PC V3.0 Dead Hot Summer Dev Diary

You’re holding me to a post I made 10 years ago?
i think its more of the fact you begged the pvp community not to go play rust or counterstrike, than turned your back on pvp players, where im from thats called alot of things.

That's called a complete misread of what's being said. The part you highlight there is part of "please don't turn this into a fight over whether this game is fit for pvp" .. nothing to do with "asking people to stay in this game, instead of Rust", everything to do with "asking people not to start a pointless flame war on the forum".

That’s not what I was doing. I was setting rules for discussion because one of the common tactics of anti-PVP forum members whenever discussions came up 10 years ago was to tell PVP players “to go away and play Rust”. I wanted the discussion to stay on topic and not devolve into such unproductive posts. In no way was I begging for people to stay with this game.

Next spin?

If bandits could yoink your vehicles if you leave them unlocked, that would be a comical prank to follow up on the place-vehicles-unlocked change. Realism!
If bandits could pillage your drone storage if you forgot you told it to wait somewhere a la new-DOOM upgrade drones, that'd be unpleasantly entertaining. Same for vehicle storage, too, if it's unlocked as above.
If bandits could raid your campfire (or base storages) and steal your food like a significant other with an unattended plate, that'd be fine, too. Make locking things a factor?
If bandits could go in the in-game chat and apply insults about my gameplay and/or mother in the middle of a fight, that'd be amusing - probably moreso than if they just had mocking voicelines, because it's easy to miss audio as things are happening. (Possible AI intertwining for unique chat insults?)
If I spot a bandit with a rocket launcher within eyesight of my pure, innocent puppy of a base, I rather think I should feel a twinge of panic about whether he's loaded with frag or HE rockets, because there's a bit more at stake in 7DtD than if I saw a schmoe with a Fat Man in Fallout.

Certainly, these are things that could easily happen in a PvP environment - but just because I might enjoy something that vaguely emulates people, that doesn't mean I want to actually deal with people. A NPC bandit is vastly less likely to hold a petty grudge than YOLORizzomancerbarelyevenknowher443, and giving character to things is rarely ever a downside.

Honest question. Why do people who dont like this game spend time posting on the forums. Cant they just play a game they like or join another forum of something they like?

There are many games I dont like, I simply dont play them or post on their forums.

where are the people who don't like the game? or do you take complaints to mean people don't like the game?

I don't know if that was meant as a general statement or an indirect comment at me...or if you just genuinely don't understand the difference between not liking the management vs not liking the game?

care to clarify?
