Windows Strange error in dedicated server

After updating today I started seeing this warning message in the console

2025-09-29T19:07:52 53.599 WRN [EOS] [LogEOSRTC - Warning] TickTracker Tick is delayed. TimePeriod=[10.039716s] TickIntervalThreshold=[0.100000s] MaxTickInterval=[0.377759s] MaxExecutionTime=[0.000170s] TicksCount=[193] ExpectedTicksCount=[1003]

Is there something I did wrong or is this something I can just ignore?

The dedicated server specs are
AMD 3900x
64GB DDR4
Western Digital Black 1TB NVME
nVidia 1080
Gigabit internet and LAN, hardwired to router

Thanks!

The tick message is just a warning, not an error, and shouldn't cause servers/worlds from working. Sounds like there might be another issue going on.
Sorry, but your are quite wrong. :rolleyes:The tick message is not just a warning. It indicates that the time required for a particular communication event took to long and must be redone, this impacts server startup time and server performance. in addition, it can stop a server from starting up by eventually timing out. For example: Prior to the 2.4 update my server took 8-10 minutes to complete startup (showed up on list). Now it takes 20-50 minutes (beyond 50 minutes the process times out and startup ends). The is an extremely serious issue and I'm puzzled as to why it is not being addressed. BTW my server is on v2.4 b6. I now start up my server a minimum of 1 hour prior to game play, which is completely ridiculous. Oh, and the only thing that has changed is the 7dtd version, nothing else has changed.

The OP was asking if they did something wrong or if the message can be ignored, which it can be. So, yes, in this instance it's just a warning message.

It might be the reason for your delayed start-up time, but then again it might not be. Pretty sure TFP are aware of it though.

It does specifically state that it's a warning in the message itself. A tick is a way to track how quickly things are happening. It is a way to see whether or not things are happening as quickly as they should or if things are taking too long. These are normally hidden and I'm sure they'll hide it again as it was likely enabled just for testing and debugging purposes. Just because you didn't see it before doesn't mean it wasn't happening before; it just means they didn't have it set to display that message. The message itself is not the cause of any problems beyond what may happen if it is spamming very quickly and therefore slowing things down. Instead, it's just an indication that something is causing things to take longer than expected.

Now, if someone is having longer startup times in 2.4, this is again not because of the warning unless it's spamming hundreds of times a second. It is likely some other change in 2.4 that is causing the longer loading times. There is a very high probability that if they had enabled that warning message in earlier versions, people would still have had that message appearing. It is only new in 2.4 because the display of it has been enabled. That doesn't mean it wasn't delayed in earlier versions as well.

How on earth does it take that long to start your server? I run one off of my own PC sometimes to test things, and also have 2 hosted dedis I use and it probably never takes longer than 2 minutes. 5 minutes would be annoying and anything past that is ridiculous. What kind of servers are you running?

The message has been being displayed for many versions. It usually comes up when Epic is having issues at their end. But, in this case it is coming up repeatedly. The message is not causing problems itself, but the communication delay absolutely is. Ignoring the message if it only appears once in a while is no big deal. However, at the the volume that myself and many others are seeing. Well, you'd have to be foolish to ignore it. You really should pay attention to the message in the OP, it clearly indicates that "TimePeriod=[10.039716s]:", so over a 10+ second interval only 193 ticks were sent, but 1003 were expected. For me the message repeats about every 10 seconds for minutes, so yeah getting a ton of the messages (as are others). This delays startup because it does not proceed until the expected ticks are received. In addition, it causes performance issues while playing because the message keeps popping up in concert with lag issues.

Hoping Fun Pimps fix the issue soon, its quite annoying. 😣

Running off my own PC, for the use of myself an a couple of friends. So, a certain amount of slowness is expected, just not the level I'm hitting with v2.4. Yeah, if your running on a high end server setup it had better be fast. :) It must be nice to have the resources.

Final bit of input:
  • Server Performance: Monitoring tick delays is crucial for maintaining smooth gameplay. High tick delays can lead to lag and affect player experience.
  • Troubleshooting: Players and server administrators can use TickTracker warnings to diagnose and address performance issues.

My 60 slot server takes 25 seconds to reboot with 2.4 b7 and tick rate warning spam. Fix your gear buddy.
