Someone said 3.0 bandits was the target so what i would suggest stop hounding them about bandits and let them focus on important things that need fixed first.

Maybe I'm not the one that sentence was intended for, but I can't tell. I'm not hounding anyone for bandits. I have no cares related to the release schedule. I'll take them whenever they come.

My post was suggesting that when playtesters report having played with them in the past that it doesn't necessarily mean they were playing a feature complete version with all of the assets.

The thing i do not understand is why pve players think getting pvp bugs fixed doesn't effect them. You guys seem to forget real quick early 1.0 it was the pvp community that reported linear and velocity errors of vehicles... Faatal didnt waste no time at all in getting that fixed,  everyone appreciated that for sure....

That is just one example but for realz... i much rather see him working on major bugs than bandits.... thats all im saying is there are other major bugs that need fixed before bandits.

Personally, I'm all for bug fixing.

But I'll leave it to the devs to decide priorities.

Maybe they add new stuff first so that they can solve all issues in one fell sweep later?  :noidea:

There's many things that you do not understand. 😁

But seriously, why fix bugs, then add bandits, which might create bugs that were fixed. They might want to do it once, not twice.

To give an example, assume there is a bug in a section of code that has to be changed for the bandits feature. There is a not so small chance that working on that section will remove the bug just by rewriting it, or the bug is found when rewriting that section. In both cases fixing the bug would have been wasted effort.

This is why adding features before bug fixing is the prefered way. But when the game is already released to customers, serious bugs need to be fixed first regardless. This is why TFP has been doing lots of bug fixing alongside implementation, and before and after release of an experimental switched to weeks of just bug fixing.

But seriously, why fix bugs, then add bandits
My concern is real.. over the last two years their team has lost 2 major coders A) one who worked on rwg and other things  B) one who was an original founding coder with the brothers from the beginning over an internal dispute...

my concern is faatal has had to pick up the slack and this game would be better served for him focusing on bugs instead of creating bandits and such, alot of the bugs that need fixed has been years waiting on,, so yeah having him work on bandits or any new stuff takes a way from the fixs due to the loss of the coders from their team.

Your concern is baseless. Kinyajuu passed away last year but the other person was let go about 3 years ago. They have in the same period hired many more programmers than two and tasked them to priority areas. The reason the bugs important to you have not been fixed is not due to lack of manpower. It is 100% due to prioritization. You keep getting told that but keep choosing to ignore it and keep coming up with speculative reasons why it might be anything other than the truth.

faatal has been almost exclusively working on optimizations and bug fixes. He didn't pick up the slack for some other programmer by spending time on bandits. He was always the lead programmer for AI and pathing. There is some new content coming for the next update that would be in the category of " ...and much more planned additions" listed on the roadmap. He occasionally works on those things in addition to optimizing and bug fixing but nothing is taken away because there is no lack of coders from the team.

As I said, there's a lot of things Grandpa doesn't know.

I will add that @faatal is obviously extremely busy since we rarely see him here on the forums anymore, which makes me sad, but in some ways, happy to know he's doing a lot of good for "our" favorite game.

so whats the issue for me to prefer faatal to work on bugs since he was around before than? let the new coders work on the new stuff...

7d2d code is a mess and having faatal focus on bugs is best thats just not my opinion thats a fact
Another made up "fact". Is it a medical condition you have?

yeah, if you pve players would stop driving him to produce bandits more important things like linear and velocity errors of vehicles he fixed earlier would get done sooner...

could only imagine what else would have been fixed by now if he wasnt kept being pushed to produce bandits.

Not guilty re bandits, I'm on my way to a heavy metal gig (well power metal actually). But most of the time I'm not headbanging I'm playing 7 days. I am still crying inside re the screamer's new sounds but I've posted about that a couple of times, I drown out her Feeble sounds with... Metal.

I should start a petition (or hunger strike) until her screams are put back to how incredibly good they were before..

That's not completely accurate. The secondary camera removal, for first person view, only recently happened. It had nothing
to do with Pvp/Pve or excessive requests for bandits. Also was the spawning or lack of. These were two changes that it took
time to figure out. Both of these preexisted the Storm's Brewing map and any focus on Bandits.               Dev Prioritization

In regard to the "linear and velocity post". It isn't or wasn't a PVP concern, that when worked on or acknowledged also benefited
PVE players. It is/was game play concern, it too preexisted Storm's Brewing and bandits. All of the mod cars in the modding section were
made by PVE players to add to the game, and PVP also benefits from them, and the huge array of guns. Yes or No.    Dev Prioritization

If a game admittedly by an owner, is based on a PVE genre, and models are added to the game by modders, a game, that has a dominant genre focus.
Then are the models and mechanics and animations, part or the dominant genre, or solely PVP.    Personal View

You realy need to connect the PvE vs PvP war to anything, not? Is it your PvP brain that only functions when having a conflict?

This has nothing to do with a war...

just like roland playd pvp 4 years before moving to pve | i playd pve for 2 years before moving to pvp...

What the whole conversation was about is i personally feel it would be better to let faatal concentrate on the bugs of the game instead of worrying about un needed bandits... since he seems to be the most capable of fixn bugs that have been around for 5+ years.

and yeah ive been around alot of years and hours in this game and was just giving my recommendation is all...

The amount of hours played doesn't prioritize your needs above others, ignoring every word explaining that this game is a process with priorities that takes time won't make your bugs fixed faster.
