PC V2.0 Storms Brewing Dev Diary

I started to fill out a bug report but it wouldn't me skip the post script or data file or something, but this is pretty self explanatory. Don't harp on me about posting in the bug section.
Game Support - HOW TO REPORT AN ISSUE.
There's a section on how get and post a log file.

It's all good if you don't want to make a proper bug report, but don't expect TFP to fix your issue. You report your Bug, they make a ticket for it to be fixed; that's how it works.
Believe me, it's easy to attach a log file to your report as I've done it a few days ago. I had not reported a bug in ages and couldn't remember the process, but the HOW TO was very helpful.

We have a recent ticket open for improving the SMG sights. I just added my research to it. Basically bigger hole nearer to top, tilt drum down more and move gun farther from camera as I hate the in your face sights on any of our guns.

That's good to hear. The "lazy" remark was only meant as a bit of friendly snark, btw. So tell your 3D artist to stop crying and get back to work! 😁

Is there any way to fix the issue with the hip armor on the Marauder armor? Half the time on my character sheet it looks like this, or will look normal, but my character model that other players see always has the armor flapped up like this.

I'd put in a bug report, but it won't let me submit without logs or video links - logs and video links I don't have.
Just use any link... like Google.com
But yeah, having those 2 as hard requirements es not very smort

Well, it is a way to try and get people to actually provide a log. The screenshot/video is kind of pointless as you often aren't going to have that. But the log is always available, at least on PC. But it is a problem for console users unless it's not required when they choose console... not sure if it is or not. Still, I think the requirement prevents a lot of people from posting bug reports. Logs are very important in bug reports and getting people to include that is very helpful, but making it so fewer people are willing to post a bug report leads to bugs that aren't reported, so either option has negatives and positives.

It is worth noting that the instructions for pasting a log don't actually work. Logs are too big for pastebin. There is a note on the report form saying 'if this happens use justpaste.it' but that site just freezes/hangs, at least when I try and access it. Could be it doesn't play nice with a VPN or something.

As you rightly say, logs are an essential part of a proper bug report, so having an easy process to provide them seems like a good idea.

I note that you can provide attachments with a bug report. Is it not possible to just have submitters attach the log, and screenshots/video if necessary, directly to the bug report, rather than mucking around with external hosting utilities? Or is there an overly restrictive file size limit on the forum software?

There are different ways to deal with that, and perhaps they should mention them.

  • Break up the log into multiple parts on pastebin.com.
  • Cut out the middle of the log, leaving everything that is at the beginning while loading the game/save and then the last 10 minutes or so before the problem occurred. I normally would putt something like ============= CUT ============== where I cut out the middle.
Also, depending on the issue, if the issue can be reproduced right away when starting a game, just start a game and reproduce the error and then exit the game and your log will be small. And if it's some kind of error that repeats over and over and over, make sure you exit the game before it repeats too much... that, or delete most of what repeats.

If I look in my logs folder, only one log is large, at 1.5MB. The rest are under 600k, which would fit on pastebin.com. That 1.5MB might fit... I forget the limit. And those are from usually a few hours of gameplay. That 1.5MB one is probably the game with horde night. I think most large logs are because people have a repeating error that they let repeat for a few minutes, making the log very large.

I've been told consoles have a direct report bug button from in game, not sure how it is handled after the click it tho.
Also, I got scolded for suggesting to circumvent the logs link... so always post your logs regardless of what you're reporting 😄
I guess quality of report > quantity of them. who would've thought.

All of the drawbacks of a scope with none of the advantages? Why would you possibly hate it...

It would annoy me a lot more except for the fact that agility builds can now have pinpoint hipfire accuracy with an SMG, so you never actually need to aim down the sights.

As a random aside, I always took 'ghost sight' to mean a peep sight with a ring so thin it becomes almost translucent, and you can see the target both inside and outside the ring. The SMG sight's apeture is so thick I end up accidentally trying to use it in construction thinking it's a 1m pillar block. So maybe 'hulking abomination sight' or 'lumbering werebeast sight' rather than 'ghost sight' might be the right flavour of 'firearm sights named after mythological entities' to describe the horror that is the SMG rear sight.

A real ghost sight, as I understand the term, would be superb on the SMG!
Good point, ghost sights are typically up towards the front of the gun. I guess I couldn't think of what other type of sight this would be considered. I guess it's just more like a non magnified scope.

It's a diopter drum sight. Pretty much the classic rear sight for HKs. The only problem I see with it is the top of the drum is WAY too high; the hole should be positioned just under the rim, not halfway down the drum.

Oh, boy. I just realized what TFP did. Looking at the ingame model (not the photo posted above), the devs basically took the elevation and windage turrets off of a scope... and kitbashed them into a really cheesy drum sight.

TFP, I love you guys, but holy hell that is so lazy.
Ah ok, a diopter drum sight. Yes the in game model is pretty bad and completely blocks your field of view.

I really gotta ask. For those getting beaten with the ugly stick, are you on stable, how many minutes is your game day,
are you set higher than nomad, how many zombies do you have set for your horde-is it above 30?
Legit question, point of reference, I'm on 294, day 24 2hour days, nomad, 24 horde. I have not seen one screamer horde
yet, I thought they had been turned off. Have done all but the last quests for the wasteland, I have the burnt badge, and just
need to request desert and snow from the traders. But I have left those timers active for now, taking notes for an idea.

Storms, day 2 died 4 times, day 13 stayed in a t3 poi I had cleared, day 17 noticed raindrops, on way to Jen and it started
when I was inside. No more since then, been stealth clearing the hospital at night in segments, then traveling to all biomes
during the day. Have 2 dew 1 local the other across the creek; forge and work station across the creek in another poi.

I guess it paid to not be the first to jump into the potentially infested waters this time. So I will start a new playthrough, on
Stable soon but for now.......Nope. Still taking notes.
I play pretty much everything on default except for 18 hours of daylight, 90 minute days, and drop only backpack on death.

I've never had issues with screamers before, hell it's not an issue now, just something I've noticed.

I have gotten my 🤬🤬🤬 handed to me trying to do tier 4 quests in the snow biome....holy hell!! I died twice in a row, the second time right after retrieving my backpack from the 1st death!

Those quest were flooded with the orange, blue, and green zombs! Not sure what my gamestage was but it surely tanked after that 🤣

I think I was on day 18 or 19. Needless to say the day 21 horde was no issue!

Thanks for that, Those are what I am waiting to see. I have unlocked
all but the last quests of the wasteland. I can ask for the badges, but
am waiting, I like having limited time in the biomes, it makes them
feel more dangerous and off limits. Will probably mod to keep an
extended time in the zone before damage if outdoors.
