Suggestion: Retain Faint Biome Visual Effects After Earning Badges

Curious to hear your thoughts on this—am I the only one who misses this feature?

I've been thoroughly enjoying the new update, and after collecting all the badges, I found myself reflecting on something I truly miss: the unique visual effects tied to each biome before earning their respective badges.

For me, stepping into the wasteland without the badge and seeing that eerie green radiation filter at night, combined with the glow of radioactive mushrooms—it was stunning. It gave the whole experience a real sense of danger and atmosphere. I remember encountering a hazmat, a mutated creature, and a zombie bear and thinking, “This… this feels like the wasteland.” It was immersive, it was tense, and it felt like I was genuinely preparing to face the toughest challenges the game had to offer.

Now that I’ve got all the badges, I really miss those visuals. I’d love to see them return in a more subtle form—maybe a faint border or light visual cue—just enough to remind us of the biome’s inherent threat. Something that says, “You’ve earned your badge, but the danger is still out there.”

It’s not about making things harder—just keeping that feeling alive. That ambient reminder of what we’ve overcome.

Maybe I’m alone in this, but I’d love to hear if anyone else feels the same. What do you think?

🤔

This also made it feel like the others were more seperate from the pine biome kind of like how the storms did leaving pine Forrest as a visually clear and newbie feeling area making you want to progress to stay in those cool looking areas that get respectively harder as you progress

Wasteland looked so awesome at night with the screen effects in my opinion and it now feels like it looks like 1.4 kind of feeling again now I have the badge which is my single complaint if I had one with this beautiful update

I think after you get your badge you should get 20 minis out unless your in shelter then you get as much as you want
I think you meant minutes? If so, I could see this as an option.

After playing No Man's Sky recently, I kind of like how they handle dangerous biomes. You have a certain amount of protection from them that will wear down over time before taking damage. If you go into a protected space like a building or underground, the protection goes back to full (in some cases, underground will not take it back to full, but will just stop it from decreasing further) and you can also recharge it with an item. Now, considering how many POI are around, maybe it would need to be tweaked to fit this game so it's not always being recharged so easily, but the mechanic itself could be a good one even in this game.

That is correct. But it as a opinion would be nice

Honestly, if I had my druthers, those effects wouldn't exist in the first place. I hate them. I also think the bleed overlay needs to be massively toned down. I hate things that obscure my vision in games.

I think they are too much right now , I think it should be a smaller feint border and less on screen itself, I understand the vision issue, for me seeing the diversity has been a big hit as I used to dislike the other biomes aesthetically as I felt they were just a reskin of the pine, no atmosphere and were getting a bit stale, the bleed definitely is bad but we probably shouldn’t be getting hit by zombies anyway unless we want to be one 🤣

appreciate the response

I agree that biome diversity is good. I disagree that the wasteland was enjoyable to the eyes. For me it was my least played zone outside of Burnt
What do you dislike about the wasteland / burnt the most … I think the burnt needs more fires and trees on fire … wasteland the glowing mushrooms I really liked at night

Too add on to this

Once you get your badge you will be able to survive indoors/in caves

But once your outside you get a effect that counts down. 10 mins to be outside doing whatever you want before you get debuffs and effects

And your screen will overtime get the effect more and more depending on how long your out
