I haven't like the direction the game began going since after about A14. Every time they remove a feature or system that worked great. Sometimes other stuff is added that I like but lately it feels for me and the group of people I play the game with that parts being removed were way better then the parts being added.
What is it about the cost benefit ratio that people like to point it out that often? Its a win win for the op, 2000 hours on a game he no longer likes is definitely getting your moneys worth.
I too have decided to permanently quit the game after 2000 hours. And today will be my last day of posting anything to these forums. A17 killed it. There were many reasons but the main ones for me were:It was with some regret that I felt compelled to give 7 Days a negative review on Steam. After more than 2000 hours of playtime, I had until recently been optimistic about the future of the game. I have to admit that I can no longer maintain much hope..
My assumption is that they spent the vast majority of the time designing all the dungeon POIs. That is, after all, the vast bulk of "new content" that this version delivered. Unfortunately the net result is all rather 'meh' and turns out dungeon POIs added very little to the game despite all that effort.the vehicles are good but shouldve had a lot more polish done on them ...it was over a year...and that leads to my last issue
i feel the update period was too long and people expected a lot more ....
I agree. I got two copies for 25 bucks over 4000 hours of play ago. That is an incredible value.
20$ will get you a small popcorn, a small drink and a 2 and a half hour Movie (3Hours if it's Avengers End Game)You got a bonus 1997 hours of entertainment.
That's plenty of endorsement for me![]()
2,000 hrs in a game
// negative review.

Yeah, that sums up modern gamers alright.
Its a win win for the op, 2000 hours on a game he no longer likes is definitely getting your moneys worth. The latest iteration has divided opinion about as much as the last few did. .
Remind me not to play the game too much. If I do and happen to have complaints about an alpha, it clearly has less worth.Bitching about something after you have already enjoyed it for so long is really splenetic. The TFP don't owe you anything. You already had more game time than I have had in any game I have played by 1500 hours and I have been gaming since the late 80's.
Incidentally that might really be true from the point of view of TFP. BecauseRemind me not to play the game too much. If I do and happen to have complaints about an alpha, it clearly has less worth.
Except your meal analogy doesn't work. Meals don't change while you're eating them, and you can never eat the same meal twice. As some one that has been playing since Alpha 6, I feel completely satisfied with where the game has gone. Sure it isn't perfect. Nothing is ever perfect, but the general level of improvement and depth remains moving in a positive direction overall.
If you hate the state of the game, there are 100's of mods to spice up the vanilla world.
Honestly, complaining about something when you have 2000 hours into it now seems a bit self righteous and covetous. That's like telling the waiter you want a free meal after you've already cleaned your plate.
Recipes being tied to fixed levels was never a good idea. And unfortunately it seems it is more of a design decision rather than something temporary.1) The oh so stupid perk system making everything predictable and thus completely removing any replayability from the game. If I know for a fact that I will craft a Bike at level 30, where is the variety in play-throughs? Game went from having one of the most innovative perk systems ever (half LBD / half perk points) to one of the least satisfying ever. That was a crushing disappointment.
The "perk" books they will add are a nice touch, but they definitely won't have the effect of the old recipe books, because they are mostly minor bonuses (even including their set bonus) and won't actually make playthroughs different. On the contrary, expect people to have their builds "chosen" by these RNG perk books, which is quite ironic since TFP want to avoid exactly that. One of the goals of the new perk system was to not have major content or character classes/ roleplays being blocked by random number generation or "can't find this book to craft a bike, etc". So we achieved that but books were always fun to find.
Prior to A17 they had said they intended to make guns much rarer and to have mods as chase items to replace hunting for gun parts. Don't know what happened to that, but atm they seem to grow on trees.2) The removal of gun parts meaning the game just lost any sense of end-game. I am maxed out by day 30. No more need or reason to explore and loot after that. Previous alphas used to give me 100 days before I'd be anywhere near maxed out.
AI will be further refined for sure and I think that in the future with faatal adding more AI profiles, that "beeline" horde behavior will be far less obvious.3) Zombie AI. Pin-pointing weak blocks with sapper-like efficiency means a lot of the base designs I used to enjoy are no longer viable. I adapted of course, but this made horde night super dull and predictable.
Right. I don’t leave reviews for incomplete games because I feel like I might be doing some injustice... perhaps not at the moment, but when they are eventually finished.Even if it seems unfair, having gotten so much bang for your buck, the purpose of a review is to reflect your view of the current state of the game after all, so I can't exactly blame the OP. The thing that is not taken enough into account though, is that this is still an alpha and most things are bound to change.
*smacks forehead*Except your meal analogy doesn't work. Meals don't change while you're eating them, and you can never eat the same meal twice.
yeah, right...i'm just messing around here instead of making a mod. This happens to me for the first time. Even A13 made me angry and motivated me to do things/// The amount of energy you are putting into this thread is astounding. You could have tailor made rwg files to meet your expectations and modded it to perfection by now.///
No, it does not work - every emotion has its purpose.Scream into the void all you want, threads like this never change TFP mind set, they just make the OP's look like petulant children. Spend that energy elsewhere, it doesn't convince anyone of anything other than you having unrealistic expectations for how the world is supposed to cater to you.
I would much prefer a section allotted to goodbye posts, where you can only reply if your comments are rude and full of drama. It'd be interesting if players were only allowed to give their OPINION of the game --->ONCE<--- (one instance) on this board. Just like the Steam reviews, you only get one post where you express your viewpoints and can update them if they change. One thread called "Reviews" or "My 7D2D" where you can rant and rave or praise and glorify to your heart's content.
This would not preclude any discussions about new features, suggestions, bugs, etc., but just no drama allowed....
