PC V2.0 Storms Brewing Dev Diary

Something to perk you up, unless there is a sudden major drop in assets, your maple trees will still be available

for the forest. Faatal said he's working on trees for performance, Adam start there and add them to the biome.

Later adjust one of the other biomes and bring back the golden fields of the plains. It can be done. Then we can

redo the waste.
I mean alot of stuff wasn't forever

Like the quality of food in I think alpha 18 or 19.

Removing the burnt forest

That's all I can think off. Lol

But I think more biomes would be cool for progression cuz

A: makes things longer

B: gives a sense of adventure

C;  gives the world more diversity

MY ranking of biomes would go

Plains < 0 skulls

maple forest < half skull

pine forest < 1 skull

brunt forest < 1/ skull

desert < 2

Mesa/aka even hotter desert with red rocks:  2/ skulls

tagia (aka spruce forest aka light snowy forest)  3 skulls

Snow: 4 skulls

Wasteland: 5 skulls

You don't need water filters. Boil a bunch of murky waters in a campfire while you go on a quest or something. Add just enough fuel so it will stop when done.

I only buy the 2 cheaper mods for the dew collectors and always have so much murky water, ready to be boiled.
i agree , you dont need it. thats why it shouldnt cost 6000$ maybe 3000$ i end up day 90 with 0 of them

I was thinking that too but Arizona doesn't have many swamps. Now sense it's a fictional county/ national park. You could say there is some marsh lands.

Imagine like mud zombies crawling in the water or leaping at you.

The game's setting is apparently being changed to Texas, from what I've read. Texas has plenty swampland in the eastern half of the state.

I mostly have one or two. With the filter but man I hate having like 6 dew collectors lmao

waterpump baby!!!
I recently did a playthrough 50% loot, no trader and no dew collector (similar to that of A21) and in the beginning water was an issue, but once I unlocked smoothies water became a non-issue and could dedicate them to glue/duct tape when needed

The price of the filter is an absolute joke. In A21 is was required to make a dew collector and it cost 2250 base price, which was fine.
Now, the filter is BY FAR the weakest of the 3 tools for the dew collect and yet also BY FAR the most expensive, costing a whopping 7500 base price.
By that logic, a cooking pot should cost around 12000 due it the cooking pot being a lot more important and useful for surviving.

Actually... now that I think about it, it's not such a bad idea, hmm.  :heh:

Players will just stop buying them. You can make a cooking pot when you have a forge, which most get in a few days.

Filters cannot be made at all.

Most of time I had made mine before I ever found one or bou;ght one at trader. Same with grill.

Yes I saw the :heh: lol, Was just mentioning the reality of it.

I'll play devil's advocate: Water filters are totally optional. What we call in reality luxury or convenience items in contrast to items of everyday use (you might call them a little different in english, not my native language). The later in the game you are the more dukes collect in your purse. Eventually you might buy them because they are just convenient, a quality of life upgrade.

A game needs money sinks. This is one. One of my co-op players was just sitting beside me now and when I said 6000 dukes he started laughing, because with an int player you will have 10 times of that sitting useless in a chest somewhere in mid game. I know, unpopular opinion, but for us veterans the trader is still too cheap.

Would love to see the source on where you read that. I've been following TFP pretty closely for over a decade and the only relation to Texas is the location of the main office.

Absolutely. I almost never find water filters. It is definitely a luxury items, but also comes at a cost.

For me, I just get enough into cooking to make goldenrod tea. Then I can drink wherever I want, and just pop a tea after I'm done.

As for dukes, we're usually throwing them into a forge for brass. We only use traders for converting useless gear we loot into dukes.

In between initial spawn location, and reaching the first trader, which for some is an inconvenient distance away 1.4 to

2.4 kilometers, I collect enough for the pot and grill simultaneously. Usually have at least 1 honey, and enough plastic

and iron pipe to think about a dew collector if I want. People pass money makers constantly, each grove or red white

and yellow, is 100 plus, a lot of outskirt loot gives plastic, and two poi kitchen start you on the way to metal pipes.

Even with stumps being rare, and the honey drop rarer still. That is my actual first quest, accomplished. Just playing

Walking Dead Nomad rules. Hunting as I go to I have meat kitchens and toilets provide water, by 9 pm day 1, I always have

enough survival resources, and a cleared poi to cook my food in.  You wanna mine just break up the floor and Dig Diggy hole.

Yes its true a player can easily get along looting murky water.  However, at some point a player is well past looting for murky water, and would rather do other things...

Having said that, dukes are easy to farm and a 6000 duke filter should not stop a player for long.

Recognizable. In most games I tend to sit on my money early game, saving up for those top tear gamechanging items that then suddenly become craftable or in loot. Ending up spending nothing.

The cost for the filter isn't really a big deal.  It just depends what you're spending money on and whether or not you do quests or scavenging early in the game.  I don't buy much of anything from traders - the dew collector mods and solar mostly - so I have little use for money for anything else.  It always piles up.  And since I'll spend the first few days questing or scavenging, I have plenty of money for the mods.  I'll have 2 fully modded dew collectors within a few days (2 hour days) without even trying.  For two players, that's enough.  So the cost doesn't matter and it's a good money sink.

As mentioned, the filter is for convenience.  It isn't required, so if the cost is higher, so what?  Boil your water instead if it's too expensive for you.

Still, I really don't care what they cost is as long as it's under 10k.  If they want to make it cheaper, it wouldn't matter to me.  I just don't see any reason it needs to be cheaper.
