Who wants Alpha 11 as the Sandbox Version

Soo, you're looting the bookshelves, next to the mailbox, but you skip the mailbox? Like I said, yes, Alt-F4 is an option.

Why? Why waste the resources for the quality tiers that last a day?

Yep, our play styles are just too different. Even though I’ve stated many times through the years that I don’t prioritize leveling up and making it the point of playing you still just naturally assume that if I’m not spam opening mailboxes then I must be spam opening bookshelves and that I progress through quality tiers as quickly as a tier per day. No.

I get lots of gameplay out of each tier and I do just one trader job a day in my normal playthroughs. When I go out to loot POIs it is usually to find something I need like vitamins or a cooking pot or crafting materials or seeds. I dont ignore bookshelves and I certainly don’t ignore bookstores when I find them. But it isn’t the focus of my game.

Equating pressing AltF4 to choosing not to focus on leveling up as quickly as possible is good snark but there is a big difference between choosing not to play the game at all and choosing not to approach it in a min/max context. But perhaps not for you if you can’t bring yourself to play it in any other way.

I keep seeing people refer to this "Min/Max" playstyle. What is that exactly? Can someone please explain that for me? Thx.

You tell me you get books naturally in the wild, and you don't touch mailboxes for days. You tell me you loot bookshelves. Next, please tell me the POIs that come with bookshelves, but not with a single mailbox attached / nearby in grabbing range - and how are you landing only in those for days on end? It's not that I don't understand you not taking the free skill points when offered; it's that I don't understand what POIs you're actually playing.

And the whole mention of "mailbox" was to refer to book-loot-containers in POIs; which are impressively balanced to track with your loot levels, you get mildly ahead in crafting vs looting in a "normal" quest spam fashion. Which makes whichever route you choose, looting or crafting, the same; you go raid POIs. And if you chose crafting, you hope you Don't get a good weapon in the end loot... so you can craft it instead. That's silly as design. But let's conflate my minmaxing abilities with the silly design, so we don't have to talk about the design.

Basically, instead of walking like the zombies do, in 90 or 45 degree angles; you take the direct route to your destination. Your destination may vary, whether it's max level, best-in-slot equipment, or whatnot, taking the best way towards it is frowned upon by some people. Instead you get slurred as a min/maxer and ignored for walking in straight lines.

Meaning people who cut corners taking shortcuts to objectives instead of the suggested direction?

I don't see you attempt for an "honest conversation". I see abrasive, antagonistic, bad faith trolling. I might be wrong, and maybe you are sincere in your attempts just utterly unable to have a polite, civil conversation. If so you should try to figure out why you come across so offensive and stop blaming others. The fact that you are banned isn't because people are out to get you, it is because you are uncouth and disruptive to civil discourse.

Who is "he"? Are you still laboring under the confusion that the moderators here are representatives for TFP? The moderators doesn't have to answer your needy and entitled "demands" for answers, nor does TFP. If you dislike the game so much, just stop playing and go on with your life like a normal human being. This pestering for a response is childishly embarrassing.
You have read everything I have posted? You don't understand the arguments? you are getting pretty personal...that's why I asked if you are his alt account. This is a site for the game...yes? So they should answer questions...yes? even the ones they don't like.
even the ones that break their narrative.
I don't give a sweet ■■■■ about your opinion of me, ask around, deal with me honestly and we will get along just fine. ■■■■ me around and I will return the favour.

people min/max in different ways. a good example would be taking one point in lockpick to increase your odds in getting those magazines...which gets cut off I think at 15...so if you saved those instead of reading them and combined the increased drop odds with wearing nerd armor to increase the chances of getting a free book level every time you read a book. they save time overall on unlocking the tree. Not my cup of tea.
but that's probably my best example. I hope i explained it clearly.

Sure, one way to say it. "The suggested way" may be the optimal way, but when not. "Cutting corners" has a negative connotation, while min/maxing is just neutrally optimization.

according to @Roland that's the version they plan on going with for the Sandbox version.
and does this mean that TFP are NOT BOTHERING to ask us what we want?
Aight, I'll put my 2 cents in. Or with current inflation more like .5 cents!

Have never played Alpha 11 so of course I can't comment on that. But I'm more interested in, curious about how exactly playing experimental versions of the game plays out, pardon the pun.

Being on Xbox I don't have that opportunity to participate along with the, dare I say it, PC Master Race! Sorry couldn't resist. 😉 So I'm curious about how that works.

Is the goal of playing the experimental version only to provide feedback on bugs or also on features you don't like, features not popular? If both, then will the Pimps remove features that people don't like if they get a slew of feedback saying we don't like this?

Min/Max, minimun of time/resources invested for the maximun returns.

P.s. there is two ways to look at it. You are being efficient. A negative connotation is you are gaming the game.

The big problem is when the min/maxers are "drowning in <insert favorite item here>" and out comes the nerf bat.

The reason to Release experimentals, is to get bug reports from a lot of people. Release to a 1000 individual players, you get valuable info about a 1000 different PC setups.

It's not usually intended to test out new features for "likability", but sometimes that is done too. I don't think TFP has ever intentionally released one for that purpose, the uproar just became overwhelming this time around.

So then, in the past after receiving mucho feedback on something "not likeable", have they ever removed a feature as a result?

I'm wondering because if yes, then that means they are not ignoring input from the community and are willing to compromise with their own vision for the game, right? And personally I believe they have demonstrated that.

he has posted his reasoning for going back to pre A11 this thread if that helps.

I won't comment on them.

I suggest playing the old console version again, just to get a feel for what we have seen people asking for. it is primarily A14 with parts of A15 and A16.

They've rolled back / adjusted some of the more disliked things, like daily quest limits, dew collector mechanics; even zombie pathing with the engineering decrees. I'm sure there's more. How much of that was due to listening to feedback and how much was pre-planned anyway is anyone's guess.

As a matter of fact, once v1.0 dropped on consoles, I went back to play the old Telltale version just to get a feel for the difference between the two.

There are aspects of the old version I must admit I do miss.

the old farming system...can't believe the Pimp's got rid of the Hoes...and just farming in the ground.
Not having any trader missions
Just going for a rip on the old minibike to see what is out there
