What exactly does the loot bonus stat affect, and (roughly) how?
- We know it affects your chance for for items with a quality value to drop at a higher quality.
- Does it ever affect minimum quality you'll find? or effective minimum quality (like is there a loot bonus number you could reach where level 1 quality items will fall below a 5% drop chance?)
- does it affect what tier of items you get? For example a steel axe over an iron one in a working stiffs box, or steel arrowheads over iron ones?
- Does it affect quantity of items? will i find 27 rebar frames instead of 19 with a higher loot bonus?
- Does it affect remaining durability on an item when found? (will that level 3 shotgun have 75% durability left, or 25%?)
- Does it affect item rarity? Am i more likely to find a beaker in a lab crate than oil shale? Or an AK-47 in a gun box than a pistol? or a tool & die set than a garden hoe? It certainly seems like i find higher tier guns later in the game than earlier...if it IS related to loot bonus (and it may not be) then what exactly qualifies as "higher level loot" than lower level?
- is loot bonus what determines the variable XP upon seaching a container (I'd always assumed it was level, but i suppose it could be loot bonus, which would allow players to speed up (or avoid) levelling their characters by taking lucky looter)?
- what determines your overall loot bonus, OTHER than goggles and lucky looter perk? Is it gamestage, or just level (important for knowing if dying will suddenly lower your loot bonus)?
In short, we've been given this cool sounding stat, which we, as players, can choose to try to specialize in. The problem is that we're left guessing what exactly loot bonus applies to (hence the above questions) and HOW it applies (how significant is 1 point in lucky looter at level 1? at level 100?).
I know that certain devs are quite active in the forums here (and that is awesome btw), so If someone with "official" knowledge of how it applies could provide input, I'd be thrilled - but I'd also be content with a player who can decipher the xmls better than I providing feedback to any or all of these points (assuming the info can be gleaned there).
What I'm hoping WON'T happen is a bunch of responses making wild, uninformed, or underinformed guesses to the answers, or the 1 million and 1 people that have a random story about how they found a purple item that one time, and then didn't find one that one other time.
