's literally nothing else you can do ever because you might as well wait in your base because it'd be faster to go out and do something once the storm goes away and TFP literally gave their pet hamster lung cancer. I think there were already complaints about the edge-of-screen effects when you're experiencing the biome hazard and there's also nausea effects to consider, so blurred vision would also be a perilous path.

Mind you, I wouldn't mind some additional (non-damaging) effects from storms to make them spicy (hyperstimulated zombies during storms was a fantastic choice), but I think 2.X's surge of backlash is going to put hesitancy onto changes and ideas that could be good.

For a moment, I wondered if they could add a beta branch for prototyping gameplay changes separate from experimental, but then I accepted that anything they even remotely suggest - even as a joke or buried in disclaimers of 'NOT GUARANTEED FOR FUTURE RELEASE' - is going to be interpreted as 100% factual future addition and 7DTD is 100% destroyed in the future because __ change is 1,000% objectively bad and going to give their other pet hamster explosive diarrhea.

It states in the patch notes that they did that as a temporary thing until they finish updating storms so people who haven't yet experienced the storms will experience them at their "best" rather than as they are now. The plan is for them to be enabled by default in 2.4 unless something delays things.

In short, it is a change for people who haven't played recently or are just getting the game rather than people who have been playing since 2.0.

I agree.... I personally, want storms to be punishing. Not deadly; I really dislike the damaging component that was present. But I like having other non damaging effects like you mentioned. I want it to be a choice with consequences should you decide to go out in a storm.

except the whiners COULD turn it off and didn't want to do the excruciating labour of changing one setting. this is just something you see everywhere. people want the default setting to cater specifically to only them and everyone else can use the settings buttons

I like weather, just not as implemented....and they should NOT increase spawns.

I see nothing wrong with having to hide from the weather, whether is seek shelter or make shelter. Only one thing open for discussion (from my PoV :)) would be length of time they should or should not last. I would ASSume min/maxers would like a lenght of "0" while survivalist would be okay with a few minutes.

Gear must be used in order to mitigate the effects, but should never be an absolute 0 effect. Unless is just "Off" as a user setting, sort of like Z block damage, which you cannot turnoff (dont know if you can mod it out).
