PC Why anyone plays Nomadic?

Run, near multiple 2 floor dwelling, precut hole on edge of roof, small cache of supplies each location. Fight in street running int poi slam door drop a couple blocks at door, fight at windows, when/if breached climb ladder to ledge, jump down no sprain, fight way to next poi, lead them to gas-barrel traps, rinse repeat. But the first few i make a L-V-shaped wall approx 3 high and 10 long, with my back in corner, so no sneak ups. Then stay alive as long as i can.

But on 7th day multiples i make a zipped copy, at about 9pm. to play over again if I want. I like the rush.

It gets harder with each patch to really live nomadic but it is still possible. The challenge and the thrill of discovery. What's around the corner, over the next hill. People who enjoy inventory management get that in spades....deciding what to keep, what to trash, what can be compressed, etc.

I play strictly nomadic for two primary reasons. #1: Building has never interested me in these kinds of games. #2: Exploration is my favorite part of these games.

Now, let me address your points.

- Workstations: I usually have a few "bases" scattered about the map where I've visited. I'll have workstations setup there, but I don't use them much.

-Farming: I don't do it. It's simple to get everything I need to survive from hunting and scavenging.

-easier to defend against 7 day hordes: Rooftops are completely safe. Knock out the first two rungs of the ladder and use a wood frame to hop up on the ladder. Snipe zombies or just chill til morning.

-more diverse and interesting gameplay: Let's agree to disagree. I get bored if I'm in the same area for too long

-self expressing as building fantastic castles/structures: If you like that sort of thing, I guess.

-loot hoarding (for loot addicts): I am a loot addict. I keep several "bases" with loot but usually move my important loot with me to the next area. Once the area around me is completely looted it's time to move on.

based on what i've been hearing all those nerdpole or "knock out the ladder" tricks are going to be harder to pull off going forward. which will make it more fun imo. however on multiplayer servers i think it will lead to more servers doing periodic "reloads" of city chunks, after too many working stiffs and shotgun messiahs get torn down to their bare foundations

Nothing would please me more and I'd love some info on how they plan to do that. At the same time, if roofs become unsafe there's always underground bases, and if they somehow figure out a way to make those unsafe too, there's always chugging beers or grain alcohol and hoofin' it. There's just too many ways around the 7th day horde for it to really be a threat to experienced players.

Out of interest does any who plays Nomad "run" on horde nights or is it the standard "camp a roof on POI" approach?
Usually I run and fight all night under alcohol buff. decent quality machete/spiked club and crossbow are enough on early stages, but alcohol is main point - stun immunity.

And after 2k+ hours I'm just tired of building, and play half-nomadic: I'm take any POI, place LCB there, and replace doors. Later I upgrade walls. And no fortification of any kind. Just exploring travelling, and fighting zeds. Sometimes building something, for relax and decoration.

A workaround for any alcohol could be that even just the 'buzzed' buff makes you 80% speed so most zombies will catch up to you. Or simply make horde night zombies run about 20% faster than they do now so that you cannot outrun them initially, especially wights and dogs, as they're particularly speedy already. You could also stop barbwire and spike spam by making the placed spike be a 'placeholder' type block that you manually have to upgrade with a construction tool to make the actual barb wire or spikes.

However this leaves the jeep and minibikes. I have a tendency to not use any form of vehicle on horde nights, unless I have made an event for that specific vehicle. Example, back in A14 I made a bike stunt course and had to run over the horde. To get to safety I had to use stunt ramps, at which point I could target the horde with weapons from my perch before they'd eventually destroy the platform. The horde was mainly zombie bears too, which was fun. But for a regular horde night, I'm a run & gun type of person so maybe having faster zombies could be a good thing, since that way the only way you can outpace them in the street is with good shooting skills or some very well timed melee.
