In that GNS interview with Joel and Rick (the one that lit up Reddit last month) it was said that things they change can be changed back to a way the player desires. This should be one of those changes.
Which interview are you referring to? The GNS interview is from a year ago. I know there was also one from NeebsGaming about 5 months ago.

Do you mean some recent Reddit comments from that GNS interview from last year?

Same it's way too bright. While nice at times it's still way to bright.  Game imo needs to go back to like Alpha 15 levels of darkness
Yes, the game has become very bright in 1.0. Some objects literally glow in the sun. I really hope that this will be fixed in the future. The game is too bright. Night is not much different from day. And even the mod and lowering the brightness level do not help. Sometimes it looks bad.

Yeah i've posted about this before, (it's somewhere in my post history), i've been a running a "realistic lighting" mod for 1.0 and 1.1, (still works & look great) ; hopefully the Pimps will fix this soon, but i suspect it's like the now-missing hot & cold effects (on the player i mean), i guess they've made lighting "real easy" for new players, just like the hot & cold, and will probably fix it in another patch or release;           until then, i'm more than happy with the realistic lighting mod, it's really nice & (even atmospheric, if that's the right word ;)  - i probably just mean realistic)

Temperature effects are just temporarily "removed" (they are there, but if you're wearing full armor, you have full protection) until the weather update because of changes being made.  It's nothing to do with making things easier for new players.  After all, temperature before 1.0 had no significant impact on gameplay.

Bad wording (re temperature) from me as i'm working, but yeah, you're quite right, it's only temporarily removed; i was just generalising re the "new players" comment, my point is purely that those 2 things worked real nice in A20 & A21, then became "tame" ie not very good in v1.x      ; but anyways, hopefully both will indeed be fixed along the way.

p.s. for me personally (pre 1.x) i always ignored the icons for hot & cold, i always had too much to think about in desert and the snow biomes (angry animals) to worry about temperature ; and indeed, once the angry animals were either dealt with or run away from, i soon realised the temperature effects had no massive bearing on things

I tried the Afterlife mod. While I wasn't wild about the mod, the atmosphere at night definitely felt a lot more intense. It was darker and creepier. Perfect for a zombie game.

I hope the ui change will kinda look like that. Styled rather then looking general but I wouldn't want my name or level on it. Everything else is good
The problem with styled UI is that people have a very different opinion on what style looks good.  If you stick to a more general UI, most people will at least consider it acceptable, as long as it works.  Those who want more style just use UI mods.  I have exited games shortly after starting them because the UI was a style that I thought looked really bad.  You don't want to lose players just because your UI looks bad to them.  And, yes, those players could use a UI mod themselves, but you are more likely to lose them than that they do that.

The UI in 3.0 is more similar to the Steel UI. It's obviously not as stylized as SMX. But I like SMX. And for those who prefer a less pretentious interface, the developers will make it in a more "neutral" style. Besides, the mods aren't going anywhere. And this is good, since the current interface of the game looks outdated, I really don't like its style. Moreover, there are no mods on the same consoles, so it's very good that the developers will finally update the UI. It should have been done a long time ago.

There haven't been any patches for a long time, will there be any soon? Will the next patch be the last one before the big Storm's Brewing update? I and many people think that the game is too bright, will there be a fix?

Just like to say i played ever version from PC and XBox. I made some of the earliest Youtube videos for console 10 years now i think. The has changed so so much over the years. I love the direction the game is going and  I personally like the day time full sun. As bright as it is it reminds me how a summer day is. Why wouldn't the game have a bright summers day.  Especially if your outside mid afternoon. Have you been it a basement with mid day with small windows at head level. You can still  see with out having lights on. Same with most floors with windows. I would say some floors above ground are not bright enough. Especially mid day. Plus its not like theirs a dust cloud clovering the earth and blocking out the sun. A meteor didn't strike the planet. During the day its bright yes , have you been outside lately. Sure looks the same to me. Lol wear some sun glasses. I just think the lighting for the most part is fine how it is. But its all just different peoples opinions isn't it.

People aren't complaining about the daytime brightness.  They are complaining about the nights being bright enough that there's no reason to use a light on your helmet or weapon to see anymore.

It's just a bit too bright to me during the day, but meh, whatever. The issue is nighttime. That basement you're talking about, should you be able to make everything out that's in it at midnight, when it has no working lights? No, you shouldn't. Even with a full moon it isn't gonna illuminate the whole room like the sun can. It's too bright.

I don't mind a summer day. But, first of all, some objects are overexposed. For example, the mattress that I posted above — it literally glows and dazzles like snow on a sunny winter day. This definitely shouldn't happen. But the main complaint is the night. It's incredibly bright, and you almost don't need a flashlight. It's VERY bright at night.
