(V1 Series) Vehicle Madness (Updated November 24th 2024)

I have seen some restored original vehicles in Vehicle Madness such as school bus, but I would like to know if you can add similar models of Pick Ups, Sedans and Trucks?

I want to know if it is possible to ask for such mod as a standalone addon rather than extension of Vehicle Madness?

Love the mod. Definitely the best variety I've ever seen, the lights and sirens on emergency cars are very cool.

However the one issue I'm having at the moment is that it feels impossible to harvest car chassis, I went around a city harvesting all the VM vehicles I could with an impact driver and found that I didn't get any, so I ended up spawning a load of the damaged BMWs and got every single item except the chassis. I checked the blocks xml and noticed it said destroy for the damagedcarchassis and not harvest unlike every other possible harvestable item alongside it. I'm no coder at all but am I stupid or is this a genuine issue?

Sorry for late reply .

Glad you are enjoying the mod ..

<drop event="Destroy" name="damagedcarChassis" count="1" prob=".017" tag="allHarvest"/>

The code is correct and gives a chance that a damage chassis 'may' be harvested at the destroy point of the vehicle wreck.  If it was a normal harvest you would recieve a chassis and the physical wreck would still be there .    Is it possible you have another 'mod' installed that affects this such as a vehicle respawner mod as that would change this line in Vehicle Madness.   The Vehicle Madness Mod has been out for 5 months now and have had no reports of issues with getting hold of a damaged chassis.

Last time I loaded into my saved game, the console popped up with some rando error and I closed it but I then noticed that I had vehicles in really strange places, for example right on Rekt's counter. I couldn't interact with him or wrench down the vehicle. Does there happen to be a way to run a command in game that will clean that up or reset something without me losing the vehicles that I have?

Thanks.

Updating the mod in a current save or adding it to a save that didn't have it installed can sometimes cause that.  I think the only way you could fix it would be to run the region reset command or chunk reset command in the game.  Region reset (rr) can be run on all regions, which probably will fix everything.  Chunk reset (cr) will only affect chunks near you as far as I know.  However, be aware the following: 1) These will remove all changes to the map (mines, holes, buildings, crates, etc.) in the area being reset unless you have a land claim or bedroll in that area, so be very careful not to erase your base or anything else important.  2) Chunk reset has been known to cause problems in games, though I have used it many times without ever having problems.  It might have been fixed so it doesn't cause problems now, or it might still have the chance to cause problems.  3) It is a good idea to have a full backup of your save game and map before doing these things just to be safe.

Trying this out on a brand new game... cleaned everything out and started a fresh.

I am finding now for the first time I can not always destroy tree's to zero..

I was cutting up a vulture got to 1 and wouldn't go further unless I right clicked and did a strong attack.

If you include a log, it may help.  I've been using this since 1.1 and never had that problem.  You said you started fresh, but that doesn't necessarily mean you aren't using other mods.  Maybe one conflicts with this one.

Wondering what Mod was affecting Vehicle Madness in case anyone else gets this issue ?   I so far have seen no issues in the latest update 1.3 stable in VM .

I had this issue too once but i believe it was tied to playing in a vanilla server (multiplayer) whilst having mods loaded.

If you play vanilla multiplayer make sure to just put your mods folder somewhere else. That or you're using an outdated .dll mod that changes something else (like ocb mods). Also you said you cleaned everything, does that mean you also removed the TFP Harmony folder? I wouldn't do that as many mods depend from it. Check file integrity on steam to restore it.

Vehicle madness has never caused any issue to me.

Yo all,

Okay .. I restarted with the mod TARKOV and have this mod in and been playing a good 4hrs + with this setup and all is good.

So no idea TBH why what happened, mod conflict or game error maybe.

I'm using the Urban Decay mod and one of the things it does is makes the roads cluttered with debris making the world look way more realistic. Its seems whatever Vehicle Madness does makes the roads all clean looking again. Is there a way to make these more compatible?

Apologies for the late reply ,

a simple fix would be to rename the Urban Decay Mod folder by prefixing it with ZZ as in my screenshot  below , this then loads Urban Decay after VM.   I will in the next update of Vehicle Madness address a permanent fix to avoid any future compatability issues as I also like the emersion that this and the better biomes mods bring to the game on my personal playthrough.

Ran this up with Vehicle Madness as appears to work as expected..

Any idea why the vehicles say repairable, but I can only search them? I am using quite a few QOL mods, including bdubs vehicles

Yes you can search them for loot ......also you can make a restoration tool if you want to repair it to working condition.    Alternatively you can salvage them for parts if desired.

Yeah, you need a specific restoration tool for each vehicle.  After crafting one, go to the repairable vehicle that matches it, then equip the restoration tool and use it on the vehicle.

 Thank You!

Speaking of the restoration tool, Ragsy have you ever considered just harmonizing the restoration tools down to four (no tool, wrench, ratchet, and impact driver)?

It's a very minor thing, but having a specific restoration tool for every last vehicle always felt awfully redundant.

I have but the way this XML version for Vehicle Madness works is on a focused block as the Repairables  you find are vehicle blocks.   Point tool and exchange for the vehicle which is the placeable item which is the thinking behind this method geared up for obtaining a vehicle that was not full of fuel and this was only way in XML that it could be done at the time.

Not sure on what to do moving forward with the XML version for making the restoration tool /kit  ,  might move to find the manual/schematic for the vehicle you want to use the tool/kit on .
