PC V2.0 Storms Brewing Dev Diary

Considering I'm part Native American and have full blooded Native American family members, I still don't see that as a problem. The game is set in a location with a sizable Native American population. And it isn't unusual to have groups form based on certain things, like race. We didn't even know for sure that the Duke is actually "bad". More likely, both sides have their problems. Just because people are bandits doesn't mean they are necessarily bad or even wrong. I won't get into politics, but the whole view today is political correctness and similar talk is just a way for people to be racist while appearing to be against it.

Exactly. It's the post-apocalypse. There's likely no real good guys, no real bad guys, just humans doing what humans do when resources are scarce.

I actually think it would be really cool for story mode to let the player choose sides. Sort of like how factions work in the STALKER games.

The Native American design they showed was the new Plague Spitter.

They did also say during the stream that most of the bandits would be Native Americans.

I'm fine with the PS being a Native American, since the design isn't a stereotype. But having most/all of the bandits is kind of a red flag. They can and should be more mixed - some Caucasian, some African-American, some Native, etc etc.
You're right! I was talking with my brother a few minutes ago (while playing 7 days to Die of course) and he told me that this was the new Plague Spitter. I guess I got up during the stream at some point and totally missed that.
I do like the Plague Spitter and Frost Claw a lot, but the new Spitter will fit the game better.
That Frost Claw animation where he picks up the bolder and throws at you is fantastic and I'm sad to see it go. The people who did that work are amazing.

as I understand it...the animation will be given to a beefed up/adapted lumberjack looking guy that is taking its place

The frostclaw model may be chasing, but the throwing attack will probably still be there. Adjusted a bit to work with the new model, not mostly the same.

Maybe they should revisit one of the two other Snow (lumberjack?) Zombies that used to be in the game a very long time ago.
For people who don't, there used to be 3 main zombies in the snow biome, kind of like the lumberjack, one was a female and the other one was a skinnier version of the lumberjack we have now. In the early days of playing the game, these were scary.
Maybe it could be a female lumberjack, big and strong... Something that would make Big Mama look like an angel compared to her. 🫣
You, know, like an ugly and angry Karen who goes crazy because it took more than 2 minutes to get her BigMac. 😁

Hey more zombies the better imo. I do wanna see more normal Zombies

Devs will have to bring back the s*it ingame (it was in game till A14 I think), because there will be a lot of it.

A good reason to bring back fertilizer back also. Want better crops ? Go see a Big Momma`s Mom in the snow biome !

It is being replaced because too many people complained about it being fantasy.

Maybe they will leave the model in the code for modders to add back.
While I and many of us understand these guys` point of view, I think the model and the concept behind it was brilliant, but probably too forced to be accepted as part of a zombie apocalypse world that we wanna survive in.

No doubt the artist made more than great job and I bet gave a great effort to be in, for me, Plague Spitter should be kept, in a way that it is placed in its proper role in our survival worlds, just not forced and spawned every 30 yards in the desert.

If we talk about fantasy, we just can`t argue that zombies as sort of enemy for humans are also a one, but evolved in their own way, because of (<put any reason>). Why not have a one like the spitter ? Who knows ? Time will tell :)

Doesn't your web browser have "Translate to English" on the right-click menu? In Edge I can translate the whole page in one click. The days of copy and paste into Google Translate are long gone. Maybe you are reading on your phone?
I use Firefox. I did just find it under the 3_ button. Have never looked for it or used it. I have limited time to read these forums, so only look at a limited selection, which is mostly the current dev diary and am not wanting to jump through more hoops.

The yeti is fantasy. The plague spitter is a dried out human corpse.
I don't even call the yeti fantasy. To me, it's just an experiment with testosterone that made a strong, hairy guy. But people are calling them a yeti and a mummy and so they consider them fantasy. I didn't mind them at all, but replacing them was the choice that was made.

Yeah, I thought they were good. At least they might find their way into another of TFP's games, so they aren't lost. And, yeah... I always laugh a bit when people talk about those being fantasy when we're playing a game about zombies.

I know. It looked to be mostly finished. Maybe faatal was meaning animation work.
Half way done was being generous. The mesh sculpting has to be finished, then you have to texture it with Albedo, Normal, Roughness and Occlusion and in the case of the plague spitter, clothes and skin were separate sets of textures, then you have to add all the bones and weight the skin to them, then setup the prefab in unity with all the rigidbodies/colliders and any jiggle bones. Not trivial.

Thats what I said..if anything it's inclusive because realisticly how many repetition of native Americas do you see in video games/media?

I can only think of a few
Red dead redemption 1/2
Ark (barely aside from the with TV show)

But what game is has a setting on native lands

■■■■ed if you do or you don't
Prey, back in 2006, had a Native American as the player character (not real current, I know).

How exactly are they moving away from plague spitter and frost claw? Those are NOT being removed (unless I clearly miss that part of the stream).
The native American design they showed is a bandit from the Duke's clan and doesn't necessarily mean he's bad.
It won't be like Noah's good and the Duke's bad. 2 different clans with some good and not so good things about each one.
The Native American model shown is the new plague spitter, not a bandit and the new frost claw will look nothing like the old one. Two new models.
