While working in the World Editor I see all of these "parts" like fences on some of the yards in poi's or might be the tile as well as a Single Street Light on a light pole on a tile. My questions is and nothing against the design team but shouldn't the tile be fixed or poi instead of just adding a "part" to fix it? What is the added cost to performance of said "parts" in total on a map? I'm just curious.
I don't think A16 is an overall better version of the game. I miss some of the systems that were in place back then, like LBD / wellness / temperature / assembly... But I know A16 had plenty of flaws and the game is now clearly more "polished".They can't, and the fact that they're in this business, you gotta assume they understand that.
But let me say this...I just got finished with my 50 day A16 run and HOLY MOLY, people gotta be smoking the most powerful of crack rocks to think it's a better version of the game. I went back to V2.2 yesterday and it felt like I got paroled or something. It's so much more fun and engaging. People that say "TFP don't know what they're doing" are actually the ones that don't know what they're doing.
The current version of the game (A21 to now) is actually A GAME! I don't know what to consider A16. An experiment? A not so fleshed out demo? A time wasting simulator?
People say that they want A16 with current day graphics, but the only thing of value in A16 is how it looks. Not the texture quality, but some aspects of the lighting, the grittiness, the super thick fog (even though the fog in 2.2 is pretty dam good), the color grading, etc. It has more of a horror feel to it.
I hope TFP don't go too far in trying to revert what we have now to what the Steam review bombers want, though I'm sure they won't.
They just gotta fix the friggin' brightness below 50% indoors during the day. It gets too dark indoors! I also discovered if you're outside and stand up against an exterior wall, the game registers you as indoors and it starts getting dark OUTSIDE! It's KILLING ME...literally. Big Mama killed me because of it.
My only issue with how they develop the game is their dial goes from 0-1000 with no in betweens.I thought, with the town hall, that they understood they needed to stop for minute, talk to us, reassess what they are doing, and then finish the game.
I wasn't looking forward to another delay, but, felt one was necessary, to get the game back on course.
So yeah, I agree, I thought they should be gathering opinions from those willing to give one...apparently they are not doing that.
just like they are not talking on their own forum. In all honesty It looks like they dropped 2.3, two weeks ago, and went on vacation.
You have a much higher opinion of TFP than I do, I don't believe they have a master plan. They are still imagineering this game.
It would have been great if they had had the money to just make the game THEY wanted...and THEN sold it to us. Instead they crowd funded...and it's taken years and years and still is not done...which meant people were bound to get attached to what they had...not what the game WILL BE...someday...when they figure it out. I agree, given those conditions, it is impossible to please everyone.
At this point I just want the 2.0 fixes so I have something to play while I wait patiently until Q4 2026 for 3.0
Out of curiosity, besides 'waiting' what value do you find in storms? I turned them off on my server because it literally just caused us to stand around and wait early game and not be able to drive. Later game, I can fly through it no problem and a medkit negates any damage effects. I don't see more zombies spawning and if the ones that are there or do spawn get a boost it seems negligible. I've got max zombies set to 75 and difficultly maxed on our server. Storms just felt totally pointless beside forcing a stand around and wait early game. Some thoughts (some random) about V2.3 experimental
- Not a fan that you can wait out storms in unlocked biomes in a shelter and not have to worry about the biome effects. With POIs being all over the place, you don't have to prepare a lot of biome gear to wait out the storm. I actually enjoyed having to either wait it out (if I had enough supplies on hand to craft more) or leave so not to get caught up in a storm too long in the biome
1) Environment Variety: with storms on you get something different from the environment instead of the same environment we’ve had for ten years. It adds to the feeling of the world.Out of curiosity, besides 'waiting' what value do you find in storms? 2) Job Spice: Not every job has outdoor areas but some do and even those that don’t there were times stepping outside rather than fighting in close quarters could help. Storms disrupt that and add a damaging effect you have to watch while outside battling. It adds a factor to jobs.
3) Travel Challenge: once a storm warning hits you have 1 minute of free travel time to go somewhere. Waiting is a choice but another is opening your map and selecting a POI some distance away and racing the storm to get there. I love racing to a destination while watching the storm gather around me and then clearing the POI while it rages outside.

The real kicker is the "No Options" inside the actual Options panel..."Optional Option" is definitely my favorite.
I am not the original poster of that pic of the options. It is from years ago. I wish I knew who posted it so I could give them credit. I think I may have used it at least a couple of times over the years as the subject keeps popping up.![]()
sounds like several problems at the same time. I will list a few things you can check out.
Graphics. While the game says "recommended hardware" on steam, you have to laugh at those recommendations. double everything that even says "RAM". Both pure memory AND graphics. My machine has a 3060 with 12 GB VRAM installed and 64 GB RAM installed. while impressive, my 64GB RAM is "only" DDR4, meaning they are slower than most today. I also have a 5700G processor. I still use certain settings on a much lower setting than what is recommended by GeForce experience.
the HDD. Both on the server and the client machines. if they are mechanical in nature, there is only one way to put it. Out of its misery. It is preferred to use a SSD or even M.2 disc today.
The best way to descreibe it is, back when the i7 came out, people were always saying "what CPU does the server have", and would be "ok" when they heard i7... Regardless if it was 1st gen or 7th gen. They just assumed it was awesome, because it was an i7.
Does the hardware actually work together? Meaning, are all the hardware able to talk to eachother in a civilized manner? Something in the matter of cramming a square block into a round hole.
Also check if the server has enabled the XPM thingie in BIOS. That enables RAM to run as they should. Not sure if XPM is the correct thing to enable or not, I just "do it" without thinking about it.
lastly, there is the client game settings. While you may run the game on a GTX 9999 with 200 gb VRAM, but in the end, there are certain setting that are just garbage.
SSAO - Disable it.
Grass distance - Set it to near
Rendering distance (this one totally sucks up memory and GPU power) Set it to medium.
Particles. - 80% or medium. w/e that doesnt turn it into crap.
reflections - one step down from recommended.
V-Sync - Kill it.
Anything that you can tweak in regards to "looking nice", should be lowered, untill it becomes ugly. if possible, put it 1 step above ugly, so you can also enjoy the visual effects, the game has to offer.
On a sidenote, if your machine is a few years old, I also strongly recommend that you factory reset it, so you get rid of a serious amount of irrelevant software. I just checked my screen shots folder. in a span of 30 months, I have accumulated 5GB of junk. Not to mention all the crap I have from other games (Aslain mod pack for world of warships and other mods for other games, that I just redownload, once there is a new version out).
Doing the factory reset, also means you need to DL an ISO file onto a flashdrive. When you reset it, there is an option that doesnt require a flashdrive, ignore that one. The one with the flashdrove, is the better option (also takes much longer to finish). Dont forget to have your drivers ready for the motherboard etc etc..
Finally, I am sorry for this long ■■■ post, but my brain went into overdrive![]()
There's your problem right there. You logged out before 04:00 so technically, the horde wasn't done yet. You have to be in for the full length, from 22:00 until 04:00, even if zombies stop spawning. It won't be a problem for the following horde nights since they will last until 04:00; only the first horde night stops early, possibly to give you a break for the first one.I've run into an issue that I'm unsure of in 2.3 exp. I'm only running a couple of xml mods that give me actual food/water gauges and trader open all night. None of those should interfere with this particular challenge. I'm on day 10, and just noticed that my 'Survive 1 Blood Moon' challenge shows incomplete even though I've certainly done my first blood moon... twice. So, I love long, long days and long, lovely horde nights which meant that, on day 7, my last wave was over at about 0120ish. So, I did a couple repairs, picked up my loot, logged out and back in to restart horde night, just like I've done countless other times. So, I'm getting biome challenges done a few days later and notice that my 'Survive 1 Blood Moon' didn't show as complete. I did NOT die... I only logged out and back in. Is that something that changed recently and I just didn't notice it, or is it something that needs a report because, search as I might, I can't find the proper log for that session so, I can't really report it validly. Then again, I just could have never noticed it being an issue before so, there's that.
