PC V2.0 Storms Brewing Dev Diary

I think most players would not like having to swap armor for each biome they enter.  If you only ever play in one biome, or rarely change biomes, then it isn't a big deal, but if you regularly travel around different biomes, it would be a hassle without any real positive to offset that.
thats a great point, alot of players do trader runs flying from one trader to another....

have they said anything about being able to switch armor sets on the go?

But it's also not my main issue with the forest. I'm fine with it kinda Being the easy zone. But lack of real dangers lurking is kinda sad.

I'm not saying be the wasteland or snow but add coyotes, the rare wolf or even bear like back then. Only at night.

The lack of wildlife is also silly. Like it's like the old desert during the day. Hell the desert.and burnt forest has more life.

I understand deer not being out during the day but spawn something. Anything lmao 🤣
I agree that more wildlife in the forest, including wolves or bears like before would be better.  As far as deer during the day, that is when they are most active in real life.  They usually sleep at night.

I fundamentally disagree that the forest should be safe. Add there the same bears that are smaller, wolves, boars (make a chance that the boar can attack us) I want them all to spawn at any time. I would like the feral zombies not to die at the beginning of the morning. The weather should not be super mild in the forest, let it also test the player (not like in other biomes)

Please leave the guts of the old system in place so that modders can do something with it. I'm begging you. Many of us actually prefer to have detailed survival gameplay in our survival games, rather than have things simplified or streamlined. That's not to bash the direction TFP is going in, it's just that a lot of players were hoping for MORE complexity and simulation, not less.

Temperature, wetness, and all the associated stuff (warming from campfires, etc) is already there under the hood. Even though TFP is deprecating that stuff in favor of kits/biome progression, please leave all that stuff intact for modders' use.
I support this. The global system is good, it would be a good addition

I just see alot in my area at night lol so maybe my deer are weird

Deer are active during the twilight hours (dawn and dusk), not so much during the rest of the day or night. (The technical term is "crepuscular.")

I think that would actually be a pretty cool thing to have in-game, but 7D2D has a pretty rigid distinction between day and night, so I doubt it will happen.

Yes, I kind of liked the temp, wetness, etc. system and was thinking of looking for a modlet that added it back.

Along these lines, at first I was thinking of maybe a modlet would remove the immunity gear and only leave the crafted temporary protection items/consumables.

But then I was thinking maybe, if possible, a modlet might remove the immunity and then somehow extend the duration of the temporary protection items/consumables. Like maybe the duration was 2, 5, or 10 times longer with the permanent kit/gear.

Deer are most active (i.e. visible to humans) at dawn and dusk.  I get them around my house a lot during those times, not so much during night time or daylight.  But I occasionally see them while mowing grass.

That's been my observation. There's a small herd that lives in town and on campus, especially during deer season. I sometimes find them bedded down in my backyard for the night and in the morning they're grazing on the large lawn across the street.

It may depend where you live.  Yes, they are definitely more active at dawn and dusk, but i saw them regularly anytime during the day where I grew up (whitetail deer).  You could see 10-20 at a time in a field during the day throughout the summer.

So in the pine forest getting rained on will have no ill effect I presume?

How about a very very small chance that a player can get struck by lightning during a thunderstorm? Like a 0.01% probability. Imagine the FEAR players would have about being out during a storm, and how cool it would be once it happens. People would be posting it all over the 7 Days Reddit!

I got the math from ChatGPT. She said with that probability it would still be extremely rare to get struck. About 1 in 500 players would get struck within a 200 day playthrough.
ugh…that means we’d have 40 people here complaining about lightning forcing players to abandon their preferred playstyle of running around in the rain and claiming the majority of the community hates it…

Yeah, random death from lightning would be annoying.  If it was just a low chance to get injured, I wouldn't care, though I also wouldn't see any point to it.  There is a lot of rain, so everyone is going to be out in it.  No reason to make it annoying.

Not sure why they cant see how boring this gets when u just crank out quest after quest.  Exploring on your own is so much more fun, and now its a necessity to use the trader.  Im having way more fun with “no trader”play thrus.

ah well, gg.

edit.  Just read some more.  If the requirements are challenges and i just go to the trader to pick it up without doing trader quests id be happy.   Which is it?
if the trader is required then i'll just spawn in the kit when i get done with the challenges. The better solution would be to get given a fetch quest that is (located in the biome you're going for protection) for the kit instead after doing all the challenges

40 people will be here complaining no matter what gets added. You can get struck by lightning in RDR2 online. I don't see the big deal. What happened to fun?

It doesn't matter anyway. They'd never add it.

I hope the Perk Magazines are removed from random loot drops and get reworked into a separate challenge page allowing you to earn the books by specific challenges directed at the playstyle. Am i wrong for this?

I also hope that there will be a way to unlock the protection gear without using a trader. I’ve been playing without traders for over 6 years now because they make the game/survival far too easy.

As the survival kits are through challenges, you only need to visit the trader to receive the challenge reward.

From what it sounds like, all the trader is required for is receiving the challenge rewards, in this case the kit. You won't have to do any questing for the traders.

While I do agree somewhat. I just hope the way too get it is at least somewhat difficult.  Not like..kill 4 radioactive zombies..

What we can assume is that there would be 6 or 7(?) different tasks to do to get a kit since Fataal said you get the kit for completing a row of challenges. Those could be trivial but lets hope there is more to it.

My guess is though: Some of the challenges are probably to craft the drugs or items that give you temporary protection
