PC Pre-Release Streaming Weekend Event -- A18 edition

In reality its not so much of the pvp action PVP server owners want to see: the pvp community just needs one or two streamers to test pvp known bugs to give the pvp community an idea what has been fixed or hasn't goin into a18. I mean lets gets real Faatal does a wonderfull job of fixn what he can but without actually playing on a pvp server for extended time a pve player has no clue what the pvp population has to deal with. Alot of the pvp bugs are simply things pve players dont see or wouldnt even care about.

 
Agreed, but tfp has said time and again they have little interest in pvp. MM has hinted about pvp development later on though, so who knows.

Either way, 99% of the issues with pvp could be modded and fixed, but pvp represents such a SMALL PORTION of the overall community, no one cares to do it.

There is a CTF mod that just came out though... and I had a PvP server using custom mods and an arena once... <shrug>

there is no mod that fixs vehicles from ignoring another players lcb land , there is no mod that stops players from xraying , there is no mod that stops players from the unlimited item use on toolbelt, there is no mod that keeps players from duping vehicles .. i mean i can go on and on ....

Those are just generic bugs that aren't at all specific to PvP. I thought you had specific PvP bugs to discuss. Those are generic, just report them on the bug thread like everyone else does. <shrug>

I don't see this ever happening. Sorry. That's not broken and needs no fix. If someone's LCB prevented me from driving over his protected land THAT would be the bug needing a fix. If you know someone can use their vehicle in certain ways within your landclaim area then account for that in your design.

ON TOPIC: The A18 Streaming event will NOT be this weekend but next weekend is looking very hopeful. Barring anything disastrous and provided they plug the memory leak(s) we should have a fun first weekend of September ahead of us. I should know by around Tuesday if it will not be next weekend and will be sure to let you know for lots of disappointment. But I feel hopeful!

I have plans already laid out for my next youtube channel which will focuse on 7D2D once A18 drops. I only play on PVP servers so be assured what you suggested will happen happen. I've also spoken to a few big time youtubers and if they end up liking A18 they plan on streaming and making content for it. 2 of them I know love pvp type games so if they get hooked, they will be making tons of vids on online PVP for this game. I also plan on doing extensive "bug hunting" for A18 and providing detailed reports to the Q&A testers.

Although Madmole has stated publicly TFP are not exactly concerned with pvp at this time, know that they do still look in to PVP.

Back when A17 first dropped I helped get a few detailed reports to the Q&A guys and gal and those issues got addressed and fixed for online play. Rest assured PVP is not ignored.

He's probably talking about using how you exit vehicles to go through an LCB protected wall.

Let me explain: Vehicle exit coordinates are in the vehicle XML file, and they're basically "have your player appear 2 or 3 blocks from the left door", so if you park your vehicle against an LCB protected wall, with the left door right up against it, you will teleport beyond said wall when you exit.

Aight chiming in off topic ;) . Its about the protection of LCB's not working against vehicles. So you can use your jeep to bang and destroy the base walls (or anything you like).

It doesn't make any sense. Every streamer has the option to run a PvP game, it's their choice that they do not. There is nothing stopping anyone from streaming PvP...

...so I don't get what you're advocating for, other than "because PvP is so insanely unpopular in 7days and no one wants to play it much less stream it, y'all should allow one of the 6 people who DO play PvP access so that the other 5, er 4 since I guess at least one has to be in game for it to be PvP, can watch it and look to see if any PvP bugs are worked out instead of waiting 3 days to do so."

And I'm pro PvP, I'm not trying to be insulating, I just don't get it. No one is preventing PvP streams except its own inherent lack of popularity.

That has been fixed by faatal. You exit the vehicle from any unblocked side--even front back or top if the sides are blocked. I'm actually surprised that fix didn't make it into 17.3 or 17.4 since I remember the dev discussion of it quite awhile ago....

This Friday is out, so sometime beyond that. Given the long weekend and we want to ship a very high quality build on the first experimental, its probably mid to late September. There are 51 MF's. 2.5 weeks from now feels possible, so I'd GUESS AT THE SOONEST, Friday the 13th it hits streamers. Again, it might not drop until October so don't be saying "madmole promised blah blah blah" when this is just an estimate. Its done when its done.
There is a memory leak after about an hour of play and RWG crashing on generating 8k maps for older hardware. 4k maps have some visual fugly like roads hitting a brick wall. So we've got some work to do, but we're getting it there. No point in shipping with known nasties. Just because I had a great test last night doesn't mean there isn't showstoppers to fix.
