They didn't always fail with the drivers, but they did with the 5700xt series, that's true. I'll wait for real world tests anyway, then i will see if the drivers work.Even if AMD could compete with the 3080, you'll almost guaranteed hate the drivers / software for at least a year after release, because AMD always fails in the software / drivers department. At least with Nvidia, you get what you paid for.
I want a new monitor (replacing FHD with UWQHD) and i don't want to lock in into NVidia with G-Sync, but it's horrible to find out what Adpative Sync monitors work as g-sync-comaptible. At least this problem would be solved entirely with AMD FreeSync.
Also i hope that the equivalent AMD card comes with 12-16GB VRAM. Imho the 10GB of the 3080 are not a huge problem (now), but also not really future proof.
