PC V2.0 Storms Brewing Dev Diary

I'm still kinda sad the forest has no weather danger cuz most people will probably just live in the forest
Forests already doesn't have any towns / cities, so I think there is plenty of incentive to already venture out of the biome. In my current play through, my main base is still in the forest biome and I have a small shelter / outpost in the burnt biome for my adventuring there.

Instead of building from scratch, I found a small graveyard with a small mausoleum near trader Jen that I retrofitted. I wasn't sure if it would be enough to protect me from a storm, but thankfully it was. The mausoleum is probably only 5 x 6 in foot print and I built a small coverted patio attached to the front so I had more space to live in.

When the storm came, standing too close to the edge of my covered patio would give me the storm debuff, but otherwise was safe. Faatal has done alot of work to improve sheltered / not sheltered functionality and so far it feels good to me.

So rain will finally stop going through fully covered ceilings? XD

I was thinking it would be great if storms would also affect non-biome-specific zombies... :sneaky:

That would open up new gameplay possibilities, like defending inside a small ragtag shelter while the storm rages.
Would the zombies create a hole and let the storm in, or would they also die under the extreme weather?

aye, pretty sure zomboids won't be taking damage from the elements, that would add another thing that the game would have to track, knocking performance downward. Meanwhile, zombies wrecking your stuff is highly likely, just guessing.

That is true but still as I've said many times. The forest holds your hand too much. Some danger is needed cuz for people who build based on biome looks, people won't suffer.

I'm all about suffering in survival games. I'm currently moving to the burnt forest in my play through cuz I've out grown it.

However sometimes I've noticed it seems like a big jump in difficulty at least for new players In the burnt forest. You got feral screamers, rads on horde night on day 28. Etc

The only danger the pine forest has is on horde night with direwolves. That's it and danger noodles. Aka snakes

But I'll save my judgemental for the 30th or gameplay I see
