So traders gonna be pushing DLC armor? Basically in game ads.

I don´t get why people are mad about that tbh. It´s their own game they want to sell a DLC for. What´s next? People being mad that it´s listed on the steam store page of the game?

@BFT2020 But they don´t sell a stimpack DLC. A bit of a difference.

@ElCabong Probably only Joel as he is the armor trader.

You presume they're mad, i.e angry and -- honestly -- presumption and assumption rule the day.

Did you read the same post from OP as i did? Calling it scummy. Even mentioned that he will check steam rules for ads. So yeah, mad.

the steam rule for ads is only for 3rd pary ads btw @Slingblade2040 Not allowing to have ads for your own product would be wild. Imagine a supermarket can´t advertise their own products in the store.

I suppose you are right. It's always irked me how ad-free tv & radio still constantly advertise themselves, you don't need to constantly remind me who you are, if nothing else, I will remember that every month when I pay my bill.

Someone brought up Funcom, ahhhh those were the days. If you played AO you got treated to billboard full of in-game (and in context) ads, but if you played for free you were subjected to actual paid ads. It was actually brilliant.

Don't get me wrong, advertising has its place, and it used to provide us all quality entertainment for free, but those days are long gone.

Are you suggesting this game is like a supermarket? (More like: smorgasboard?) Well, I guess that can be said of most games, but I'm not sure that can be said of this one. Can you convince me otherwise?

Figured I would check for myself and went to him and sure enough he has dialog for the DLC armor and talking about it.
The voice line mentions three types of armor, only one of which is a DLC. They are the Miner, the Hoarder, and the Assassin, in that order. If this were an advertisement for the DLC, I would expect all three DLC armor pieces to be mentioned. Therefore, I assume the voiceline was recorded before the decision was made to release these as DLC.

Farming simulator has billboards in game that promote their own DLC, there is nothing wrong with that. Companies are allowed to promote their own products and having it in the background of the game is a nothing burger.

We got one voice line from one trader that mentions the cosmetic DLC armour, it is not like we are seeing billboards in 7 days of die promoting a corporate product because TFP reached a deal with another company, like Pepsi.
That's annoying AF too. Especially after the 3rd time you've heard it...by the 100th...I'm starting to prefer Rekt.

That's no different than any other voice line in the game. Eventually you just ignore them when you interact with the traders.

In your opinion?

Of course, just like you guys have your opinion

After playing this game for so long, I don't even pay attention to what the traders say anymore. TFP could change ever line from the traders and I still won't pay any attention to what they say lol

I believe in Hanlon's Razor, I would say there is a much higher probability that this is just some leftover from an armor set that was later redirected to being a cosmetic DLC set. And low chances that it is either just lazyness to mention something that is only sometimes in the game or that it is actually some sort of intended advertisement or reminder of the DLC. The latter would be indeed a scummy move. But a very minor one which really needs the "slippery slope" followup in a youtube video to drum up hype and viewer counts

Because of Hanlon's Razor I also don't think it is malice that the OP never quoted that voice line but made it look much bigger with "Joel talking up the DLC armor". So this is **talking up** the armor, by just mentioning it alongside 2 others in a **single** voice line? I actually got concerned about this until many posts later someone clarified what it really was about.

That nobody of the critical posters seemingly never even considered this could be a bug or leftover? Hanlon's razor again, it probably wasn't malice.
