If Fun Pimps could fix what they have now, such as exploits, duping, aimbot, etc etc etc, then this argument about PVP and PVE would not be happening. Right now, the game is geared towards PVE and is alienating a niche but still important part of the community. Once you have figured out how to beat the computer, the challenge is over for most of the players, and the pop dies off. Pop dies, the game dies. Simple as that.

According to whom? Who determines what they are supposed to do? I can understand the confusion when they called their first unified version across all platforms "1.0" but now that we know the next major update is labeled as version "2.0" are you still going to claim that TFP is using these versioning numbers in the traditional sense? What? Are you going to be outraged when 2.0 is released and claim that the game is supposed to be in it's sequel phase since 2.0 has traditionally meant the full sequel release of an existing first game?

It is plainly obvious that TFP is bucking tradition and doing their own thing when it comes to version numbering. Such a move definitely created some confusion around the launch as people thought TFP was claiming the game was done even though they emphatically stressed that the game was not yet finished. With version 2.0 just around the corner and then 3.0 coming later this year and 4.0 coming later or probably next year it's time to finally clue in that traditional ways of looking at these labels need to be let go.

TFP can attempt to change the all of that numbering to their hearts content. No one else is going to adopt it. The industry in general is getting a lot of push back for broken releases and taking years to "fix" a game. So what's TFP's answer? make a new numbering system to distract from their lumbering progress?

I won't be the first or last to point out TFP have taken well over a decade to still be...3 years out from being done? 4 or more? who knows or cares right? it will be done when it's done.

Was it Stressed that the game is not finished OR was it stressed that the game needs to be optimized and balanced?

TFP is not simply fine-tuning their game. They are still adding major features which will also need to be fine-tuned. You can ignore reality and cling completely to your preconceived notions of what "1.0" and "2.0" should mean and then try to argue what TPF should and should not be doing but it is just going to keep you frustrated and apparently perpetually outraged that TFP isn't doing what they're supposed to be doing. If you accept that the game is still fully in development and they are using their own custom non-traditional number system for the unified versions across platforms then hopefully you will find some peace.

yes...you are right. TFP are not simply fine tuning what they already have. They are still coding in new things. Which means that you have to add on even more time to balance and fine tune...ffs...at some point "you" have to finish a project. Some ideas don't get done, some things get saved for future titles. That mindset has been an on going problem. Sorry, but, them "giving" us new features we were not expecting IS NOT a substitute, that I accept, for TFP NOT being able to meet their stated goals. ie Bandits, working weather w/ biome penalties and a story mode.

They aren't attempting to change the numbering system. They did it.

They aren't trying to change the industry. They just aren't following traditional conventions. Why would they care if other studios number their versions the same way?

The industry in general is getting a lot of push back for broken releases and taking years to "fix" a game. So what's TFP's answer? make a new numbering system to distract from their lumbering progress?

Push back in the form of angry posts on forums from gamers experiencing edge case bugs who think they represent the whole player base but the actual majority of people still buy and enjoy the games and support the industry and don't experience those bugs? Ouch.

TFP isn't in the activism game. They aren't answering anything. They're developing their game and releasing updates when they deem them good enough to release.

I won't be the first or last to point out TFP have taken well over a decade to still be...3 years out from being done? 4 or more? who knows or cares right? it will be done when it's done.

Exactly. Everyone knows that this is the way of things for this studio. Accept it and move forward. This is the history and reality of the state of this studio's development process.

Was it Stressed that the game is not finished OR was it stressed that the game needs to be optimized and balanced?

Yes. both.

But you have to live with it because it is the reality. They chose to up their standards for art and graphics and multi platforms. They also have done a lot of experimentation with different features. All of this has added time onto the development progress. But none of these things are substitutes for bandits, weather, and story. Never once has TFP stated that they decided to overhaul the art and experiment with the RPG elements instead of bringing us these other features. Those features are still on the map. "Substitute" is definitely a disingenuous word for how this is playing out.

All the "less-then-positive" posts in this thread lately prompted me (just due to my awful memory) to look up how much monies i paid for this game, and when. In November 2022 i paid a gigantic (/sarcasm) £18.99 for A21 something-or-other-revision (can't remember exactly which one), and something like 2500+ hours in the game later (across many versions and silly amounts of mods in most of those, plus the server game myself and a friend play regularly) i have zero (zero!) complaints. plus i'm almost 60yrs old and extremely well-adjusted so i feel no need to post negatively here or anywhere else, plus i (for no good reason) add that i am not a hardcore gamer - my point with the hardcore gamer comment is that anyone else can of course play 65 million other games/free or otherwise; ...short version is that i don't understand why this thread is so full of such misery lately. The game is awesome, has endless re-playability, has countless mods, and extremely well-thought out overhaul mods, so i just don't get all the negativity. And even if i had paid triple-A prices for the game, i still don't get all the negativity and whining. /just saying

TFP are not going to change their release methodology. Angry gamers are not going to change their opinions.

It might be best to discontinue responding to angry gamers whose opinions can not be changed. It seems that arguments as such eventually become arguments for the sake of argument.

I do think it would be nice if they still could include a Horde Mode in the base game. It wouldn't have to be on par with the new 4v1 Bloodmoons game but the original simple Horde Mode was fun and having it in the base game might work to bring a lot of people over to the spinoff game once they play it and want something even more filled out.
This could be why TFP decided not to put Horde Mode back in the game. Creating a new game that uses a similar feature means more money and exposure for TFP (even if Blood Moons is mainly from another studio).

I agree. I've been on the 7 days to Die forums for about 10 years now and I can say that there's always someone coming here with complaints, and that everyone they know feels the same way and so on.

How many millions of copies sold again? And how many actually complains? Possibly 0.00025% (plus their 2-3 friends, the ones they call "everyone"). 😁

would that happen to coincide with the timing of the re-release to console?

i haven't played any console games in a couple years, and certainly haven't played 7 Days on console, so no idea

well, I am certainly glad you never had to actually touch that filth.

What I was implying was that the number of complaints and the timing of those complaints might have something to do with this re-release to console.

I am glad you got a lot of value out of this title. I sure didn't. I agree, you guys have a lot of great modded content...and while the moderators on this site are FANTASTIC at game mod support...it's really not TFP's problem to support game modders, but, they do.

So it might be that the change in atmosphere around here is because people, who have not had your experience with TFP, and this game, are now here...and they don't seem to share the attitude that the game will take as long as it takes, nothing is TFP's fault or has ever been. they are angry that they are being told it could be 3-4 more years before this game gets finalized and polished, by the people who inhabit this site, and think that is just business as usual.

Don't feel tooo bad. Some people think that the lack of console complaints on here is due to the problems being rare or small and NOT that there are hardly any console gamers who come on here.

So it might be that the change in atmosphere around here

Not really a change for any longtime follower of the forums. There have been people unhappy with the direction of development and slowness of development and the delays of updates for the past ten years. There will always be people who are having fun and enjoying the game and happy with where the game is at and excited about the next update and they don't care about the pacing. There will always be people who are not having fun and feel they can only be happy once they have the final version and they complain. Your complaints are nothing new and it isn't a change other than the normal cyclical change that always happens during the final weeks and months before the next big update. It has nothing to do with console or PC. It's different people and their expectations and beliefs about the way things should be in their mind and how the actual development progress measures up.

TFP are not going to change their release methodology. Angry gamers are not going to change their opinions.

noted.  :)

Is there a way to disable 'Spawn near Bag' I have zero reasons for leaving a bedroll, and it makes travelling far distances no more of a challenge where in previous alphas you had to make sure you put bedrolls down or it was a challenge to get back.

I wasn't strictly fibbing when i said zero complaints in my previous reply, there are some things i frown upon (quite strongly);  the new screamer sounds are dreadful (really, really shockingly bad), the new rabbit model is no longer cute and has really buggy movement; the new chicken is also no longer cute ; i suspect the cuteness won't come back as i guess in a zombie apocalypse the animals would be somewhat haggard from zombies dancing and wiggling about everywhere; but i assume the buggy movements will be fixed at some point;         the new screamer sounds i suspect will stay and that makes me cry inside (or should i say scream inside) but i would hope that whoever changed the sounds does some self reflection and finds some guilt and reverts the sounds, as i've said in a few posts previously, the old screamer sounds were incredible and the screamer mechanic is a fantastic part of this game and as such she should not (in a million years) have had her sounds wrecked and diluted into what sounds now like a drunk, very quiet and un-scary dribbling noise. In real life i'm a metalhead (my favourites being Death & Black Metal) and my point is that it's like an analogy to me, that the screamer is like a metalhead, or she was until someone turned her sounds from Metal into weak pop music, just as when i'm out with fellow musically minded friends, playing our songs and another friend who's not a metalhead breaks the flow and puts on pop songs.       Anyways my point is that i hope that her screams are restored to full power at some point

Doesn't the AP Auto Turrent ammo supposed to go into that manual drop turrent that doesn't need any power?  Glitch?
It accepts the normal Auto Turrent Ammo, but doesn't let me put in the AP Turrent Ammo.  it's the 2 different grey boxes - 1 is just light grey and the 2nd is light grey with darker lining around it... both square and both are in alphabetical in line with eachother in the build / craft list

Unless something changed since the last time I used AP ammo in the junk turret, it should work fine.  Hold the turret in your hands, hold R (if you haven't changed the button for it) to get the radial menu, select the AP ammo, then reload.

that's the thing, i did..  perhaps the recent patch messed something up between both their interaction. I even loaded regular ammo to confirm to myself that i wasn't smokin something...lol
the Turrent was on the ground and aimed down, which told me when i first picked it up, that it was out of ammo.
I play on the XBox Series X, not on PC.... There's no "R"

Nice find.

Oh! And it's turret by the way, not turrent.
