im still missing the public plans. the checklists. we can only see things when they update the main post. :/

to me its like they dont have that much confidence to show us the plans, becouse they might fail.

even if i like the game, this half year+ update process is a bit too much :(

tryhards and smarttoads keep saying its done when its done. defending the devs, showing their work more vulnerable.

overall, im sad... :/

still have the hype for the dungeons and quests

@Mikee

By now you should know what happens when any work in progress feature is shown.

That's why. LOL

First I wanted to nod knowingly when I read your post. BUT then I thought: On the other hand maybe you inside TFP have the problem of looking at your players through a distorting lens called the vocal minority and getting the wrong impression from it.

Naturally when you announce a feature and later drop it there is a small percentage of players who can't handle it and put up frequent posts about "YOU MURDERED MY BEHEMOTH", "In that video a jeep was promised, jeep-#gate!!!" or "Smell isn't working. IDIOTS, I could do this in 2 minutes AND I don't even know how to program". And this minority of professional ♥♥♥♥stormers and infantile know-it-alls has eroded your will to give out information to the rest of the forum users, the silent majority.

I have witnessed the bickering when 16.0... came out, the childish impatience and the insufficient manners of some. I can understand there is no desire to pamper that crowd. The interesting question is, is that a sizable portion of the forum?

While I don't know any of these guys personally, I feel I can speak with confidence that they are not cowed by vocal idiots. It is, however, most likely about managing expectations and being able to be confident about each release. When they release a half-made idea even with the best of intentions it tends to not get the best reception. I think they'd rather give people a nearly complete feature and polish it from there.

In no way it is - but everyone gets affected by the bickering and the arguing that ensues when some "jump in to defend TFP". (which is not necessary =)

It's like saying it's no problem when only one guy poops in the pool at every party. ;)

It's the loudest and that's the problem I feel. Outside the forum for those that even know the Behemoth was dropped most reactions were "Thank God it didn't fit"

This forum has the benefit of being a place where we can keep in close contact with the devs of the game, but at the same time that could be a double edged sword. Some knee jerk reactions become MUCH bigger affairs than the general public outside of here care about. Of course you have your big ticket items like minibikes, electricity and zombie AI that people unanimously agree need some love but then you have the more fringe type of controversies like #ChimneyGate that take on a life of its own and SEEM like a major deal but in the grand scheme are merely minor disagreements.

As much as I love being able to have my opinions at least glanced I hope the world of Fun Pimps is bigger than this forum when it comes to feedback and opinions. Many of us are veterans. With decent to expert knowledge of how things operate so our opinions are always going to be much different than that of the average gamer.

Pimps are shattering their own records each release. If you listened to a portion of people here you would think this game is a failure and losing hundreds of players daily. That is obviously very far from the case.

It's worth pointing out that in practice there's no such thing as giving out information 'to the forum'. This being the internet, anything posted virtually anywhere will also get disseminated to Twitter, Tumblr, YouTube, reddit, Steam forums, and no doubt other channels. So in addition to the vocal minority phenomenon you're describing, the overall feedback from forum users may also be skewed relative to the total community response.

Oh, and happy 3000th post, Maharin. :)
