Trader Progression

Traders are no longer locked to specific biomes, but the "Opening Trade Routes" quests still progress through different biomes.

Features

Multiple trader types per biome

Traders are no longer locked to one specific biome. However, there are still some biome limitations - not every trader will spawn in every biome.

Here are the biomes that each trader can spawn into:
  • Trader Rekt: pine forest...

Yes, and in fact I already updated it. I don't want to release it "publicly" just yet, because 2.0 is still in experimental, and things may change which could break it.

If you want a copy to test it out yourself, here's a link to download it:
https://gitlab.com/karlgiesing/7d2d-2.0-mods/-/archive/main/7d2d-2.0-mods-main.zip

If 2.0 stable is released and this still works, this will be the "official" 2.0 version. I'll update the link in the resource page at that point.

EDIT: There are some changes, and one change is pretty big. I now have it so each trader only spawns into two biomes. I was testing, and I found that if I allowed traders to spawn into more than two biomes, there was a good chance that some biomes wouldn't have any traders in it.

That's game-breaking, so I limited the biomes per trader to 2, and I also doubled the maximum amount of traders that can spawn on a map. With those changes I always got at least one trader in each biome, on all map sizes I tested.

There are instructions in the XML and README if you want to change that.

Totally understand about waiting for Stable to come out and I'm also waiting for Stable ... Thank You for the reply, The OldGamer

PS: As long as I have Jen in the forest ... I'll be happy ... Lol

khzmusik updated Trader Progression with a new update entry:

Update for 2.0 Stable

There is now an update for 2.0 Stable.

In version 2.0, I limited each trader to a total of two biomes. I found that if a trader can spawn into more than two, it increases the likelihood that a biome might not spawn with any traders in it.

Here are the biomes that each trader can spawn into:
  • Trader Rekt: pine forest, desert
  • Trader Jen: pine forest, burnt forest
  • Trader Bob: burnt forest, desert
  • Trader Hugh: snow, wasteland
  • Trader Joel: snow, wasteland...
