PC Pre-Release Streaming Weekend Event -- A18 edition

I know 2 streamers and it's a lot of work, not just a press the record button while you play. One streamer actually quit because it was too much work to prepare, read and answer comments, etc.; no free time for just about anything else. The other streamer sadly passed away earlier this year (DianddraD). I used to play with DianddraD and was lucky to try out A17 on the streamers weekend with her and Beelzybub last year. It was a blast!
You can go and play the Forest if you want, but we'll play A18 tomorrow. You'll be missing out on some greatness for sure.

I used to watch the both of you play on her livestreams, she really loved the game, sad to hear of her passing.

I am going give his negative review a negative review. The guy needs to take a nap, tomorrow it will all be fine. We've found some nasty stuff we're working on so its been good to do this IMO.

 
i was on a discord with 7 people 2 did not have the game and when they found out streamers got the build for a entire weekend before everyone else they said they will not buy it

Heard it all before, its an old argument that was done to death the first time around. My biggest gripe with it is not the fact the streamers get it early, its having to listen to the monotonous junk rhetoric in opposition to it over and over, every time a new version is released...

Idk i am changing my steam review to not recommended over this, maybe when they get flooded with bad reviews they will stop doing this dumb streamer stuff. I paid just as much, I probably have more hours put in with 4757 hours played, and have waited just as long.. Just because game4kickz showed his boobs on stream and became known doesn't mean i should have to wait longer.. Off to play the forest to forget about this game for a while.

You would have waited until Monday even if streamers didn't get an early preview. No sane software company releases a new version on the weekend, or Fridays.

Wow, you're looking for something that isn't there.

I don't care either way about the streamers, don't watch them, don't care if they're playing. I'm not going to be playing until late this week, possibly next, so pretty much everyone will enjoying it before me.

My original point was that suggesting a surplus of bug reports from the public is somehow unmanageable doesn't really stand up to scrutiny given that the same situation is only delayed by a matter of 72 hours.

I think the point he is trying to make is that it is a lame excuse to say that you are releasing it to streamers "to help you find bugs." Even you have said in the past you released to streamers to build hype. Then after that blow back it was to help find bugs, but we know that isn't the real reason.

Jeez people, they're both good reasons. I am eager to play just as much as everyone else, TFP has done more than enough to try and explain their reasons when they really do not have to in the first place. Beating this dead horse just dissuades them from interacting on the forums, don't ruin a good thing and just be patient already. Please, for your own good, as well as the rest of us, and especially the devs, just drop it. Especially since we have less than 24 hrs to go now. Just be excited, and have fun tomorrow.

 
It has nothing to do with me, and it's even none of my business, but every time I see someone complaining about the streamers having access before others, I feel embarrassed for some reason.

It's just so petty to complain about a few days.

I kinda want them to delay release an additional day or two with an announcement stating that they delaying the release because of all the entitled, impatient, spoiled brats.

You give people a forum to voice opinions, and they automatically assume that TFP's business becomes some sort of democracy waiting for their vote of approval on how it is conducted.

The media doesn't stream it to 1000's of viewers when they get it either, they just review it without spoilers. You can argue all you want but bottom line is this is a big middle finger to us.

Word. And a ton of TFP staff has even been putting in a ton of time that past few days, when none of them have to. Hours watching, interacting, answering questions on streams, and even working on bug fixes, all on a weekend.

They shouldn't after all that have to come to the forums and continue to deal with this obnoxious childlike impatience. I for one am super grateful, some people just need to learn some patience and be glad TFP has nerves of steel, and hopefully realize the majority of us do indeed appreciate it sincerely.

I think the wording of the streamer event is the real issue.

It should just be called a FunPimps prerelease party with dev in streams, and include a handful of passwords for some of the community standouts so they can jump in streams.

I would have loved seeing Guppy, stompyz, Jax or several others in streams, and that would make the fan community feel more included.

It's just a pr spin change, but it sounds better, IMHO.

The bickering about it at every alpha release is tiring though, and instead of everyone happy and celebrating, the forum has been disheartening this weekend.

I get that, and understand the disappointment to you personally. I'm sure they get it to, it would help to know that as well. Thing is to realize it does no good, none, to badger them about it after they've gone much, much, further than any dev I know of to explain the reasoning behind it, and there are multiple, valid, reasons.

Putting in as much dedication as they do is not something you want to tarnish, this game would be nowhere near as good as a result. So grab a snickers, find something else to do, and soon enough you'll be back in our beloved apocalypse punching grass, throwing spears, and hunting for book 7 to get your bonus perk.

A18 looks awesome and you'll have it soon, if the timing with your personal life is off, well that's life, we all have our battles to fight and restrictions to deal with. At least keep your grumps to yourself, they're valid enough, just some advice we all tend to learn the hard way. I've had to deal with my short-fuse ginger temper all my life, and yes I have regretted lashing out, many times. It didn't stop until I faced and dealt with it. Here all you're doing is irritating the devs and the rest of us, which helps no one, including you. At least A18 is ready to go now, so be happy! I am:)
