PC Why did you ruin your game?

I can't help but feel that your problem there is the 'exploding' part... I mean you wouldn't have much left that's usable. Just a bloody mist and bone fragments.
It didn't always use to do that.

Twice a day tap F-S-F-S with a turn in between (open, loot all, twice). That's the new and improved "water management" for me. With a permanent stack of murkies in the inventory - gonna get some from the next place I go to anyway, wherever I go. Cook from there as needed.

I don't think I can call that "management" even on the macroest of levels.. :)
That's a very good way of dealing with it. At least it's something you have to think about

no, it died in July of last year. I tried to enjoy what it has become; but the direction the game is going is trash, and if you look around I'm willing to bet money hundreds (if not thousands) of people that used to play would agree with me
Okay.... So hundreds of thousands agree with you? That is a very low percent of the total number of people who play this game. So by your statement, most people don't agree with you. I think that is probably true.

Yes, some things need adjusted. They do that with every major update and are doing it now with storms and hazards. But the game is still good and still popular. If you want to discuss why you personally don't like it, then that is fine. But over generalizing things usually makes your statements untrue no matter what conversation you are having.

Also remember that you may not like some change or new feature, but many others will like it. That doesn't invalidate your opinion, but it does mean that your opinion about the game is only an opinion and other people will feel differently.

is less complaint of the new features (there are good things like visible vehicle modification) and more mourning what was lost along the way, there's nothing i can say that hasn't already been said better in a steam review, it all used to better it just feels streamlined to the lowest common denominator when the attention to detail is what made it good
They make mods for that
and no they don't ive spent hours scouring for a legacy armor mod

Your website seems to mirror your complete lack of dedication to your one meaningful project. MacGyver ■■■■?! How dare you? The last evidence of you adding "talent" to your roster is years ago. The only way to get you to respect your players concerns is to have one of the most popular content creators ■■■■ on you, and even then you cling to your selfish, egotistic nonsense. You've taken something I and plenty of others have paid good money for and looked forward to with aplomb into a seeping, vacuous pile of garbage. Hope you feel some sense of pride in the completely shambolic nature of your product, because that's the only thing that makes sense relative to your continued refusal to recognize your mistakes and faux pas. I have close to 0% confidence we will see anything from you in terms of what was promised or what we as a community want given your track record of lip service and outright lies. Die in a fire is too extreme for y'all, but a fairly serious and prolonged verbal beating is certainly in order. Shame on you.

Feel better now?

Wow, this post isn't full of self entitlement at all.

people really need to realize console players can not use mods, mods is only the answer for pc.
litterally millions of console accounts have to rely on TFP to make the changes that are needed.
so i DECLARE at this moment no person on this forum request mods as a cookie cutter answer to those who do not have access to mods.
I know console players can't use mods, and if you look REALLY close at the title of the OP's post he has it flagged as "PC" hence the mod comment. Personally even on my pc version, I still don't use mods, just don't see no point in it, I run any and all games vanilla.

In any case, the game is a good game regardless how many people can't accept that it isn't the game they wanted.
Anymore. For some of us, it used to be the game we wanted, and if it had continued in that direction, it would have been great. The several hard pivots are frustrating and disappointing.

The game's still okay, but it feels like it's so much less than it could have been (for me, of course...even though I shouldn't really need to specify that.)

I don't disagree. My point was in regards to the post above that was all about how horrible the game was. Some will like the old version better, some will like the new version better. That will never change. Even if the made it A16 again, you'd just swap the players who like it. Some would be happy and some would not.

We don't care about the others. This is Sparta!

In all seriousness based on recent trends and backlash I think even if they don't go back to A16 they should understand what players want in a general sense moving forward.

Open world sandbox survival. This is the way.

Well, considering it is already open world, that is one thing that is already done. And "sandbox" is misunderstood by most people who are using the term. It doesn't mean there are not any rules or restrictions or goals. It doesn't even mean you can safely go anywhere you want as soon as you start the game.

It seems like half the people saying they want sandbox just mean they want LBD, which has nothing to do with sandbox.

I think you are mistaken about what people want. LBD is but a small fraction of the issue. I would watch some of the YouTube videos about it. Read some reddit posts or steam reviews.

The focus on more linear RPG mechanisms over what the game started as is what's bothering people. Check out my thread on what's been removed and added and you will see a trend.

That was an example. Obviously people like or miss different things. But it was an example of people misusing the term sandbox.

In short, sandbox is often not what people think it is and is just a word they are using to reflect that they don't like change. Yes, things have changed. And yes, things are more linear. I have commented on not liking the traders being limited by biome or being gated by biome hazards. But those aren't about sandbox. Those are about being linear. A sandbox game can be linear. Sandbox and RPG are also not opposites.

Are the semantics of the word even important? The phrase covers pretty much everything that is remotely "freedom-related", so anything that limits something can be argued being against the sandbox idea. But it doesn't even matter, as the complaint could be always phrased in a better way - just calling that out is kinda pointless, just ask questions if you care enough to respond.

The problem is that TFP will add outings to be more of what they consider sandbox because people are asking for sandbox. When they add those, people are going to complain that those things weren't what they were talking about. If people want change, they should be specific and not lump things into incorrect categories or they can't complain about being misunderstood.

You don't think TFP would think about it a little further than that? They're quite selective in their listening (and they have every right to). Why would that change at the word "sandbox"?

Look at the examples they gave for offering a more sandbox experience. Those might be liked by people, but for the most part, they aren't the things people are actually asking for.

In any case, LBD isn't sandbox by any stretch of the word. It limits play style just as much as magazines. It just changes who is being limited.

So in your opinion the current trend of the games systems could be described as open world sandbox survival? Things like quests instead of scavenging. Progression caps. Etc. A lot of that doesn't seem to fall into those categories and it's not just about jars and LBD.

Also when I say go back to those elements I am referring to focusing on those elements. While you can have RPG elements in a sandbox game they are not themselves sandbox.

So things like magic armor, perks, etc would fall into that.

This isn't to say I want to remove every RPG mechanic but that a lot of the frustration stems from the change of focus to it.
