What's the first thing you got rid of with V3?

My sanity, though technically i got rid of the compass, waypoints, location info and day/time.

There was nothing i disliked enough to get rid of, rather i turned everything up. Maximum heat generation gave me a screamer day 3 just because i used my campfire for 10 minutes...

Happy to see so many options for the people who hated various things to tone down or remove altogether though!

The missions and challenges although they aren't permanent—I'll reactivate the trader's missions in another playthrough in the future, but the game feels good without missions; just survive on your own.

Digging.

I never minded zombies being able to dig, but I like making elaborate, fancy underground bunkers and I do kind of hate the way that zombies dig. They create these giant pockets and meandering paths and then get lost in them. I end up having to go find the last little snarling ■■■■■■■ and then try to fill it all in.

Digging Zombies. i never really used underground bases to fight zombies, but i loved mining so much, and just can't stand that the zombies would come down to meet me lol.

I instantly removed the Map, Map Markers, Compass, Clock/calendar, Loot Respawn, Biome Progression, Challenges, Starter Quest, New Player Protection, Trader Questing, Zombie Digging, Trader Rekt. I turned the crafting stations in the world to 5%. I think I'll probably turn off Jar return also because they just annoy me in my backpack. I turned off Elites because electrified zombies running around doesn't make sense in "zombie world" afaic. I might have that wrong though...are the rock throwers and spitters the elites, or is it the blue and red ones? The heat map generation is too high by default, I'll turn that down, too many screamers early.

I actually quite like it. I find that I don't need the map anyway, I always thought biome progression, challenges, trader quests made it too much RPG and not enough Survival. Anyone with any time in the game is just annoyed by the tutorial quest and new player protection. There are calendars in the world to see what day it is. I think I heard there are clocks you can make? I play co-op at the moment but unfortunately you can't turn off your ally's arrow. You could decide not to ally but that's just too many issues. Digging is neither here nor there, I build in POI's anyway but shovel hands is silly. No loot respawn keeps me moving around. I don't mind having traders, but I can't deal with Trader Rekt's dialogue. I'll probably turn the dialogue back on when I find another trader besides him.

I want to start gauging interest in a multiplayer server with more "realistic" mechanics, at least as far as how you experience the world. Trying to create the most immersive experience I can with the tools they give us. It basically turns back time to when I thought 7D2D was at it's peak as far as immersion went, plus some new options to make it seem more bleak and apocalyptic again. Unfortunately, I haven't found a multiplayer (25+ players) server that even comes close to something like this and I'm not sure I'll have the inclination to start trying to set it up. Or maybe I will.

I would love any suggestions you think would bring a more apocalyptic/classic zombie feel to the game.

I've not really removed anything but if I could I'd remove screamers. As I am tired of firing 20 shots with a gun then I have a zombie come in that just summons multiple hordes, meanwhile I am still trying to deal with a radiated biker. They are summoned WAY to easly in a game where your expected to be using guns. I somehow summoned one last night on day 2 mining a bit of iron with a stone axe, i've never seen that before. So if I could shut screamers off, please tell me as I have always hated these things. I assume disabling the heatmap would do it, since they generally are the only thing spawned by it?

you do it with Heat Map I believe it's called

Yeah they should have left it where chance for screamer to spawn is at 100% heat, not 25% like they changed it to. Its why you can get them after 2 dozen shots or so with most guns. I was fine when it was at 100% heat, as it was manageable, but 25% heat as it is now? Its far to easy to hit that. Wonder where that setting can be changed, when the screamer spawn roll chance takes place, as I've really disliked it since it was made 25% heat. Most overhaul mods set it back to 100% heat as otherwise they are nearly unplayable with how often screamers would show up. Might just shut it off entirely for now, as I wanna have fun with the guns, not be punished for using them.

I set heat map to very low and have yet to see a screamer. I don't hate them, I just don't want them showing up every time someone farts.

I might turn it up to Low to see how that plays.

I'm hoping at low or very low heat map I see the occational screamer. But what I dont like is getting never ending screamers from them calling more in or from using guns to get rid of them and their party. heat low should at least prevent me unloading a clip into them and that action generating enough heat to spawn in another.

Definitely screamers. I think that whole mechanic is broken. It seems all you have to do is sneeze and they show up. I've had them spawn in while doing POIs using only melee, no guns. This happens all the time. I've had them spawn in when I return to my base, without a single workstation running. On top of that, they scream AFTER you kill them, and they don't even have to scream to summon their minions.

If TFP's goal with the screamers was to make the game more challenging, they should just instead increase the number and size of wandering hordes, IMO.
