@faatal, please, confirm this:

1. Update 2.0 is Storm's Brewing, 3.0 is A New Threat, and 4.0 is The Road Ahead.
2. Update 2.0 Storm's Brewing will be released in 2025.

Some people don't believe/don't understand this, so please clarify this so there is no more misunderstanding or confusion.

I would also like to ask this:

1. Update 2.0 is scheduled for Jan/Feb, right? TFP's Twitter says the update will be this winter. It's obviously not going to happen in December. Now you're saying next year should be 1.3. That's obviously most likely January. So the planned release date for 2.0 is February? Or at least obviously not before February.
2. Will we get a new roadmap for 2025-2026 (or at least an updated one for 2025) this winter or after 2.0 is released? The current roadmap is already at least partially out of date.
3. Since the 2.0 update will be out next year, does it make sense to move 3.0 and 4.0 one quarter to the right? Will you be able to give us 3 major updates at once in one year?

Without changes to weather (though he said that could happen), it sounds like it's just back to temperature (and the radiation they mentioned for wasteland).  Not horrible, but not great.  Would be nice to hear more details, though.  I can't imagine it's just a rehash of what was already there.  Otherwise, why change it?

I was really hoping for something other than radiation. Most of the overhaul mods really lean into wasteland radiation and it's just kind of... boring. Step into this zone without a radiation suit and you die in ten seconds!😐

That said, there has to be some sort of environmental deterrent for the wasteland, and I can't suggest anything better myself. Though the constant stream of zombies was always pretty challenging.

[Edit]Now that I think about it, sound management is really the important aspect of surviving the wasteland hordes. Sure, you can just start blasting, but then all of the local zombies rush you. It's better to sneak, use a bow, maybe get a silencer and the military stealth boots, hopefully also the Urban Combat books that reduce trash noise. Though that would be more of a stealth game and maybe people wouldn't be into that.

faatal did say that 2.0 (Storm's Brewing) would be next year.  He also said that 1.3 is planned.  That being said, I personally expect 1.3 to be a short experimental as it is likely a variety of minor things they want to get in place before 2.0, so won't need much testing (I could be wrong).  So there is still a good chance of 2.0 experimental in mid or late January.  Expect stable about a month later.

I agree that an updated roadmap would be nice.

It looks like all these questions were answered by our post here:
https://7daystodie.com/winter-patch/

Keep in mind that every date we give about pretty much anything is subject to change. Unlike many game companies we do not throw releases out the door just to hit dates, nor do we death march employees to hit dates, although many employees put in a lot of overtime out of duty to the company and/or our customers. It is done when we feel it is done.

Weather itself has not changed, but it could.

So there isn't going to be a new weather system like the roadmap said? Is this a miscommunication between the dev team and whomever made the roadmap? Or a "left hand not knowing what the right hand is doing" situation?

One possible change/addition is to increase the feral sense range more in the wasteland.  Changes like that would bring more of a challenge to the wasteland.

I already get lots of vulture attacks in the wasteland, even when at full health which allegedly is not supposed to happen.  Changes to more than just the strength of the zombies would be good for the wasteland.  Especially if they became more intelligent.

I would say that the roadmap is a more simplistic statement of the reality of the new biome survival system. We are definitely getting more than just simply a weather survival  reinstatement. Weather itself is the same visually but it does play a part of the biome survival. In my opinion, the actual update exceeds the wording of the roadmap.

There’s no cop-out here. As Faatal mentioned, it is definitely more complex and involved than any weather survival function we had in the past.

See, this is all we needed. A better explanation and some better communication. I know I don't often have nice things to say to you Roland, but thank you. I appreciate this explanation. I know communication isn't a very strong skill for the Fun Pimps, but it would be nice if they could work on that -  it really shouldn't have taken 6-7 months to explain what the "weather system" is.

Thank you!

and

Ouch!

It says "weather system and biome progression overhaul".

The people doing the work are overhauling it. Now what you guess that to mean and what we are actually doing could be completely different. I would describe it more as progression, but sure it is weather in the sense that you get hot in the desert and freeze in the snow, both causing you to start dying. You cough from smoke in the burnt forest and soak up radiation in the wasteland also leading to death. That is cosmetics to me, because overcoming those problems is the challenge and is progression.

Remember we are a team of dozens of people, with lots of opinions, so ideas often get shot down or changed as we go. Bandits are a good example, as I have a well formed idea in my head of how they will be, but once the teams starts play testing them, that will change and my opinions will change. I may not even like some of those changes, but it is a team effort and I do my job.

I'm reading the winter patch page posted by Faatal.

My question is; Does 7DTD now have to Pass PEGI in
North America, ESRB in Europe, and CERO in Japan for
each update?

Likely nothing, Joel just doesn't seem to come into the forums very often. It's like the sighting of a rare white elk.
I see.

Wait, I think I see him now.😁

Well it's like day 43 and the supply's got dropped in the Wasteland.

The Wasteland is the most dangerous biome in the game.

So naturally, I come in charging in on foot. Bashing every single piece of metal with a pickax. 😁

Even so, it took awhile for the zombies to figure it out.

Guess they thought that no one would be crazy enough to try that.

Yes he is crazy enough to do that thank you very much! 😆
