V2.5 Survival Revival Dev Diary

I'm officially on PC my 7dtd runs at at perfect 60 fps. Granted I got a few kinks in my system but its nice
So nice! I'm happy for you. What specs do you have (if you don't mind sharing)?

My specs:

Intel I9 9900K
Nvidia GeForce RTX 3080 Ti
Samsung 32:9 Odyssey G9 monitor at 5120 x 1440 resolution
64GB memory
2 NVMe SSDs (2TB and 4TB)

Windows 11 (but experimenting with Linux on CachyOS, 7 Days to Die runs pretty well so far)

For a PC that I build over 7 years ago, it still runs games pretty well, even at 5120 x 1440 resolution. For 7 Days to Die, I usually get around 100 - 120 FPS (depending if I run a solo game or host one I play with my brother).

A few other things are temporary

I don't recall seeing that. I asked two testers and they have not seen it. I will keep an eye out for it. Thanks!
Maybe I wasn't clear enough. A bug report would say something like this:

"Standing undead entities unable to properly target upper block if lower block doesn't allow for them either to hit it or pass through on a short basis, creating a HUGE window of opportunity for the player, window that doesn't always get resolved before they are dead... again"

It occassionally happens with closet jump-scare doors too! though I don't understand why that;s possible... maybe they target the drawer block below?

Some plain non-curly, non-dented Curtains have a very thin upper block, they can't properly target it with their AI and they somehow clip in a movement position. It happens with several other blocks, like the bullseye 1/2 window without window or whatever it's called and store's glass metal doors with the thin bar in the middle, those with low hp glass that easily breaks.

Dam, I was hopping to avoid a report and you are making me do it. Let's say that I'll target the blocks next time I pass by and give proper examples if you can't find them. Thank you for your patience and to hell with my descriptions.

I've seen it happen a lot of times ever since zombies were given the ability to crawl through a 1-block gap - they love getting stuck behind/in desks and under floors too. Can't say i ever saw it happen much prior to them being able to crawl through 1 block gaps.

This one happens every single time i go to Nick's Motel, at least one zombie will always get stuck under the table (2 of them in this clip)

Obviously i'm on xbox so no mods, just vanilla.

I was looking at my old screenshots..good times

I'm really looking forward to the 2.6 or whatever update will give more opinions for our console brothers and sisters.

As a console player myself, top of my wishlist is better performance....... anything else is a bonus! I love the game, but dying due to microstutters and tanking framerate is my biggest annoyance.

There is a POI where you go up into the attic for the loot room, and there is a small alter in the attic. At 1 point as you are following the path, you go outside on the roof, go around into a destroyed bathroom. right outside the bathroom door is 1 of those 4 legged tables, that are a single block. The zombies love crawling under neath that thing to get to me.

It makes me wonder if that can be used for a base/hallway.

Yeah the crawling mechanic has them do some strange stuff and at times, some interesting stuff.

I agree with others, they need to fix the fact that they 1st target the lower blocks when trying to reach the player.
It's just weird plus leads to said strange behaviors.

The next update should fix that.

I think it is kind of random. Faatal said they were previously set to prioritize higher blocks and then 2.5 made changes to improve that in some way. In my last horde night, I had blocks that were broken that were not on the bottom row, so they did sometimes skip targeting the bottom row at times. Other places had the bottom row broken, so it is probably random.
