Content isn’t enough—not at the rate at which it is consumed.
The optimizing player would find the one best gun and ignore the other 99 and quickly grow bored with the one viable weapon.
The optimizing player would only use the best shapes and ignore the rest. We saw the proof of this when TFP briefly reduced the hp of several block types. Immediately we had people stating they would never use those blocks again. Why, if they were builders? Answer: more than builders they were optimizers.
The optimizing player will burn through however much content is added in a rush and immediately return to boredom.
I wish I could see your Polish video. Maybe it would convince me.
1. Valheim is good example about that ( i would give as example RE4 too but this is not sandbox). You want X first you have to get Y,Z etc. So often to get this one gun you have to get some stuff be able to defeat enemy. So let say the best 7DTD gun is in safe in military bunker . DO you want to get this gun? fine but you have to kill 20 wight. Oh you can do it? but gun is in locked safe. destroy by pickaxe? boom autodestruction protocol bye bye. So you have to collect code - but you have to check 3 diffrents location so... get this gud will be your "ultimate" target. But you can ignored rest of guns. Why? because this gun need experimental ammo and you can find only in lab crates. So you will be not bored because it will be like broken butterfly in RE4 - OP guns but 99% time you don't have this type of ammo.
2. i mean by builders people who focus on making nice looking building - you know this type of players who builids London, anor londo, Sauron tower etc in MC . I see a lot of people want new shapes , colours etc not "exploiters". If number of shapes etc was just 10% of current number of shapes it would be fast became boring for them
3. This depends on person - for me even new models of zombies give me motivation to play ( Painkiller, CoD). Well this is stupid thing because 7DTD could have tons of mechanics, workbenches etc but if there would be only 10 models of zombie this would be so boring game for me, in this same time i love L4D2 because... well this game is simple but you don't have "clone wars" syndrome ( except Seriouse sam but here is a lot of types of enemies and in KILLING FLOOR this same type of clone have diffrent model depend on map - like painkiller
4. Well about boredom hm... i can get the best guns in cod bw in zombie mode but if number of enemy model is good enough it is still "fresh" for me. But when i have to fight with 10 this zombie during 5 minutes i don't see point of playing this game. So honestly if 7dtd would have 3-4x more variants of zombies if woudn't complain too much about rest of the game. Why? because if i have feeling that i'm doing something i don't spend time on looking what isn't suit here ( for example - gun x don't suit into this Call to arm ostfront map but i don't care about that because 99% looks good but in this same time 1 bad placed gun in Vanguard looks horrible).
5. Ok as a proof - this one
Small information : check 2:04- 3:07, 5:44 - 7:02, 8;42-9:39
I can translete as best as i can if you want.
6. Well for me the 'best " weapon problem in 7dtd in my opinion is connected with perks. Because "all weapons are equal" ( with small exception of junk MG which is better that rest) makes problem that there is no point to use everything. If shotgun was much much more powerful but ammo would be rare and low this would be " desparate " weapon, if MG ammo would be expensive and gun will have low durability this will make MG as antihorde/ T4-T5 POI weapon. I undestand that TFP wanted to make 7dtd as 'tutorial" before hard mods but damn.... i hope another 7DTD unvierse game will have more content and harder ( well difficulty is connected with content sometimes - harder game = more workbench versions, materials etc )
