V2.5+ Survival Revival Dev Diary

We always get the next update "when it's done" so update numbers are meaningless. 2.6 could be called 365_035A and it wouldn't change anything; It's just a number. For TFP internally, it's easier for them to keep track of things being worked on, but for us... Who cares!
Hey! We got a new update, great!
agree to disagree...we've gotten a few updates that were in no way ready when they were released. You know that is true.

Maybe if they explained what they intend with this numbering change it would make complete sense...I am open to that. But, until then, I am free to just assume that they are changing it because they are aware of how long it will take to get Bandits out and then updated and don't want it to look like there's a huge gap in time for another .0 update.

funny...it seems it causes deeply incurious people more stress to even read a question.
Funny... because while reading one of your posts causes us a moment of irritation - once done reading I'll never think about it again. Whereas you keep on gnawing and whining and ■■■■■ing and that can't be enjoyable. But feel free to just keep on doing whatever makes you you. :)

Not exactly. Major numbers are usually used to indicate possibly incompatible changes. Minor numbers usually indicate bug fixes and less disruptive changes. Important word here is "usually". The (only slightly interesting) questions is if they want to change their numbering for internal reasons or for external reasons (i.e. what players will assume when a major or minor number changes)

They did. They are doing more X.0 version.
A lot of things are not fleshed out yet, but we will probably hit 8.0 to 10.0 in about 22 months. ;)

A real Romero mode...would have zombies all on Walk and entity damage at 200%...come on now!
Also head shot only, which is a sandbox option and it comes with two different modes.

pvp would like to see sandbox option for damage amount done by other players
one of the biggest complaints from the pvp community it doesn't make much sense that players can do ungodly damage but player health is very limited to that.
that would be a good first step into balancing pvp.

Seeing Allow Zombie Digging as a sandbox option had me wonder - would it be likely to have a sandbox setting for how 'intelligent' the zombie AI is in regards to how frequently they attack important structural blocks? I'm mainly curious about if it's possible since I don't know how the AI works, but if it is possible, that'd be something pretty amazing for a sandbox setting.

Ooh, or a setting to set some kind of structural integrity scale for more or less fragile vertical support on blocks too

I wish they had used that kind of version numbering system. It would avoid people thinking that the game is done since it's 1.0 and higher, and it would help reduce people bemoaning the version numbers.... oh, no... 3.0 is delayed....

Yet if we are going to start seeing more "major" versions, then that suggests minor updates that may not risk compatibility issues make be labeled as a major update, causing confusion.
