Thanks Jax for the game plan. I can see your point, some of us may continue playing 16.4/3.x-4.x for creative mode. I've seen all the YT videos and the automatic doors sprouted major wood. And I thought I was excited by the elevators!Id love to add more paintable stuff but right now the only way is to replace something in game already.
I agree on 4.0 This release will be a 4.0 but I decided against holding off for A17 for two reasons
1. The files and code is changing SO much that NONE of this matters. Trust me when I say you will NOT be doing things the same way in 17 as you are now so we wanted to make the most out of a lst version release on 16 and go all out.
2. I dont know about you but Im PLAYING 17...possibly for months. NO mod will be done by me until at least Release 17.4 or 5. That could be 6 months from now for all we know. Im not going to constantly update such an intricate mod. Id love to play it first for a long while, then get to know the xmls and then plan out how it all fits. If you think the update is just a few changes here and there take it from me we will ALL be relearning how to do thing sin 17 when it comes to xmls.
So some of our current ideas for 16 may not even be a thing in 17, replaced by better systems. So why not make the most out of 3.0/4.0 so it stands the test of time.
Fort Moo is actually a memoriam. How bout that "Fort Mooooo" POI. I love it. Found one directly next to a trader (my base now), and another one on the other side of town. Has anyone else found one of these?
--I noticed that the entrance to both is opposite the road so maybe it needs to be reoriented
That's a beautiful thing to do, I appreciate you sharing that with us. The player that created the fort was very talented. I am glad that it is in the mod pack.Fort Moo is actually a memoriam.
was the base of a player on Dex's server who passed away. dex packaged it up quick when we were releasing so his friend could "live on"

Wrenches are not meant to be found easily, consider yourself lucky to find one so soon.Calipers have no slot in the Advanced Forge even though their description says they are used there. Also, the Bolt Rifle description says it has a scope when it doesn't, maybe that's meant to say that a scope can be attached?
I've been to 5 traders and looted 5 cities {not completely} in 9 game days and still have not found a wrench.
Are cabinets/stoves and Working Stiffs still the best place to find a wrench?
EDIT- OK now this is getting crazy, I'm player level 12 on day 11 and scavenger level 42, and still no wrench
EDIT 2- Found 2 wrenches at Higashi pharmaceutical YAY
car engines can be harvested with wrenches, but it's at a significantly lower probability than with a crowbar.
crowbars are a loot only item. I got my first (and so far only) crowbar on day 99 from the corpse of one of the 20+ nightmare/ripper type boss monsters that assaulted my fortress on day 98 horde night. Apparently crowbar drop rates are very low.
patience grasshopper.
crowbars can harvest car parts as well as improved engines and battery types from cars. I can't say I've noticed any pattern of which car types or stage of destruction that drops these rare parts when using a crowbar. But once you have a crowbar, you'll get something rare/usefull every 10 cars or so. Using a wrench, I'd guess it's somewhere in the 100's.
I think you are going to like what we are doing for 4. I can assure you that all of the things you mentioned above are also issues WE have while playing it too. And these issues will hopefully be made more manageable in this next patch.Hi to all zombie hunters and mod developers :smile-new: i've been playing the mod for the last month and i wanted to give some feedback to jax:
First of all I believe that this is the best mod for 7dtd released up to now, no doubts, it adds a lot of chool mechanics, the slow skill progression is just what the game needed, the zombie terrors are great to fight and the new crafting which requires building stations is much better than what's in the vanilla game
I am around day 100, level 60, nomad playstyle (except for an underground base) and I'm waiting for the best building materials to build a big base with full protection, I am level 100 in scavenging and I also have quality joe perk at level 3 (maybe I need more? don't know)
I have travelled through at least 20 towns, and all of them were extremely similar to one another: rows of small housing, 2 big shops, 10 little shops and always at least one skycraper, I never found anything exciting except for an underground base (which i saw in every town so it stopped being interesting pretty quick) and a hospital (ONE in 20 towns), no exciting POis, no secrets, no strange places to visit, all very bleak and similar. You should increase spawn rates for interesting things, because at the moment my explored map is so large that it can take minutes just to understand where I am and yet I always see the same things repeating ad nauseam with no variety, and that's for the building spawn
now for the loot..
it just doesn't make sense man.. you want to create a difficult setting for players by making the chisel and the wrench unfindable.. but at the same time 1 in 5 cars you loot is a powerhouse of ammo and guns. I never found a wrench, but I found THOUSANDS of guns and ammo boxes and I had a level 600 shotgun by the 30th day! ammo will never be a problem for me because I have more than 300 ammo supply boxes and I mainly use shotgun, i have more firepower than i will ever use.. but i can't find a wrench.
just today I wanted to find some quality loot and trioxin, so I went for some higashi skyscrapers, 4 of them to be precise
in total I found 1 trioxin, and nothing else, at all. you can loot an entire skyscraper full of hitech stuff and get out with.. nothing at all, that's not challenging that's just stupid man.. by making building loot ridicolously low and leaving out things like cars and zombie loot you just make the players LESS interested in exploring, because they know that their chances of finding anything are close to zero. I've entered at least 10 big working stiff stores and countless small hardware stores, 10 skyscrapers full of construction site boxes and haven't found a wrench, or calipers, or chisel, or ANYTHING! i don't even remember how many gun safes i have destroyed.. must be in the thousands by now.. never found a suppressor, or an extention, or one of the different guns you say have been added (except for the benelli m3, and that made me happy, even though it makes less damage than the sawed off..) i'm starting to think that they don't really exist and that you are trolling us (indeed this is a serious question, can i find a silencer for my shotgun?)
its not fun to open endless boxes ALWAYS finding the same stuff.. gun powder, bullet tip, brass chandelier, duct tape, ammo supply box, NITRATE in ridicolous quantites.. what the hell? is this a damn hi tech genetic research facility or a grocery store in the middle east?? it breaks the immersion and makes the game artificially harder than necessary
in short, your mod is amazing feature-wise and I will keep playing it (like a slot machine at this point) but i can't understand the reasoning behind certain choices.. at this point, make guns and ammo as rare as those items and steep the curve even more so that at least it makes sense. Or make sure that in every one of this big important POis you can find an item of certain value and rarity, not the most rare but at least reasonably so.
I support your work and I hope this constructive criticism helps you in any way, thank you and sorry for the wot but i wanted to give you this feedback!
You are going to want to find the halicopter recipe that is commented out in recipes.xml and remove the <!-- --!> from around it to enable it.So I wanna play with the halicopter but not sure how to enable it. I found the recipes.xml and stuff but nothing says it’s disabled or turned off. I’m not sure exactly how to go about turning it back on then. Can someone help me?
Congrats on the wrench find! Level 12 on day 11? You're still a ripe ole babe in the woods. Be lucky you found one let alone two.
