PC v1.x Developer Diary

I've never heard anyone say day is too bright. There is way to fix that for any game. Turn down your monitor brightness/contrast. Now having two settings in game would be more flexible, but I don't know when I would get to that.
I think the issue may be that certain things get very bright during the day, especially around certain lights.  For example, I had my headlight mod on my vehicle turned on and shining into the lower level of my base and the light went up the stairs straight ahead, causing everything to be glaringly bright on the second floor where my crates were.  At least that is my own experience.  I think daytime brightness is fine without any other light sources that might affect localized lighting, but it can get very bright in certain situations with default brightness settings in 1.x.  But perhaps they feel that the normal daytime brightness is also too bright on its own.  If that's the case, it's the first I've heard mention of it as well.

I doubt they're referring to this but at the moment, if you were to lower the in game brightness setting a lot, whites can get nearly blown out and painful on the eyes, most notably in the snow biome.

Is this new brightness setting a replacement of the current one or is it in addition to?

Forget that. I just reread what you wrote initially.

One other question, currently when lowering the in game brightness I notice that it results in an apparent increase in color saturation. I don't know if that is the result of a direct saturation increase or the result of a contrast boost. Will that still be the case with the new brightness setting?

It was a gamma setting on a post processing effect, which is the only thing it is doing in v1.1 at <50%. I disabled that for less than 50% brightness.

Well, that is going to completely solve the issue then! You're doing the Lord's work. Thank you!

That'll be one less mod to have installed.

Has any server owners noticed that when someone logs into their server it lags for about 10 to 15 seconds? Or when you reset a large POI?

Yes! I'm not the server owner, but a friend of mine is. We've been noticing that lag for the last couple of months. At first it was just when someone logged in, but then more recently we've been noticing it when starting quests, too.

I'm gonna end up turning into a Zombie waiting for update for xbox series x  update release.. Was hoping it was gonna happen on Halloween which would be fitting for sombies, etc  here in USA & even took the week off cause i wanted to use some Personal Time Off  (PTO) , was hoping it was gonna be a Suprise release.  :(
Now i'm hearing maybe end of Q4 possibly during Christmas where joy and cheer - doesn't fit the theme of zombies... but... it is what it is...?!  .. lol

Don't get your hopes up for Christmas release.  I personally expect it to be no sooner than January.  Also, they all go on vacation around Christmas, so releasing then would not be a good option for them even if it was ready.

We all have ideas on what would be ideal or nice, but before you get your hopes up, take a moment and consider the average wait time between patches we've seen over the last 4 years. .. Now, curb your expectations accordingly. .. On the bright side, the wait will be worth it- ..Once it's out of experimental branch.

Не возлагайте больших надежд на рождественский релиз. Лично я ожидаю, что это будет не раньше января. Кроме того, они все уходят в отпуск перед Рождеством, так что релиз тогда был бы для них не лучшим вариантом, даже если бы он был готов.
There is always hope. At least they have 4 more weeks🤠

Some people just want it gloomy cloudy and dark for some reason. Its Like the world got hit by huge asteroid, causing  dust clouds that block out the sun or most of the sun. Or maybe some kind of nuclear event. But that what some people want. I personal like the day and the light for most of the game. More realistic to me. I wouldnt change it. But the red every 7 days. That lighting not realistic. I wish this would get removed. But i talked about some of this 10 or 30 pages ago. Point being people have their own ideas and preferences how the game should look like. We cant change this. Honestly its the vision of the developer. We playing what the think what the world would look like. We here for the ride.

This is a true statement, but this is not always how it has been.
This has been proven extensively in the modding section. That   was
one of the main draws to the template for many. The vanilla
experience is the direct vision of the development team, tis true.
But, the reason I reference this project as a template is because it
also was the direct vision of the dev team stated on kickstarter, here
on the forum, and in direct interview streams, for the extensibility of
re-envisoning, and expansion of the core to show the industry and world it's
flexible intent and hopefully raise awareness.

It was originally done in a more open and liberal format to allow each of these, the
core experience, the possible experience, the probable experience, and provided
the inspiration for the potentially impossible experience. Creating "Outside the box".

It does not have to be either or, it never did, that's basic humanistic desire at
play, it was purposefully made to be a preferential, and an openly optional model,
different from the industry standards, that is what this model was designed for
and to do. That is what has inspired the varied and conversely differential opinions
and requests.

If the above ideas and ideals have become rejectementa, then the core proposition and

intention of the game has truly changed.

Yeah, the older lighting style of the game I'm talking 7-8 plus years ago now really drove the apocalypse feel, most times If you're not in the wasteland it's sunshine showers and rainbows lol, not saying its a bad thing but the older lighting just had something special to it.
