PC v1.x Developer Diary

Wait, has it always looked like that? I thought what I had watched before looked similar to 7 Days. That looks more like Borderlands or something. Can't say I'm a fan.

Also, about the lighting and whatnot, is there any plans to fix player hands not respecting local lighting? This looks very out of place:image.png

Have we heard anything about a "Storm's brewing" update dev diary yet? Guessing that will be 1.2? Are they still doing dev diaries?
We're 1/3 of the way into Q4 2024 now which is when the roadmap suggests the update will release. Before Christmas maybe?

Can you provide the links for these came from?
The first three pics are on Steam and have been there for over a month; 3 more pics on Steam also, and the "movietype" trailer. The last pic was posted this week on X.

New bloodmoons stuff. I like that they are going for cell shaded but still would rather have some of this being added in the base 7dtd..like the scrap weapons and grandma zombie
Those were posted on Steam on September 26, same day that the New Blood Moons trailer was released. Only the last picture you posted is new, posted this week on X. There's a few more pictures on Steam also.

This will be fixed in one of the next updates, most likely in 1.2. It will also lead to an average performance improvement of 15-20%, and sometimes more. Faatal recently talked about this.

"Storm's Brewing" is 2.0. The update will be released this winter. I think it will be in December, then 1.2 should be in November. But maybe they will release 2.0, for example, in January, if the update is not ready in December.

You're optimistic.  I don't expect Storm's Brewing to be out before March.  😀
Optimistic? Yes. But you are very pessimistic) 2.0 is definitely coming this winter, and probably sooner rather than later. TFP has already clearly planned everything, and this plan cannot be violated, otherwise it will collapse. I don't think the plan will be very different from reality. Yes, updates may come out later, but obviously not that much.

I'm waiting for 2.0 either in December or January. I doubt it can happen later.

I'm not sure TFP has ever made a deadline, expect the console release.  I think they are also aware that rushing something unfinished out wouldn't be good, so I doubt it will happen by the end of the year.  I think they would have learned the lesson from the rushed console release that has so many problems.  March is probably pushing it, and I used that as a clear exaggeration.  However, I would be very surprised to see it before late January or into February.  But I would be happy to be wrong.

TFP obviously releases things when they are ready. But it is also obvious that now they have clear plans, not "it will be done someday", and they will stick to these plans. Yes, the timing may shift to the right, but not that much. Otherwise, we would not have seen such a roadmap.

I fully admit that 2.0 may be postponed to January, and I would not be surprised by this. But the further 2.0 moves, the more the rest of the plan will collapse, up to complete destruction. So it seems to me that there will no longer be a strong shift in deadlines. Moreover, there is already a clear vision of what will happen in the new updates, and work will be done on specific things. Previously, updates seemed to focus on everything. The developers did everything and redid everything. Now, development is shifting towards adding new things and implementing specific plans, rather than just "redoing and improving everything."

I still remember how they planned the release, bandits and the rest for 2021) But I think they have learned from this and are now planning their work better. At least I hope so) In addition, I no longer heard such nonsense from them, so it seems that they have become much more sensible in their approach to planning.

TFP have provided other such roadmap timings and none of them were on time.  😊  They have already stated at least one more update before Storm's Brewing and we are already in November.  And frankly, no need to rush it before the holiday buying season.

1.0 didn't really "make time", they just released what they had so that console could be released.  It had a lot of what they wanted but not everything.  A roadmap is just that, a map, not a promise.

I hope for 1.2 by the end of the year and Storm's Brewing in Q1 2025.  Just look at the timing for 1.x:

June 24 - PC release of 1.0 experimental

July 25 - 1.0 stable released

Aug 7 - 1.1 b4 experimental

Sep 24 - 1.1 b14 experimental

Oct 1 - 1.1 b14 stable

Update 2.0 won't be as big as 1.0. Its development obviously didn't start yesterday. In addition, all the main forces of developers will be directed to 2.0. There were probably fewer people working on 1.1, and they had less time for 1.1.

So I still think 2.0 will be released either in December or January, if more time is needed😃 After all, they called it a "holiday patch".

Postponement to February and especially March seems unlikely to me. In addition, then all other updates will move forward by 1-2 quarters if 2.0 is very delayed. I don't think that in such a case TFP would be so optimistic about the roadmap.
