PC V1.4 Stable

as its now taken 2 weeks for a lowly minor update from 1.3>1.4 (the second time in as many months) to be pushed out to Xbox PC version and preventing multiplayer cross platform play with other family members . We have all switched to playing State of Decay to smash Zombies.

I might check back in a month or two to see if anyone has attempted to get the delay resolved by which time another update will probably be round the corner and the game will "break" again
I don't know what the deal is with Microsoft.  Playing this game through the Microsoft XBox store when you're on PC is probably a bad idea from what I've seen over time.  But since you already bought it there, you obviously aren't going to want to buy it from Steam even if it's a much better experience.  So you're unfortunately stuck waiting.  Microsoft has delayed releases in the past, though not normally for this long.  Normally someone from TFP at least comments on these things to state that they are trying to push Microsoft to hurry up, but they haven't done that this time, so I don't know what is going on.

All that aside, 1.4 really isn't a significant update, so there's no reason you can't just get your friends to go back to 1.3 and play on that version with you until Microsoft gets their act together.  The only thing that could be a problem for you is if you want to play with people on Playstation since they can't go back to 1.3 once they update.  Unless the actual XBox version has been updated to 1.4 and only the PC version from the XBox store isn't updated?

The Xbox console is already updated just not the pc xbox app, which is why it's odd this has taken so long. I don't believe you can roll back on Xbox, if so can someone share how? The world I'm playing on is dead in the water as half of the people were playing on Xbox but the host was xbox app on pc and we can't match versions now.

Interesting.  I didn't know the console updated.  Unfortunately, you can't roll back on console, so you're stuck.  It's is definitely strange that they approved the console and haven't released the PC version yet.  As far as I know, they are much more strict about things for the console, so it doesn't make sense that the PC version is delayed after the console version got updated.  I'd like to have some advice to offer, but other than contacting Microsoft to try and get some answers -- and knowing them, I wouldn't expect them to give you any -- there just isn't anything to do except wait.

If you know anyone with the Steam version of the game, I the save *might* work if you transferred it and the world to that person's game.  The world should definitely work, but I'm just not positive about the save.  And although I don't like recommending a second purchase of a game, if you see the game on sale at some point, it might be worth replacing the XBox PC version with the Steam version just to avoid this stuff in the future.  But that might not be something you or someone else in your group will want to do, and that's understandable.  Hopefully they will have dedicated server support for console crossplay within the next couple of months so you can get updates running more quickly after that if you want to use a dedicated server.

Complaints/Suggestions to Micro$oft and $ony.
I don't think Sony has any influence on Xbox or Microsoft's Gamepass on PC.

Is there any particulair reason for getting the Xbox version and not the Steam version?

Yeh, I'm curious about this too. When I get a new PC I delete the XBox app thinking "I don't have an XBox, why would I want the XBox app?" But I have to admit, I've never looked at what the XBox app does. Is it intended to be a Microsoft version of Steam?

Yeah, I've never had any reason to use it.  Maybe it offers some easier option for communication between the PC and XBox players?

With some games, MS allows a single purchase to be used across both systems.  So you could potentially buy the game on Xbox, but also have access to play it on PC. And vice versa. Which is what I used to do often with games like Forza, because I figured if I ever got an Xbox, I would want to play them there. And in the case of a lot of MS games like those, they don't release on Steam for a while.

I'm having the same issue not sure what the issue is with it but as far as ive been told microsoft is at fault for xbox pc version not updating

Damn almost 3 weeks and they STILL haven't dropped the update in???

I'm really glad I killed my GamePass sub a couple years ago. That is insane.

Yeah its a damn shame idk whats going on me and my buddy are @%$#ed cause hes on console and im on pc xbox and i can no longer play with him and 7 days is just about the only game we play the most. Not sure if theres any updated info about this issue and not sure if The Fun Pimps are able to get microsoft to give some answers on why its taking so long. Ive been trying to contact microsoft but they keep sending me back to either the game devs or to another gamer which make no sense to me if microsoft are the ones in control of the updates, But for us gamers on xbox pc i think we need answers!!

It usually takes a bit before Microsoft finally makes it available for that.  Steam's always fastest and even though they release to everyone at the same time, Microsoft (both console and PC) and Sony aren't very quick to update it for players.  You should see it in a day or so.
Its been 3 weeks so far so havent seen anything for 1.4 for xbox pc

By using the XBOX app combined with my Gamepass subscription, I can play purchased or subscribed games on virtually any device where you can install the app, including PC, Mobile, Oculus & LG TV  without the need to use or have an actual xbox console or even while other family members are playing their own games on the console.

In essence, xbox allows 3 modes of play via the app.

1- the app connects to your console over local or internet and runs the game virtually - this only works if no-one else is using the console

2 - download the PC version of the game and run it locally with option to join others in a party etc - just like any other PC based game

3 - cloud gaming, similar to mode 1 but you are using Microsoft servers to run a virtual game - limited number of games support this

I have a question about two of the media you posted.

Can 7dtd stream to mobile phone? And have you ever tested it on the oculus

I've had one for years and never connected it then I stored it and fogot that I had it

until I just read your post, because I had a slower pc then.

I'd like to know what this game is like in VR. I guess its time to dust it off and

try it.

yes - it will plays in oculus via the xbox app download from the meta store - setup connect to your xbox console, then choose to launch game on console.

pair your controller to the oculus and enjoy games on a 100 inch HD display in stereo.

also works just as well using xbox cloud gaming if you dont have a console - 7dtd is not supported for this method though

@al.dawson Thank you

Cool, So you remote control the console and since it is simply streaming,

Its the same as watching tv. But controlling the characters. It reminds me of game

flix.   Gamefly i mean

yep, but xbox app wins for me due to the amount of devices it supports - and now its available for newer smart tv's - Xbox on TVs | Stream Xbox games on TVs | Xbox

unfortunately - our party host game was created by the wife on the family XB console and as 7DTD is also not supported as a cloud gaming option in the app, I have to rely on using the purchased XB PC version. So now I cannot join in due to the version mismatch

it was only about 7 days (coincidence) for the V1.3 PC update to catch up in February. V1.4 is taking much much longer for some reason

Thank you, Now I have a better understanding.

Like I posted; time to re-read my Oculus manual and old

but new tracker and put them in sight or i'll forget again.

After thought kinda wished I had gotten the MS hololense

the one time I could have afforded them just as a splurge.

It hasn't been released on the Xbox app on pc. So obviously not all. A tad ridiculous that it's been a month and they get this fixed. I don't believe it's on Microsoft as I've never seen this happen before with any game

Three weeks isn't a month.  It is pretty silly though.

I've seen it happen with plenty of games. Anything not created or promoted by Microsoft is at risk. Especially games still being developed.
