PC V2.0 Storms Brewing Dev Diary

Man I love this game, but it seriously has to have one of the worst, most whiny fanbases I've ever encountered. How can someone, with a straight face use this as a complaint lol

What does everyone have there storm frequently on mine is set to 100% and what is is everyone else’s

Also left my zombies on every 7 days and my game is on normal difficulty too and 120 mins of 24 hour cycle and 18 hours of sun too

Is this okay thanks 🙏

Or should I change my mins of 24 hours to 60 mins

Please help 🙏🙏

I have storms on normal 100%. I was going to turn them up, but tbh they are kind of annoying sadly. I love the way they look, but they don't really do much besides make me stand AFK in my base until I can go do what I was planning to do. I've had one hit when I was driving to a t5 Poi so that was neat, clearing it as the storm raged outside and running between buildings as the storm timer threatened me. But I don't think I'd enjoy having them turned up beyond default atm

I leave horde on 7 days because I'd forget other wise lol. I put difficulty to second hardest, and don't touch the day / night length

I love feral senses at night, 64 zombies on blood moon, nightmare speed on bloodmoon, and the injury system where respawning doesn't heal your injuries. Makes blood moons really scary

Feral senses at night is fantastic and I highly recommend

I'm not using it ATM, but there's a mod to increase the amount of roaming hordes which is also really cool. It has huge hordes wander around more often, so you might be clearing a POI and shoot a gun, and then suddenly have 50 zombies trying to tear their way into the building you are looting. That's kinda what I'm hoping they end up going with for storms, so if you are hanging out and hear a storm, you suddenly get swarmed by zeds

Yeah, feral sense is a fun mechanic. I need to play around with it again. I think the last time I did, I liked feral sense day only. Having it on at night was too much for my personal taste. It felt like a good balance because having more light gave me more time to be able to react and deal with the added zombie aggro, where at night it felt like sneak play was just too hard. Also, night time is my normal "down time" period where I am doing base activities like building, consumable prep., perk review, etc.

The nice thing about using it this way, is you get a nice incentive for going out at night. Also, felt more believable to me, during the day they are able to see / sense you further away versus at night when its darker / lower visibility.

Agreed on the storm vibe during POIs, it makes you play the POI differently, especially when parts of the POI is outside.

It would be nice if it would increase in prob % along with the player.
The better you get, the more the entity group has feral sense, or it
could just increase feral sense distance as you get better.

So... cosmetic DLC, uh?
No new content, just beautiful handcrafted cosmetics.

Let me be clear here: Doesn't matter if you put it at 30 bucks or 900, I'll still buy them all to support you guys. Right now they might be cosmetic, in the future we could see new awesome things, though that could result in different multiplayer instances that separate between those with the content and those without.

I just love that you finally get some rewards from all the hard work and passion that you guys put into this product over the years.

I'm still in debt with you for all the hours you gave me with my friends and loved ones.

Now, don't go imagining the speech above in Rekt's voice.
I noticed that some people are apparently buying cosmetics just to leave a negative review, because the complaint is about price or the simple fact we dared to sell them, which make me laugh to think we could sell them for like $1000 and some dude would buy it just to complain.

Narcissistic personality disorder is estimated to be around 1 to 6 percent of the population. If 1 million people buy a game, that means the devs potentially have to deal with 10000 to 60000 of them. How about many millions of copies? Imagine if .1% of them try to contact you.

We can do that all day long. Here is a picture of my dog for $9999 and please give me 1000 bad reviews!
Are these only ever gonna be a cosmetic, or could they be fleshed out into actual armor items the same as normal ones? If they have similar stats/bonuses to vanilla armors I wouldn't consider it P2W. Would just be nice to have to work for them in game rather than click a button.

I don't think stats would make sense as there are many armor sets that you may rather have the stats from than what is on the DLC.

Very well said. NPD is indeed something that people should know about and learn how to react.

There are millions that appreciate every second of your time spend on 7 days to die.

Smile, thanks guys 🤘

Actually, I would consider that a valid complaint with any game. You play a game long enough, and it will not be fun anymore because you burn out on it. That doesn't mean the game is bad.

Now, I do think they meant it to mean the game isn't made the way they want rather than that they got burned out by it, so the meaning behind that changes things.

Even so, I think that the game going in a direction you don't enjoy is still a valid complaint. It is certainly better than many complaints I see.

Please work on the storms, they so basically naff right now its not fun.
May as well have the screen go black and the player can not do anything outside until the screen comes back on.

Can anything like whirl winds and typhoons be done with this engine ? - what about threatening lightning strikes and heavy rain that makes water bodies increase and flood local areas randomly ? so much more could have been done with weather effects I feel so much potential just shuffled on by...

I'm pretty sure Guild Wars made bank with pure cosmetics. Given my $10 over 2k+ hours (think 1k movies at $10, $10000), I have my value in, so pitching in a few bucks is not going to break me.

@faatal can you please pass along: *chef's kiss* to whomever worked on the Hoarder Set as the detail in that one is just superb! They're all great, but that one just pops for me. It's "walking game lore" that outfit!!!
That said, it would be nice to re-add ink coloring so that everyone is not beige. To many times when an ally comes through a door behind me and I need new underwear because the image at the aside of the screen looks too much like a Zed. Plus, if multiple people like a certain look, being able to color tint was nice.

In my private game with my brother we have yet to reside outside the green (close to that, perhaps a game or two away). Being forced to twiddle thumbs does not sound fun, though having to face zombies acting like blood-moon-mode and suffering annoyance effects (need extra water in desert, need extra food in cold, uptick infection/radiation in wasteland (not sure about burnt, perhaps half-level water increase and reduced stamina regen due to "coughing") if you are not under cover would be good. You can shelter for no effects, or push it and take the hit.
