Kinda Cheating?

But in seriousness, the "forcefield" blocks are kinda silly and needed fixing.
I'd accept that, if they were even half-serious about fixing force fields.. but then they straight up introduce new simple force field blocks. Now we have both, force fields and solid concrete cubes you can shoot through (large arrow slits, side view).

Tihihihi ... had an idea to test, finally got around to it. This works, that cop won't spit, I can shoot it (headshots are mildly more difficult, but only mildly... :) )

So, now we have a new type of forcefield, the LoS - type.. do with that what you will :D

I used Teragon to make my map and it always spits out an image of your new generated world and It shows trader locations. Is it considered cheating to look at these maps to get an Idea of where traders are?

Here is an image of part of my map ant the small red squares are traders.
I have the game on PC and on PS5, whenever I'm trying a new seed, I'll do the advanced map generation on my pc, screenshot it, and then use that as a reference for the same seed on my PS5.

Grapple gun!

Really, nerd polling is just splitting hairs. Unless you put a ban on carrying shapes, all you have to do is make a ladder /shrugs.

The ladder is more immersive though.

Probably the only way to get rid of it, would be to impede the placing of objects while jumping.

I like the idea of a grapple gun, or grapple arrow, or grapple bolt :).

Then I would buy the Batman armor DLC :).

That, alone, would just make nerd poling use two towers. Place a block, jump on it, place two next to it, jump on those; place two on the first block.. or just straight up build the ladder ofc .. :)

No more jumping for you!

I like the Batman armor skin DLC idea better :). Forgot the "skin" part in previous post.

I used to use 2 blocks to climb out of really deep holes I'd dug that I didn't want to leave ladders/towers in. Place one against the wall, jump on it, place the second a block higher, jump on it, pick up the first, etc.

I only managed to pick up the wrong block and fall to my death like...2 or 3 times. :)

Hah, ye; as seen on TV. I think Glock9 does that, with varying success. I honestly think it's less of a trouble saving the time and grabbing a stump or two instead. I only really pick up frames if I'm coming down an existing pile, to avoid the fall damage.

If you use advanced generation and set the preview to high, you'll see every trader show up as a little red square. I make a map of them on a little notebook I have underneath my monitor.

Unless you are doing 7d2d speedruns you are fine. Expecially if playing single player. As long as you are having fun you are golden. If you are not having fun that would be the time to consider doing things differently.

I'd go further than that. Try building a massive castle build without nerdpoling, or try to reach that spot 60 meters above the ground to put in a trim piece or apply a bit of paint to a spot you missed. Try it. You'll want to rip the hair out of your head. lol I doubt it'll ever happen, but if they took out nerdpoling, I'd turn to activating fly mode when I'd build, honestly.

Sometimes I build a bunch of scaffolding if I want to RP the building process. I don't care if folks nerdpole but it doesn't fit my vibe for the game.

For me games like this are usually about what I can accept as I create a story in my mind and what I cant. Large backpack mods I use them. Does it bug me a bit that even the default pack and inventory system lets me carry extreme amounts of stuff? Sure. But I love packratting in apocalyse games and building up my provisions so I made peace with it Heh heh.

That's perfectly fine. If you don't enjoy nerdpoling, don't do it, and everyone remains happy. :) I'm a big advocate for everyone playing the way they want to play without judgment.

You're fine personally, but my personal gripe is someone who complains about x optional mechanic in the game that they choose not to engage in, but then they whine it's in the game still and want it to be removed, to the detriment of others. I saw a subreddit post ages ago where an individual complained that vehicles are "too OP" and make travel trivial, and they wanted them taken out of the game. That's my issue personally. /shrug

I know what you mean. Some folks think the way they play a game is the only right way to play and for some reason think everyone else has to play that way. Silly for anyone to get upset about nerdpoling. Just dont do it if you dont like doing it. Folks can be very strange. :)

this issue is more complex than it seems at first glance, it's not just about not doing it, there are things that break the experience of players who play normally, due to poor game design, or lack of design, it doesn't affect me if someone uses nerdpoling to get to safety, but there are other aspects that can affect, for example, tfp in the latest updates have made it so you are not safe at two blocks high, now they can hit you, this affects the difficulty directly making it more difficult and challenging, which is good, instead of just building 2 blocks and killing a bear with a wooden club, why does it affect me if I don't build 2 blocks to do it? because playing normally those 2 blocks can be a wall, a fence, or any object you can climb on, I will never understand people who complain about the removal of these things, which exist in the first place due to the lack of design of a game in development. The game is extremely easy, not because it doesn't have difficult elements, which it does, but because the game is full of these cheese tactics, and op weapons, and other op things, it's not just don't do it, it's that if you play normally you do it whether you want to or not.
