Version 4.5.0 is now live!
I have just released a "living better" update to
Unnecessarily Beautiful But Immersive (
UBBI)!
This update has brought back functional kitchen appliances, added powered doors and added new items such as vines, a bush, a poster, new arcade terminals and more! Almost just as important as the new features and new items, I also have better balanced the item visuals, added new icons, reorganized some code, further decluttered files etc.
Please destroy items like kitchen appliances, pool blocks and certain doors before updating from 4.0 to 4.5!
You can support the mod on Nexus
here or you can download directly below!
You can easily download the mod here -

UBBI 4.5 with
SMX, download this optional file here -

It feels like I just released the previous version of
Unnecessarily Beautiful But Immersive (
UBBI) for Alpha 21. While I didn't expect to return so soon, it was brought to my attention that brightness during the nighttime in-game needed adjusted. Now, after a couple more weeks of hard work, I present
UBBI 4.5, which brings a multitude of important changes and additions from adjusted visuals of all the items offered in
UBBI to returning features and new items.
After many requests, I had finally decided to bring back a wildly supported feature. That's right, you can now cook, brew and make all assortments of food and beverages at various kitchen appliances. The appliances that are now functional include the Microwave, Oven, Stove, Stovetop, Coffee Maker and Toaster. While you can't make everything at each custom appliance, you now have many more options for immersive gameplay and decorative design.

This wasn't the only feature to be added in
UBBI for the 4.5 update. In fact, the bigger doors are now in a Powered Door recipe. Similarly, to unlocking lights, you must continue to read "Wiring 101" magazines to work on the electrician skill. You will unlock the Heavy Doors once you reach Tier 2: Sensors. Once unlocked, you will have to use a wire tool to get the door working. Unlike the lights, you will have to connect the doors to a power generator, fuel and power it.
In addition to new and returning features, I have also added some new items. I have handpicked items from Hernan's never before seen assets from
UBBs unreleased sequel that fit the theme of
UBBI, which consist of a pinball machine, vines and a bush. I have also added two new arcade terminal variants that were designed out of collaboration with game developers, a toilet to complete the bathroom set, a "
Barbenheimer" poster and new pool lights.
Arcades, Campfires & Powered Doors
I honestly couldn't be more excited to bring these arcade terminals to life for
UBBI 4.5. Alongside the original arcade terminal designed by
Hernan, there are now two more arcade terminals that players can spice up their base with. The main purpose of these arcade terminals is for decorative use, but the videos in the playback loops are trailers for these games. While they can't be played in
7 Days to Die in-game, this makes the arcades feel more immersive!
First, I want to thank
Yuméplay Studios for their mission to showcase their monster taming game
Druggiemon in one of these arcades for this update.
Druggiemon is a unique take on the monster taming genre with colorful creatures, dizzying visual effects, parodying characters and more. Meanwhile, the third arcade is showcasing
Konfa Games'
Despot's Game: Dystopian Battle Simulator. Published by

Alright, so the 4.5 update for
UBBI isn't just about arcades. This update also adds functional appliances. Unlike the last time you could cook items with these appliances, you now must strictly use wood as a resource. Disappointing for some, but it's a limitation on the custom workstation systems. As long as you're fueling these appliances with wood alongside a grill and cooking pot as needed, you will be able to cook and brew a variety of food and beverages at their corresponding station (i.e., coffee maker only makes teas, water and coffee drinks).
While lights and electronics will still require no power source, just activation by a wire tool, the powered doors do require 3W of energy by connecting a power generator to the door or a sensor, fueling it with gas, providing an engine for energy, turning it on and ensuring the door is also connected back to the generator or a sensor. Once properly setup and connected, you can then use sensors like switches and timer relays to open the doors in differently immersive ways.
What Else Has Changed
What prompted this update, as mentioned before, is the need to adjust the brightness for all items in
UBBI to ensure that they appear better balanced and easier on the eyes during the night, while still looking okay during the day. To this end, I ended up adjusting all items that needed it, while tweaking some colors and even some images to better personalize UBBI while continuing to make it as immersive as possible. Almost just as important as the items themselves in-game, a big portion of the icons have also been redesigned to better match how they appear, while also generally providing a more polished look.
Similarly, to version 4.0, this next update also required additional changes to code, sorting and even adjustments to Unity files to make the functional appliances work correctly, to ensure the powered doors work as needed and other changes, such as a new recipe for powered doors, pool lights now under the lights only recipe and the removal of a duplicate, redundant kitchen appliance. These various changes may prompt players to have to start a new game if they do not properly prepare (i.e., destroy all kitchen appliances and pool items before updating).

An Important Update Notice
Due to changes made for Alpha 21, a new game is required for players that are switching from A20 to A21. If this is your first time playing with
UBBI or you are already on Alpha 21, you should be able to seamlessly install this mod into your game's mod folder. If you tried to use
UBBI's 3.0.0.0 update in A21, please start a new game after you download the new update!
The UI elements added in UBBI 4.5 will decrease compatibility with mod overhauls using unique UIs or UI overhauls that simply change the UI elements. I decided to move forward with the implementation of functional appliances due to demand, knowing this complication. To this end, I have decided to also release an optional patch for
Sirillion's
SMX for players wanting to play with
UBBI 4.5 and
SMX.
I have not tested
UBBI with any other overhauls or UI mods. I cannot guarantee compatibility, as many overhauls make changes to workbench functionality, resource types and UI element changes to name a few things that may trigger errors or crashes when
UBBI is placed in those respective mod folders. This decision is out of self-preservation, as I have a full-time job in a slightly different industry.
The 4.5 version of
UBBI is only compatible with Alpha 21. If you wish to play
7DTD on A20, you can download the 3.0.0.0 version of
UBBI and an
Undead Legacy patch is available under the optional files on Nexus Mods for players who need it.
I hope you all enjoy the 4.5 update to
UBBI!
Cheers,
Ztensity
