The trader's items are pretty expensive.. just 1 peice of armor can cost 500 to 2000 depending.. you might be lucky if you find some coin in some cash register or furniture - in the meantime you got weak clothing like fiber clothing and get killed by zombies and infected too.. and armor drops in loot especially if the area doesn't have a very high loot points to your character to be able to get anything usefull but some dirty water to give you poop sickness. maybe a can of food if lukcy.
Not much to trade with the Trader in the beginning unless you sell every single thing leaving you with barely anything just for a few coin.
The trader is not balanced in coin based soley on your level, so it assumes nothing and gives whatever high prices.. heck- even a can of food while your starving don't fill you much and now your out of coin cause the can of food costs much.
and trying to get a farm plot going - well, you need skill points for that and to get brians and bone from killing things, assuming you can find in loot.. and assuming you survived whatever onslaught of zombies on the 7th day - then maybe you got a skill point to use or 2 ... but to where does one put the points one asks... you need better weapon points, but you also need cardo or stamina or Well Feed or various other things....
Like i was saying, sssssoooo many options you need, but given very little.
You don't get a wrench like that which would be very usefull to break down stuff to perhaps sell, so everything is sparse...
Fun Pimps made a Game long time ago based on as-is bio-domes and while it might be slightly harder in wasteland, changing it to make harder would just be overkill ... already get bothered by Elite screamers (green radioactive) who are harder to kill who - by the way, alert the whole map of your existance whenever you want to cook for forge something and your heat level climbs up ....lol.. So do we reeealllllyyy need the wasteland to be even more harder? ..lol
If you're trying to buy it day 1, sure. A couple of quests get you good money. Selling stuff gives you good money (a single magazine is something like 100-200 -- I forget -- if you really want money quickly, though it's not at all necessary). Given a few days, unless you aren't selling anything or doing quests, you will have a decent amount of money. There are a lot of things you can sell early that you don't really need to hang on to, if you really need to. But quests are an option if you don't want to sell stuff. And especially by the time you should be heading to the higher biomes, you should have plenty. But as I said, traders are just one option. I'm pretty sure it will be possible to craft whatever you need. Or it could even be a special quest for some of it.
Food is hardly difficult. Go hunting. There's so much meat around (and eggs) that it's easy to make your own food. And you should *not* be eating canned food unless its one of the ones that can't be used for cooking or if you have no choice. The canned food provides much more food value if cooked. Water is extremely easy. A pot is usually very quick to find in a residential area and is also cheap to craft or to buy. Once you have that, boil all your murky water and it's easy. For more water, a dew collector is easy and cheap to make.
Farming doesn't require any skill points. That just makes it easier to keep a farm going without going out and looking for seeds. Just farm whatever seeds you find. Corn is especially easy to find because there are bags of corn seeds everywhere. Just scavenge those bags for far more seeds than you'll ever have any need for. Other things aren't as easy to find, but you'll still find them. To make a farm plot, you can easily harvest any dead "roadkill" you see laying around or those yellow bags that have dead people in them. Not to mention any dogs or vultures.
Horde night should give you FAR more than 1-2 perk points unless you're just hiding. On the first horde night, I am usually getting at least around 5. If you are struggling for the first horde night, then go ahead and hide and by the second, you should definitely have a lot of points from it. You can also increase the length of days to 2 hours and/or increase the number of days between horde nights so you have twice as long until the first horde night to get ready. You can always change those settings back after the first horde night if you want to.
I would definitely NOT put points into well fed or cardio early in the game unless you're comfortable with playing the game. Those might be nice, but they aren't really that good compared to other perks. Start with your weapon of choice. 1-2 points there, which you'll get when you finish your initial challenge quests. If you're really struggling so much with money, look at a point into Daring Adventurer (if questing) or Better Barter (if selling), though those are optional. If you have trouble staying alive, a point or two in parkour can help to get around easier. If you want to get resources faster, points in one of the mining or scavenging perks would be useful. How you spend points is entirely up to how you play the game and everyone does things differently. It is just something you learn by playing the game.
You will be able to get a wrench before too long. Just not likely on day 1. Find some magazines and it won't take too long to craft one, though I tend to find one before I can craft one.
Screamers are a pain at times, but they aren't actually harder to kill. The screamers are one of the easiest to kill. But yes, they do scream and call others to fight. But this will happen only once every 21 minutes in a given area. And it's easy experience. Just remember to kill them first.
In any case, if you are struggling this much, you shouldn't even be in the harder biomes as they are now. What they change in the biomes in the update shouldn't matter. Stick to the forest until you're more comfortable with playing the game. These are things you get good at after playing the game a little. Get some practice before worrying about going to other biomes. Once you are more comfortable the other biomes won't be a big deal, even with the changes. In any case, they aren't going to be harder due to these changes. They'll just require certain skill or equipment before going to them.
