Ztensity's Unnecessarily Beautiful But Immersive (UBBI)

I been testing some of the lights and when I turn them on, they automatically turn back off.. like the floor lamp for example. And most you dont even need them hooked up to power and they work?

Hey SamuelAdams,

I appreciate you reaching out to me. I have done full testing with UBBI for Alpha 21 for this release in Vanilla without any mods added and had no issues with lights or electronics.

The intended use for lights and electronics is to use a wire tool to activate them by selecting "e/y" when the "0W" characters come up to make the wire appear and pressing "e/y" again to make the wire disappear. Once you do this, you can easily turn on/off the lights and electronics whenever you want.

It is important to note that you should not be connecting these lights to generators or anything like that. As long as you've followed the instructions above and as shown in previous YouTube videos on my channel in the past, they should work without any problems.

I want to give a reminder that version 4.0.0.0 of UBBI is only available for Alpha 21. You can play with overhauls, but at your own discretion, as I cannot guarantee success and compatibility due to the number of changes that come with Overhauls. I believe that this mod should be compatible with most standalone modlets, but there could be incompatibilities.

Finally, please also make sure you have downloaded the 4.0.0.0 version for Alpha 21 or 3.0.0.0 version for Alpha 20. If you have moved from Alpha 20 to 21 or had any previous versions of UBBI installed, start a new game.

If you are still having trouble, I would encourage you to join the Discord, which can be found in the original post.

I hope that this helps!

Thank you!

Cheers,

Ztensity

Amazing, amazing mod, thank you! Only question how come no toilet?
Thank you so much!

My main focus with this update was compatibility with A21, improving the appearance of all pre-existing items, making everything load better and adding a couple new items I already had in mind.

The main reason I decided not to do a toilet is because I myself haven't created one and creating items is not my strong suit. It also took me weeks to get this update ready.

For future updates I will consider looking into adding a toilet and some other possible immersive features, but for now you'll have to look for the vanilla toilets!

I'm glad you're excited for the A21 update though and thank you for commenting! ☺️🙏🏼

Undead Legacy A20 Patch
I know, I know...some of you may roll your eyes. I've said time and again that I can't guarantee compatibility with overhauls. If you were to question that, it's still true. However, I have had many players asking for this and after some encouragement, I have finally decided to release my first patch for an overhaul since the days of Darkness Falls, Gnamod and War of the Walkers. It's true, if you are wanting to play Undead Legacy with UBBI, you can now do it with the UBBI UL Patch! This patch is only compatible with the A20 versions of UBBI and the UL version 2.6.17 for Alpha 20.6 (b9). You can still find the 3.0.0.0 update for UBBI in the "Old Versions" under Files and this patch can be downloaded from the Optional Files section on the Nexus Mods page!

You will now have to make use Wooden Planks and standard "glass" while crafting and repairing. Oh, and if you want to unlock the lights? Make sure to read the in-game journal to start learning how to craft Workbenches, craft Research Stations and upgrade these stations to get your hands on the schematic!

Hi ztensity,

Thank you so much for updating the great mod for Alpha 21. I have been using it for all my games since it was first released, and was hoping it gets updated... looks like I got my wish!!!

For future updates I will consider looking into adding a toilet and some other possible immersive features, but for now you'll have to look for the vanilla toilets!

For the possible immersive features, would you consider making the stoves and ovens workable like a campfire, rather than just a container? It'd be so awesome if they do work. 🙂

I am actually already working on a new update to UBBI to fix the visuals for a variety of items that didn't appear correctly at night.

I will consider bringing back the workable kitchen appliances amongst other things that may get added.

I'm glad you're excited and thank you for your support. It's great to have people enjoying this mod!

Cheers,

Ztensity.

Hi, I absolutely love your mod. I was wondering how difficult it would be for me to add the 'working' ability to the stove(s) and sink(s)? I have seen other working appliance mods and they work fine but....they use vanilla blocks and I really like to have a clean workspace.  Also I am using SMX so that presents a patch job from me. Do you have any ideas on how to make this work?

Hey Jenn,

I am planning on adding the workable ability to the stoves and microwave. As far as "workable sinks," what do you have in mind specifically?

On the hand, on the topic of SMX, it shouldn't have conflictions with UBBI as is in 4.0.0.0 as long as you disabled EAC. For workable appliances, I will look into either a patch for SMX or making it UI friendly.

Also, could send me links to mods doing "workable" appliances for Vanilla? I'd like to review what has been done to see how to implement it in A21.

Finally, I would encourage you to hold off on trying to do this yourself, as I have had enough to demand to bring this feature back in an update!

Thank you for your kind words Jenn and I'm glad to see you enjoying the mod in A21 :)

I'm already working on an update that I hope to get out soon!

Cheers,
Ztensity.

This is the only one I'm aware of. I was actually going to make your appliances "working" by myself for personal use based off this mod, but if you are planning on doing it then I will just wait. https://7daystodiemods.com/sams-working-stuff/

Edit: Actually there is another one that I wasn't aware of here - https://7daystodiemods.com/working-decor-a21/

Due to the fact that jars are now gone, I think the only thing you could have them do in Alpha 21 is fill buckets (like the bathtub does in the 2nd link I posted above).  The sinks in the first link I posted act like dew collectors, but that means in order for them to work they need 6 empty blocks above them or to be built outside (which doesn't make much sense to me). It's up to you, though.

Version 4.5.0 is now live!

I have just released a "living better" update to Unnecessarily Beautiful But Immersive (UBBI)!

This update has brought back functional kitchen appliances, added powered doors and added new items such as vines, a bush, a poster, new arcade terminals and more! Almost just as important as the new features and new items, I also have better balanced the item visuals, added new icons, reorganized some code, further decluttered files etc.

Please destroy items like kitchen appliances, pool blocks and certain doors before updating from 4.0 to 4.5!

You can support the mod on Nexus here or you can download directly below!

You can easily download the mod here - UBBI 4.5.0.0 (A21).

If you wish to play UBBI 4.5 with SMX, download this optional file here - UBBI 4.5.0.0 SMX Patch (A21).

It feels like I just released the previous version of Unnecessarily Beautiful But Immersive (UBBI) for Alpha 21. While I didn't expect to return so soon, it was brought to my attention that brightness during the nighttime in-game needed adjusted. Now, after a couple more weeks of hard work, I present UBBI 4.5, which brings a multitude of important changes and additions from adjusted visuals of all the items offered in UBBI to returning features and new items.

After many requests, I had finally decided to bring back a wildly supported feature. That's right, you can now cook, brew and make all assortments of food and beverages at various kitchen appliances. The appliances that are now functional include the Microwave, Oven, Stove, Stovetop, Coffee Maker and Toaster. While you can't make everything at each custom appliance, you now have many more options for immersive gameplay and decorative design.

15a.png

This wasn't the only feature to be added in UBBI for the 4.5 update. In fact, the bigger doors are now in a Powered Door recipe. Similarly, to unlocking lights, you must continue to read "Wiring 101" magazines to work on the electrician skill. You will unlock the Heavy Doors once you reach Tier 2: Sensors. Once unlocked, you will have to use a wire tool to get the door working. Unlike the lights, you will have to connect the doors to a power generator, fuel and power it.

In addition to new and returning features, I have also added some new items. I have handpicked items from Hernan's never before seen assets from UBBs unreleased sequel that fit the theme of UBBI, which consist of a pinball machine, vines and a bush. I have also added two new arcade terminal variants that were designed out of collaboration with game developers, a toilet to complete the bathroom set, a "Barbenheimer" poster and new pool lights.

Arcades, Campfires & Powered Doors

I honestly couldn't be more excited to bring these arcade terminals to life for UBBI 4.5. Alongside the original arcade terminal designed by Hernan, there are now two more arcade terminals that players can spice up their base with. The main purpose of these arcade terminals is for decorative use, but the videos in the playback loops are trailers for these games. While they can't be played in 7 Days to Die in-game, this makes the arcades feel more immersive!

First, I want to thank Yuméplay Studios for their mission to showcase their monster taming game Druggiemon in one of these arcades for this update. Druggiemon is a unique take on the monster taming genre with colorful creatures, dizzying visual effects, parodying characters and more. Meanwhile, the third arcade is showcasing Konfa Games' Despot's Game: Dystopian Battle Simulator. Published by tinyBuild, Despot's Game is a procedural auto battler that'll get your mutagen strategy pumping as you fight enemies and other players!

17a.png

Alright, so the 4.5 update for UBBI isn't just about arcades. This update also adds functional appliances. Unlike the last time you could cook items with these appliances, you now must strictly use wood as a resource. Disappointing for some, but it's a limitation on the custom workstation systems. As long as you're fueling these appliances with wood alongside a grill and cooking pot as needed, you will be able to cook and brew a variety of food and beverages at their corresponding station (i.e., coffee maker only makes teas, water and coffee drinks).

While lights and electronics will still require no power source, just activation by a wire tool, the powered doors do require 3W of energy by connecting a power generator to the door or a sensor, fueling it with gas, providing an engine for energy, turning it on and ensuring the door is also connected back to the generator or a sensor. Once properly setup and connected, you can then use sensors like switches and timer relays to open the doors in differently immersive ways.

What Else Has Changed

What prompted this update, as mentioned before, is the need to adjust the brightness for all items in UBBI to ensure that they appear better balanced and easier on the eyes during the night, while still looking okay during the day. To this end, I ended up adjusting all items that needed it, while tweaking some colors and even some images to better personalize UBBI while continuing to make it as immersive as possible. Almost just as important as the items themselves in-game, a big portion of the icons have also been redesigned to better match how they appear, while also generally providing a more polished look.

Similarly, to version 4.0, this next update also required additional changes to code, sorting and even adjustments to Unity files to make the functional appliances work correctly, to ensure the powered doors work as needed and other changes, such as a new recipe for powered doors, pool lights now under the lights only recipe and the removal of a duplicate, redundant kitchen appliance. These various changes may prompt players to have to start a new game if they do not properly prepare (i.e., destroy all kitchen appliances and pool items before updating).

An Important Update Notice

Due to changes made for Alpha 21, a new game is required for players that are switching from A20 to A21. If this is your first time playing with UBBI or you are already on Alpha 21, you should be able to seamlessly install this mod into your game's mod folder. If you tried to use UBBI's 3.0.0.0 update in A21, please start a new game after you download the new update!

The UI elements added in UBBI 4.5 will decrease compatibility with mod overhauls using unique UIs or UI overhauls that simply change the UI elements. I decided to move forward with the implementation of functional appliances due to demand, knowing this complication. To this end, I have decided to also release an optional patch for Sirillion's SMX for players wanting to play with UBBI 4.5 and SMX.

I have not tested UBBI with any other overhauls or UI mods. I cannot guarantee compatibility, as many overhauls make changes to workbench functionality, resource types and UI element changes to name a few things that may trigger errors or crashes when UBBI is placed in those respective mod folders. This decision is out of self-preservation, as I have a full-time job in a slightly different industry.

The 4.5 version of UBBI is only compatible with Alpha 21. If you wish to play 7DTD on A20, you can download the 3.0.0.0 version of UBBI and an Undead Legacy patch is available under the optional files on Nexus Mods for players who need it.

I hope you all enjoy the 4.5 update to UBBI!

Cheers,
Ztensity

Version 4.5.1 is now live!

I have released a minor update to UBBI that fixes the textures for the canvas paintings and framed pictures. I also added descriptions to art decor that needed it and fixed the placement of the "Barbenheimer" poster.

These changes are in anticipation of the update to "Paintings & Posters," which will soon be released as "Ztensity's Art Studio." With that mod will be a patch for UBBI that bridge the modlets together and add the paintings and posters from UBBI into the Art Studio workstation.

You can support the mod on Nexus here or you can download directly below!

You can easily download the mod here - UBBI 4.5.0.0 (A21).

If you wish to play UBBI 4.5 with SMX, download this optional file here - UBBI 4.5.0.0 SMX Patch (A21).

Sorry for making you all update again!

Version 4.6.0.0 is now live!

I have released what is likely the final update to UBBI for Alpha 21. I am considering this a "quality of life" update.

I have fixed the pool items to make sure they could hold water again in A21 and I further fine-tuned textures once more to continue ensuring immersion. Previous updates adjusted brightness at night but made things more metallic. This update fixes the metallic look on all these items.

I have fixed two different lights that were bothering me so that they work a little more naturally and function a little closer to what's expected with their shapes. Meanwhile, I have also made adjustments to other pre-existing items where needed such as making the beds smaller, so they fit in spaces better and adjusting the closet pieces.

I have added five new items in UBBI which include a trash can, a metal ladder, a vent, a newspaper and a handheld gaming device.

I hope all these changes are welcomed by the community and that you all enjoy the new update!

Awesome work and love the mod. Ive just one question about the electronics unity asset file. Back in version 4.0 it was only 30mb and now in version 4.6 its up to 620mb. Was there that much added or was compression overlooked? Im really wanting to update to see all the newest features but thats a lot of extra space to bring into the modpack.

Hey man, the file size is due to new arcade terminals that use actual gameplay trailers for the arcade visuals and sounds when they're on.

This is completely safe 😄

ah okay. would it be possible to use the electronics file from an older version like 4.5 or even 4.0 so the overall file size stays low? i'm worried about some of my players who have less than optimum internet for downloading.

I apologize for the bigger download size. The older electronics resources doesn't include the same assets unfortunately and even if you did switch, you'd get errors as XML wouldn't have any anything to call for some of the items.

I can look into downsizing the electronics by maybe making the video quality lower, however this is my last update for A21 for UBBI unless something is broken.

Perhaps for A22 I will look into this. I am very sorry for now. I hope you understand.

Cheers,

Ztensity

yea no worries i understand how busy life can be. i guess i was hoping for a quick solution but easiest thing to do is stick with v4.0 since its quite small. i can always wait till A22.
here's a thought going forward to A22, perhaps an alternate version with no video trailers to reduce the size? bc if that is all that pumped up the file size then i would happily forego that one feature to save half a gig of downloads.

anyway, love the work and support you all the way.

I appreciate your understanding and the kind words!

Yes, the older versions that were compatible with A21 are still available via archived files, so it's certainly an option for you.

You may miss some optimization, features or items, but I understand what works best for you.

For A22, I'll definitely either release an alternative file option for the arcades or look to downsize the video quality - we shall see!

Thanks for supporting the mod either way and having cordual conversation with me.

Cheers!

Ztensity 😄
