Work in progress of the experimental version of the boating modlet now at Version 8 for V1.0 , Download links at bottom of page.

Launch
Place the boat on/in water in a 'shallow water' area, if you have no shallow water in your map then build a small launch dock, then add fuel to boat.

Launching.png

Controls

Steering is A and D as per vanilla settings ....the mouse is for looking around only and has no affect at all on steering of a boat.

W is forwards and S is slow down/reverse and speed is hard set in xml for physics reasons.

If you let go of W then the boat slowly comes to a stop, pressing S will slow the boat down more quickly and acts as the brake key.

Note: Turbo has no effect on boat speed but if pressed will silence the engine noises if you like peace and quiet.

**** IMPORTANT INFO for this Version ****

Space bar and C no longer control the tilt angle ...pressing them will make boat bob up and down a little in this version,  XML has changed to self levelling method.

If you hit a water bank or object in the water the boat will tilt but can now be corrected by simply turning left or right and circle round a bit to level.

To anchor boat and stop it drifting away just slow down come to a halt and the self levelling xml should bring you to a fixed position,  useful if you have a fishing mod installed .

The older style of using the spacebar and C to control tilt angles is in the xml and commented out and can be used if you prefer that method.

Other Info
Boats can be picked up into inventory,  if you sink it at any point be careful as it couldld be a long swim back to shore if you cant find it .

Crafting
The Boats are craftable in a standard workbench with no extra progression needed.

The boats are intended as an early game version at the cost of resources and actually

making a workbench early in the game.  The recipes are simple and use in game resources.

** If anyone wants to change the recipes and build methods then please do and if you want to share it with the community here feel free to do so. **

Boating Modlet Download links :

Installing the Boat Modlet

Note: Nexus manual downloads and Gitlab 'zip' downloads will double nest the folders so you will have to go down a folder level to find the actual modlet folder.

Example of what happens on Gitlab Downloads

When you have unzipped the downloaded file you would see this :

Download1.png

Double click and you will then see this :

Download2.png

Above is the actual name of the Boating Modlet folder ( Boating_Modlet_For_V1.0)  you can then drag this folder into your Mods folder.

If you are using the old Mods location it is located here:  YourDrive :\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\7 Days To Die\Mods

If using the new Mods folder (recommended) it is located here:  YourDrive :\Users\YOUR USER NAME\AppData\Roaming\7DaysToDie\Mods

You can type   %AppData%\7DaysToDie\Mods  in the address bar in Windows Explorer or in the Search Box on your desktop and it will take you to the correct location.

Happy Boating in V1.xx

I extract the file using 7 zip, I place it into the mod folder and nothing pops up in game, even in creative mod, none of the two boats are in the game

They were both accessible when I tested. I took the boat from the Navegane open lake along to the snow biome under a few tunnels. It was a pleasant journey.

Share your log as it'll show what's happening when attempting to load the mods. Rename 'mods' folder to 'Mods' as some mods will be looking for specific naming as that is default. It won't be a problem with this mod though, but something is not working out for you.

Did you check there wasn't a boating folder inside that boating folder? Have seen tons of times where a file has been unzipped and for some reason it puts a folder in a folder.

Yes there were two folders so i took the one within the second folder and placed it into the mods folder and nothing and i've been installing mods in games like this for a few years now, from fallout new vegas to fallout 4, and skyrim to name a few

So it could be a matter of not having the m capitalized?? Also I'm not getting any errors pop up, it just simply doesn't load when my world loads in. I have the boat_modlet_for1.0 inside the mod folder

This mod is awesome! I just happen to have a base by the water on Pandas Skyrim map. No more swimming or building long bridges anymore, thank you. Will you be releasing your hang glider mod?

Arramus says the mods folder doesn't have to be capatalized and they should know. I have seen it mentioned online before that it needs to be so just for curiosity could you try that first...if doesn't do anything then no harm no foul.

When in game can you open the console with F1 and type      version     then hit enter and see if it shows the mod running like in my pic below.

image.png

I just added it to my game and I have 53 mods in mine and it seems to be working....at least in creative.

The user is up and running (floating) now thank you both for the assists .... Gamida and arramus.

I doubt I had much to do with it but you are welcome for thinking that lol

Is it possible to get a mention of what the solution was in case anyone else has the same problem in future.

It definitely shouldn't be anything but all-lowercase, I've it all-lowercase on both the Linux Server & the Window$ Clients and all the other mods work perfectly fine with it, so it's totally wrong if some other mod expects something else.

Hello,

I've installed the mod on the server and on my pc in the mods folder (steam).

I can craft a boat but there is no image for it.
Can you place it and use it? Sounds like it isn't installed correctly on the client. Try loading into a SP game and see if it works there.

That's the weird thing. Even though there isn't an image I can still move it in my inventory etc like it takes up space and everything there's just no image either icon or ingame once placed.

Sounds like it isn't installed correctly on your end then. The server will push the xmls, so that part will exist but you won't see icons and stuff.

Ok so it installs 2 folders into Mods.

You have to cut/paste the second folder into the mods and delete the first one it puts there.

Might have been nice to know lol

Its a common thing with downloads of modlets in general from Nexus manual and Gitlab  'zip' downloads but I have now added instructions to the OP as with all the new users arriving in V1.0 there is bound to be others that do not know this .
