PC V3.0 Sandbox Siege Dev Diary

Yeah, storm sounds would be enough, imo. There is also plenty of time to reach shelter if you're caught unawares unless you have absolutely no POI anywhere nearby. And even then, you could go underground if needed. So I don't think it's really a big deal to notify the player about a storm.
You can quickly build shelter if you're not near any POI as well.

But I still don't like the storms. I tried. I kept them on for a few months, but they still are more of a nuisance, inconvenience, a forced time-out, etc for me than an interesting aspect of the game. I wish I could remember how they worked in Conan Exiles. I don't remember them bothering me in that game...though I think they only happened in the desert area.

I still think there might be a more clever and engaging way they can be implemented.

I'm not the biggest fan of them either. BUT I'd rather turn off the damage than just get rid of the storms all together. I like the random chance for the zambs to go crazy, and rage during a storm. That part is fun. The vehicles behaving as poorly as they do... i can live with that, but honestly 4x4 should only be slowed down, and the other vehicles should have various effects from poor performance to drifting.

I have storms at 50%, but honestly, I rarely see them. Granted, I spend little time outside the pine forest just because ranchers/chuck are annoying and burnt/wasteland are ugly. The times I do encounter them, they seem more like a slight annoyance than being something exciting or scary or anything. Just need to hop inside every couple of minutes and wait a bit, then go back to doing whatever you were doing.

That said, they do look pretty cool when you see them happening in another biome.

I think we are very close to releasing an experimental version.
Sadly, that doesn't mean much since it happened that they posted many updates/builds on SteamDB on the same day, a few times during the last few weeks.
I would think that TFP test some settings, make a few changes and test those settings again.

But thanks for posting this as I would probably have done the same soon. 😁

i think you guys are getting worked up for nothing...nothing that has been said, has hinted at, it will be ready "any minute".

I doubt we are going to get better communication about this any time soon...the Senior Community Manager Position is still open.

I will take the position as SCN! i vote myself!

all i ask is 30 bucks a hour and a trader rekt t-shirt and plushy.

Yeah, unfortunately, the information The Fun Pimps released back during the 2.0 update was much better!

They just keep staying silent!
I really want to know why!!!!

But—and I know this for a fact—we will never get an answer!
Sadly, I’ve been a fan of this game for far too long to expect otherwise.

Surely they must already know whether a release is scheduled for June, or if—since the Streamer Weekend takes precedence—it will likely be pushed back to August.

Thanks for reading; and yes, I’ve vented my frustration—now I’m back to being as sweet as a chicken in a coop (in 3.0?????).

Cheers!

I'm not so sure there will be a streamer weekend for the 3.0 update. It's basically lots of new settings to play the game the way you want to, but that's nothing very exciting to see in a stream, but much better to experience ourselves.
And if they have anything else in 3.0 that's new, then they would spoil it for everyone by showing it in a dev stream, or have people show all of it during the streamer weekend.

I think it would be best to release the 3.0 Experimental build when ready and let players discover things on their own. Maybe with Behaviour Interactive on board, this might be the case.

My theory is that, given TheFunPimps' experience with bandits that never show up, failed roadmaps, and other disappointments, they might now prefer to save more surprises for the launch or the experimental server—a bit like HelloGames does with No Man's Sky.

I find it hard to believe that, with so much time having passed since versions 2.0 and 2.5, the biggest new feature in 3.0 is just the new game options. I doubt the creators of models, textures, maps, or POIs have been sitting idle all this time... unless they’re focused on another game.

Have you found out what's included in version 3.0? I only know 100 gameplay simulations, chicken coop and learning by doing
Well, the claims regarding the chicken coop and "learning by doing" have never actually been confirmed. In any case, I’ve certainly never heard it stated that these features are guaranteed to be included in version 3.0.

All that was said is that they are being worked on! That’s why it drives me absolutely nuts that there is no information available!

But don't the streamers always get the weekend off with every major update?

My memory of things was that it took 4-6 weeks to organize a streamer weekend, but didn't some part of that get outsourced? I guess what I'm saying is if somebody is starting a pool for when 3.0 becomes available, I would be looking further out than a couple of weeks from now.
