Linux Steam Deck FSR?

Ok, just to verify - I’m not crazy or have a funky install? You are aware of issues running Vulkan on Steam Deck (above error) and are investigating? Thanks for confirming, I will stop trying to figure out a solution if that is the case.

Yeah Linux has done some really weird stuff lately with kernel/driver updates that we've been looking at. Both GL core and Vulkan have their own issues with Vulkan being the better one, but this issue can happen with the steam deck. I didn't know this until now but yeah, GL core doesn't support FSR at all. At some point today I'll play around with Proton on the deck, you may want to check one of them for now until if/we can find a fix for native. Once native is good to go again, you will want to use native and not any Proton versions though.

Ok, I will play around. Just to clarify - you are saying to use Vulkan, but test with different Proton versions?

Can't hurt to try, but I think GL core may be better when using Proton. I am not sure what would be better. For reasons like this I game on Windows, unless it's with the steam deck.

Ok, I see. Right now with GLCore it is running without error, but no FSR. When I use Vulkan is when the errors occur. But, FSR makes a big difference for the FPS, can have higher settings and it looks better (but errors 🤣)

Though, it does seem to have some integrity errors related to EAC when I launch the game. Join a game is greyed out, but I can play single player

It also started me fresh, so my save game I had going was gone - fortunately not very far. Wonder if I switch back to normal version if it would come back?

That... doesn't make much sense why it would do that. I'm guessing you're not logging into steam/eos somehow? I would peep at the log

Turns out this is due to how Proton works with virtualization; you essentially get a miniature, virtualized install of Windows, for a lack of better words/putting it in Layman's terms. If you go into your file system and copy the save data from your main and find/put it into the save data slot for your Proton install, it should work fine then.

Ahh... ok, that does make sense. It was a very low play time save, so not going to bother - but good to know.

It runs so much better with this mode, FSR enabled. I even got my controller working while in docked mode (see my other support post).

Also, the Join a Game button is working, I just wasn't connected to internet when I tried it the first time. But, do get the EAC error, so I wouldn't be able to play in an EAC enabled game. That is sort of a bummer, if I want to play any with my son, who uses Xbox - I assume I'd need EAC. I guess I could switch back to non-Proton if that was the case.
