PC why is 7 days (now 1.3. b9) GETTING SO BORING? we are at day 56 and are bored as heck (10k map with 1200extra pois)

I would say that "getting bored" is really depends on what type of player you are. I would highlight some common categories of 7DTD players:
1. survival enjoyers
2. challenge seekers
3. RPG players (loot goblins)

Survival players have a hard time, because after few days the game become simple to survive regarding food, water or enviroment. Mods are the solution for these players.

Those looking for a challenge can be satisfied by brutal huge hordes, zombie Behemots and god knows what else.

I personally am ARPG player. I am playing 7DTD like Diablo game. Start with "white" pipe machine gun and zero stats, i am making progress to purple M60, max skills and gyrocopter. Once it's achieved, it is time for new game with new character.
Maybe some legendary "named" items to hunt could pick my interest?

I'm curious what will be the direction of the game in future.

During the streamer weekend for v1 I made a suggestion to TFP regarding legendary parts.
T0 items need 1 legendary part
T1 = 2 parts
T2 = 3 parts
T3 = 4 parts
Armour - 2 parts

This would have offset to abundance of how much legendary parts are in loot, and it would incentivise people to craft a T0 Q6 item knowing it doesn't cost the same amount of parts that a T3 Q6 does.

Additionally, I suggested that weapons and tools also got a boost from Q5 to Q6, giving a damage boost equal to 3 qualities higher (example, baseball bat dmg is +6 instead of +2) as well as an extra mod slot. Only armour gets a decent boost from Q5 to Q6.

If I loot a Q5 machete, I won't bother crafting a Q6, as it'll only boost my dmg by 2.5 which is negligible.

Edit: Additionally, the claw hammer and nailgun need a buff for higher qualities, they only get a boost to durability, which is horrible when repair kits are dirt cheap to craft. These tools should repair +20% per quality (same with the stone axe for repair amount)

Getting bored is very subjective to the individual playing and how they play and how much they enjoy the game.

Once I start to get bored I start a new game and do things differently. I think the replay value is very high due to the amount of customization The Pimps have added to the game. I personally never get tired of playing the game.

Just when I start to think I've done everything and seen everything, I discover something new I hadn't tried yet. With the future additions of biome hazards, bandits, new Zed types, it'll be even more to do. I just really hope game optimization can at least be improved significantly for console players, then I'll be completely satisfied.

I know every spawn point of zeds and all the loot boxes in POIs. After hitting 1300 h+, the game becomes repetitive and predictable. Nothing new under the sun.

I think the biggest issue we have as veteran players is vanilla is easy after hundreds of hours. I have 1000+ hrs of actual game play. 95% of that is solo, so vanilla seems super safe to me. This is why I mod my game and edit the spawns rates. I turn up spawn rates to 3x normal with respawn daily in the wilds, for cities respawn is 2x a day. Once you do this there is never a dead town/biome. I also use random horde mods to give us back those random hordes that seem to be missing.

If you don't think zombies destroy blocks anymore, you probably need to change the block damage. You can solve that problem with a few clicks. Spawn rates, just open the Spawn XML and edit the totals and how often they show up.

Now all that said. It's really SILLY of you to assume something after 1000+ hrs wouldn't become boring/routine. That is what happens when you become an expert in anything even video games. Without injecting chaos into the equation, it WILL be boring/predictable.

Turn on Feral Sense (this is how smell used to work if I am not mistaken) Go grab a couple wandering horde mods from nexus, Walker Sim 2 is cool as well. Adds thousands of Zeds to the map that travel across the map. They only impact CPU when they are in view, keeps things from getting boring.

I don't think we will get a HARDER more engaging vanilla game. TFP has to balance the game for people that are new and people that have a 100hrs in game. If you have 1000+hrs you are the exception, and are not the person they are making the game for anymore. That is just truth, you can't split a hair between new player/1000+hr player and achieve something both people love without tweaking game settings or using mods.

I can't say that I know every point, but for some POIs I really know where and what is. And this speeds up the game a lot.

It doesn't matter TOO much how you do it, but however you choose to do it, stretching out progression will get you more play time out of a given map.

These days it's trivial to solve so many problems. For example, even if you're a new player, your food problems are pretty much over by the second time you plant crops. And so on...

Takes a lot of tweaking of settings to slow the game down.

The nastier zombies coming in 2.0 might help add some late-game difficulty too.

One thing I would like to see is an alternate way to get T6 missions without having to do trader missions. Not sure what the best way might be though.

Suggested Way to Play: Prepare for horde night. Horde night. Rinse. Repeat. *yawn* The loop is overcooked in that respect, imo. The game seems to be built for base builders looking for ways to game the AI, which I think may be a side effect of garnering feedback all but exclusively from streamers and YouTubers and attempting to stump them in their neverending efforts to cheese the AI. If you're not a zombie funnel designer/builder, there's not much to see and do aside from admire the architecture of some of the various POIs. So, I can understand from where some of the old timers are coming in their criticisms.

At the same time, there are so many customization options, you can still play it as everything from a zombie funnel builder to a homesteading sim, which is among the reasons I think it would be best to limit and/or cordone off the linearity that's been introduced of late.

I think it's more that if you don't build a zombie funnel, the zombies will build their own.  It's why the current AI is so boring and predictable.

Because the game has nothing to do, there is no reason to go outside of the forest save for maybe a single trip to desert for oil shale, You basically do not have any food or water problems after the first week, ammo is plentiful so no real reason to craft it usually. Game just lacks anything fun to do. This is why you go to mods. Mods are the only thing keeping 7dtd alive for me as the vanilla game has been crap since after a16.4 in a17 and up. Alot of the sandbox elements have been removed to try to force a certain playstyle, they expect you to use guns but spawn screamers on you after like 20 or less shots so guns are now alot less viable and meleeing ferals/rads is quite ineffective due to how much of a bullet sponge they are and how weak melee weapons are.

I have over 10800 hours in 7dtd, and i'd say over 95% of that is prob modded, I been around since alpha 10.2. Currently playing a mod called Afterlife, it uses a completly action skill based skill system including base stats, I'm on day 22, and still can get my ass handed to me by ferals very easly as progression is massivly slowed down in AL, and there is MUCH MUCH more to do in the mod.

TL:DR if vanilla is boring start using some overhaul mods, some of them completly change the entire game experience like Afterlife mentioned above, or add alot more too it like Darkness Falls does. Darkness Falls uses the a16.4 learn by doing skill system, but fixed properly. You wanna use blunt weapons? you use them to up blunt skill so you can learn the blunt line of perks, No stat BS. Mining tools? you harvest stuff with them, and can learn the perks assoiated with them etc. Darkenss Falls for example has 3-4 tiers of enemies above radiated, and also has 3 new tiers of weapons and armor to deal with them. It adds Coil guns, Titanium weapons and armor, and some sci-fi stuff like laser guns, You also need these weapons to properly deal with the higher tier enemies. So they aren't just there for a damage increase. Many zombies in DF have new special abilities as well. Like Tourist, Hazmat, Big momma now all have cop zombie behvaior where they spit and suicide bomb you like cops do, which adds a new strategic element to them, as they aren't just bullet sponges now, they are now a real threat at range. Joke mod is also a fun mod its more vanilla + style where its largely vanilla but has a whole bunch of new weapons, zombies, enemeis, vehicles weapons etc.

SO yeah, if vanilla is boring, get into modding the game, the overhauls are super easy to install usually are just as simple as extracting a zip file to the right place. As vnailla i don't think is going to ever go anywhere, as vanilla has been a stagnant pool gameplay wise for a good 8 years. if anything it keeps losing features and not gaining any.

The bullet sponge problem is going to get even worse in 2.0 aka alpha 23 or 24, because they are introducing 2 new tiers above radiated zombies, but have given 0 new tiers of gear to deal with them, so the bullet sponge problem is just going to get even worse in 2.0.

i know that iv played 5600 hours on this game.,

but some mechanics are made FOR NEW players SO EASY , thats boring (yes i put a lot of mods in my game, to make it unique and change lots in the xmls)

but here are some things

1.>trader progression...i complete 1 trader = i complete ALL traders ...before it was trader 1 quest>6 = i go to next city trader and start at 1

like i MUST play quests in ALL biomes....now u start level6 quest in EVERY trader

2.> finding rare items, like measuring cup / melting pot, BEFORE i find this itemas at circa at day 40 (180min days)..now at day 10 i have it (its not more rare)

3.> the looting...in normal things u loot BEFORE they were cool balanced stuff in (in quantity and quality)...NOW u MUST level it, or u find only scrap in minor quantity

4.> or the mining...with a driller level 6 i must be REALTIME 1 hour to get 30.000 iron/steel....now i made this in 5-8min REALTIME

5.> the 2 screamer problem....its SO ANNOYING, u dont have a change to kill the screamer fast enough, before they get 40 other zombies, we run now to screamer and kill them, but they are SO fast in reappear...thats not good balanced (the new screamer sound is so bad...the old u have shaking bones when they scream..but now its a cheap horror film scream, nothing special)

6.> the block destruction from zombies...the spitting cops have destroyed blocks with 3xspit..they deomolisher was a horror...now spitter= 80% lower block damage, demolicer 80% lower (i made myself the demolitier harder loool, now its a little more fun)

why EVERY game MUST be SOOOOO EASY to win?

7 days was hard every time....the mining was the special part, u get there hours only in mining (it was so calming lol, chill out drill hahahahahaha)

a lol fun fact : u can drive now with car/motorbike/bike thru spikes hahahaha..its a so freaky error

fun caft 2: we have the hostile chickens in the game (they are sooooooo cool) BUT not in the game for use....WTF....the 7days people can makee that a wild chicken horde attacks u every hour...it woud be so funny (i wand killer versions of all animals..i want a burning deer that attacks me....or a burning bunny )

I've found beakers on Day 1 before, in A17 in fact.  Not new, it's just RNG.  Probably not in A16, but I know I've found them in the first week or two back then.

It never took an hour real-time to get 30k iron, unless we're talking when you got the iron that had to be melted down/scrapped before you could use it (in which case that's equivalent to 120k of the iron we get now.)  Especially with a level 6 Auger.  Yes, as a dedicated miner, I can pull 200k iron out of a mine in an hour to an hour and a half using a Steel Pick nowadays.  I'll still go through it in an in game week or less (and let's not even discuss stone...I go through millions of stone in a typical playthrough.)

I will admit, I find screamers incredibly annoying to the point that I should probably get a mod to get rid of them.  They're not hard, just tedious (granted, I feel that way about pretty much all biome zombies.)

i remember times when we played day 300 and it was fun

all was hard to collect (cars at day 80), the zombies destroyed the base every time

now we can make motorbike at day 10, zombies doesnt destroy blocks at horde night

long time ago the melting pot / measering cup are so hard to find

now all thing are so easy to find...its nothing special to play

and we have mods that makes the weather very hard

BUT its very boring..the horde night seems so boring, nothing special, 1600 zombies kill, nothing special, nothing went destroyed, we dont have scary from the demolisher

we play level 4, feral on, run speed

WHATS HAPPENED????, its like the balance of the game between collecting/crafting/horde is out of order

the bloodmoon isnt so exting like the old in start 1.0..its only bored killing

one VERY stupid thing is: when u go to other trader, it do not start at level 1 (when u have level 6 ended at 1 trader)

i want to hear other opinions

it feels like "7 days was a very special game" > now its "commercial" and it has lost all his specials

for 2.0 the new biomes things are nice...but the bored looting "clothes" we u DONT get clothes, when u loot shoes, u DONT get shoes, when u loot boxes its so much crap in it (its like u MUST level it, or u find nothing)
You're so right mate.

Even the servers have fake player numbers, fake company's hosting them, fake sob story's to extract payments from donators, whom cheat and it gets over looked.

I would suggest joining Zyclon Astoria server. Best map on the game. Amazing community. No cheaters, no toxic people, no swearing. You'll enjoy it.

Makes sense….lol

I mean most of that is playing it modded with massive overhauls, and not vanilla, as I am bored in vanlla within the first 6-7 hours. Might be a bit longer then 2.0 hits, It'll be the first time i'll have played vanilla since well 1.0. I try the new alpha, which btw 2.0 just sounds like it makes the games problems worse and not fixing them.

ok i must say the UPDATE 1,4 b8...

7days now more fun

-the minibike doenst have light

-the weather changes faster, the rain drops are bigger

-heat/cold balance is more better now

and little small other things
