Xbox X -- "continue game" is greyed out and cannot be clicked on to load and play.

Okay, this may sound weird but this is a pretty solid lead into what's going on (based on reading over symptoms players have been reporting). Some mentioned issues with their system time, and in theory that could prevent proper authentication with EOS, which in this state would cause the saves from being populated (as they are tied with your EOS account ID that it makes for you automatically). I am suspecting time drift on systems. Sorry for the delay on this, but this time of year everyone is taking breaks (including console companies and such). Some of us have been looking into it over the break though, but we can't reproduce it at all besides messing with the time. I checked regions, about 30-40 countries/sections of countries using a VPN on my PC and retail xbox and nothing happened, so that sort of points it more to time drift. Hopefully.

Anyway, just wanted to give you all some insight. I hope this helps; this isn't a final statement by any means, we will be looking further into this, but I wanted to give you all some troubleshooting tips to hopefully get you going for now.

Xbox:

Settings -> System -> Time: If the Set Time Automatically isn't enabled, enable it. If it is enabled, disable it then set the time manually; if the time seems correct, try putting it a minute ahead or behind and enable the automatic setting again and let it correct it.

PS5:

Settings -> System -> Date and Time: If the Set Time Automatically isn't enabled, enable it. If it is enabled, disable it then set the time manually (Set Manually option); if the time seems correct, try putting it a minute ahead or behind and enable the automatic setting again and let it correct it. Restart the console and it can't hurt to run the Network Connectivity check.

PC:

Settings -> Time & Language -> Date & Time (you can search for Date & Time, or right click the clock)
If Set Time Automatically is disabled, enable it. If it's enabled, try the Sync now button a little bit down, and restart.

In any case, it's also a good idea to power off your modem/routers/other network devices for about 5 - 10 minutes and restart them. Also, if this doesn't work, try setting your time manually (on all platforms).

So on Xbox in the time settings I can only find settings to change the time zone I can't manually put in time

, luckily I haven't ran into the issue not being able to access saves but I am get a bunch of eos warnings in the logs

Oops idk why my quote posted like that but u get the point hopefully

I tried and it didn't help on Xbox but if it helps I have two saves where it did it separate times and they have the same eos id even though I cannot access either and couldn't access one when it glitched the first time both times it has reset my characters and my settings as well and my friends still have the saves from there characters

I never touched the time settings on my system. Besides, I’m using Cloud Gaming and it definitely runs on cloud servers, not on my console, and Imgur getting the same results.

You have made clear us console players have NO brain.. If we did we would play on PC only. Thank you for taking the time to go to a forum for a game you dont play to defend a versi9n you are too smart to play
Just putting words in my mouth at this point. But having people post the same thing multiple times a day accomplishes nothing. Just isn't necessary.

So hate away... how about you delete your saves and maybe you will learn empathy for those who lost theirs instead of trolling
Why would I do that? Your saves haven't been deleted either. Jugginator literally said as much in his earlier post. But please, be over dramatic for no reason. When the issue is sorted your saves will be there.

Will they? I remember in 2016 when half my base vanished and I did not learn until telltale went bankrupt the next year that I would never get a fix, but as a PC elite you never felt that
Sigh... I really think you guys are the trolls at this point. TFP wasn't handling the console game at that point. Wasn't their product to speak on. My goodness.

You have a game with half the issues why do you come here and flame us about a game you dont play About issues PC players don't have.

I played again today with no major bugs but every time I turn it on I know it's possible save could break...
This response had literally nothing to do with what you quoted of my post...

Do you have no other games to play? Take a break, play something else until there's more info or a fix is found. I get being locked out of saves is a PITA, but knowing it is happening and starting save after save and trying to act surprised it happened again is silly.

You can try grabbing your saves from the cloud, if you've uploaded them to the cloud.

  • My Games and Apps > 7 Days to Die Console Edition > Manage Game & Add-Ons > Saved Data.
  • Select the entry that matches your Xbox profile.
  • When prompted, select 'Delete from Console'.
  • Launch 7 Days to Die Console Edition - when prompted for which save data to use, select 'The Xbox network (cloud data).

A long shot, was hoping this would help more than not since some users I've seen have the clock issue at least partially resolve it that way. We're still looking into it

I have exactly the same issue. Cannot continue my game. If I go to New Game menu, I can see my game saved and the version number shows in green. I’ve tried to remove temporary storage, and even profile on the console, and still no luck.
Same issues here. My game that was started AFTER the 1.2 update is having this issue. My old saves are “archived” as well and not retrievable. My customer character was even reset.

Tried that days ago, doesn’t work.

Tried that several times, no luck.

Tried that in the beginning no joy as well.  I'm a bit afraid to try it now.  Every time I get "... agree to the EULA ..." message is after my xbox syncs the game data.

I've not noticed any time issues.   But I get the "... agree to the EULA ..." about every 14 -15 days.

That’s what I did. (Actually, I deleted all local save files. I accidentally deleted my profile everywhere on the legacy version once…. I learned from that….)

After that it took 2 times or so to load my saves from the cloud. Did get an error at first, but in the end I got a working game. Did loose a few hours of gameplay, but definitely not everything.

Tried that on the day when this happened. And tried five times today. No luck. I can see my saved games, but size shows as 11 Mb, while the other game that I’ve started has 400Mb allocated storage. Also, just a thought, I’ve started a new game with the same name for the world. Now I wonder if my old game cannot get restored because of the name of the world is the same as the current one.

In theory no but that's a "hold up that gives me an idea". I'll check something

Hm no go. I'm experimenting though, but my assumption is due to you losing your EOS ID, the duplicate game name was allowed. Again, doing some experiments and others on the team are also working on it

Didn't work for me. I cant see my save files before or after trying this, nor will anything load.

Just came on here to throw my 2 cents in without being super aggressive but this same thing has officially happened to me, except I have a random search bar covering the 7 in the main menu logo alongside the greyed out continue game, I wasn’t overly mad but now I can’t even do a new game because it just freezes up. Quite literally broke the game
My game does the same thing and also have the bar covering the 7 it's not a search bar, if you click on the bar it says password but does nothing for me.
