PC Sleep during the night

A sleep mechanic has been suggested many many many times.

I don't see the current depth of survival mechanics in the game, to support a sleep requirement. Hence, its not pertinent or needed IMHO. Additionally, it would be difficult to manage in multiplayer and server environments.

Other than the first night or two, most players just play through the night...

Yeah, I never stop doing stuff at night. There isn't any reason to stop at night. If you don't feel comfortable being out at night, you can still craft stuff, work on your base, cook, farm, etc. And as 8_Hussars said, that isn't really a good option for multiplayer and servers and single player in this game is just multiplayer with only one person... there isn't a separate single player version. Trying to get everyone to want to sleep at the same time isn't going to be likely to happen except if you have only a couple of players or you have a very close group of players who all agree to play it that way. It just really isn't something that will work in this game.

I like the way this is often down in colony sims, and I see why it would be great for a game like 7D2D

If the nights are really annoying, just hit the console key type

"settime 2 4 00 "
settime d h m
(sets it to day 2, hour 4, minute 0

I think one reason this would be a problem is the physics/stability engine already has plenty of bugs I would guess upping the speed might cause some more issues.

1.5x wouldn't really change anything; instead of 6 minutes of lazy activity, you'll actively wait for 4. I'd say the latter is a worse experience.

As long as zombies are able to find you and wreck you while everyone sleeps, im all for.

Agree with both of you. In Fallout One they had a travel feature that allowed you to pick a destination and your character would auto trek to it...quite often you would be stopped by a chance "encounter" along the way and be forced into combat. I am thinking the same idea might "work" for a sleep cycle. I would hope at least once in a sleep cycle, you would be awakened to an encounter. with a random chance that it is anything from a deer to a wandering horde.

I agree with @Riamus on this...I use the night to get work done, so I don't know if I would be keen to use this if it was introduced. but, it wouldn't affect me negatively so i am not against it. lol
