PC NVIDIA SLI profile (BITS) NOW FOR 19.1 Alpha

It would be nice to get some info from fatal or someone who could tell us if it's even possible to have sli scale positivly. I think madmole may have discussed it sometime but he works on mostly the art side of things.

Yeah, I am a bit surprised faatal hasn't poked his head in here yet. :) maybe he just doesn't tinker with SLI much. It is kind of a niche market.

i just tried sfr and it worked much better i went from 32 (single GPU) to 40 (2 GPU Sli), better but still even that 25% increase isn't worth it i think it's just cpu limited and just can't feed 2 1080ti's fast enough. I'll need to play with it some more with different settings.

what settings? u used a sli bit for SFR or u just changed rendering mode in the nvidia inspector leaving the bits i've choosed?

;)
Game is heavily CPU bound.
this is probably also the reason because i got scaling but im not using ultra ultra settings with all cranked, or the game will just stay at 40 fps at max due to my ♥♥♥♥ty cpu (i7-2600k)

I just changed mode in Nvidia inspector leaving your bits. Generally increasing settings in video option will put more load on the gpu

im assuming this is happening:

the game is so cpu bound that while increasing resolution may fill gpu usage the cpu literally can't manage to do the job so quick and the fps drop a lot.

using maxed out settings you showed my profile (sli enabled) had no impact at all on fps, i tried with ultra then a high-ultra mix removing DOF that kill sli in some cases and SS reflections, plus motion blur disabled, the gpu usage increased and also the fps scaled as the screenshots i have posted before, the real difference was in average fps and max fps, while the same spot sametimes show no difference at all if the gpu 1 is already waiting for cpu.

the sli bits are for unity games like space engineers and empyrion.

I used ultra setting for the test because if it scaled positively increasing video settings would put more load on the gpu thus if it worked would allow higher quality settings at the same or better fps. I'll need to run some proper benchmarks to get more conclusive results to draw from since right now it's all just speculation but i'm on "garden fence duty" today lol so i might not get round to it today.

Ok i have the first benchmark results.

settings:The first test will be maxed settings 4K except motion blur and texture streaming disabled: https://imgur.com/5z6qUQm

The test is around 7-9 Minutes long running a lap through and around Diresvile in Nav:https://imgur.com/KC1ubpV

Sli Config: Using MasterGods Profile except GPU Count Changed 4 > 2 and rendering mode AF2 > SFR

Additional Notes:I also increased the view distance (12) and fov (90) and fullscreen is enabled:https://imgur.com/LZXCWVd

The game was restarted between tests and the time of day was reset before benchmarking. Also to note in the single gpu test the gpu's clocks were slightly higher due to gpu boost having slightly more thermal headroom low 1900's > high 1800s.

System Secs:

I7 6700K @ 4.6Ghz

16gb ddr4 3600Mhz

2x Evga GTX 1080ti's @ stock clocks

1x Samsung SM951 512Gb M.2 SSD (OS & 7dtd),2x WD Green raid 1,1x crucial mx300 ssd 2tb

Windows 10 Pro 64 bit, 7DTD A17.4 b4

Single GPU:

Min:18 FPS

Max:57 FPS

Avg: 40 FPS

2 GPU SLI:

Min:18 FPS (+o%)

Max:70 FPS (+22.81%)

Avg: 49 FPS (+22.5%)

I'll do another test with more sensible video settings next.

Test 2 everything the same but with different video settings

Settings:https://imgur.com/9bdQre6

Single GPU:

Min:50 FPS

Max:68 FPS

Avg: 62 FPS

2 GPU SLI:

Min:56 FPS (+12%)

Max:119 FPS (+75%)

Avg: 95 FPS (+53%)

So from these numbers it seems SFR is the way to go. From testing i've done in the past the game is very cpu bound and adding more gpu resources further ties down the cpu. So i would recommend having a recent cpu with strong single core performance that can be overclocked to get as much extra performance out of sli as possible if you plan on using it. overclocking my cpu alone gave me around 10%-20% more performance. I'm due for a upgrade tho i might wait a bit until intel and amd show their hands in the next 6ish months instead of just getting a 9900K then they come out with something better a month or 2 later lol. It also seems that one or more of the video options don't scale well at all with sli possibly reflections? i'd need to test some more.

As far as I am aware, there has never been an optimization pass on reflection, or reflected shadows. That wouldn't surprise me.

First thing I always recommend turning off to improve FPS.

so the bad things i was supposing are right xD

where's dx12 developers? xD

I'm pretty sure it was just gpu count and rendering mode, Didn't your video's msi afterburner overlay show 3 gpu? or is 1 an IGPU?

Impossible. DX11 only supports implicit mgpu.

one is a hd6970 for a vm that i use, it wont count in sli rendering due to lack of sli connection (sli bridge) im using hb bridge, sfr in teory works only with dx12

just tried my profile and ur profile:

AFR2: 87 Fps watching a heavy fortified base with a lot of lights (2k) almost everything at max (no ss or dof, lod 100% and reflections at high with reflected shadows on)

SFR: 87 Fps same spot, same settings.

a bit disappointing

Are you sure? there are form post concerning sfr on nvidia's forms dating back to 2005 and thats long before dx12 was even a twinkle in microsoft's eye.
