[MOD A17] Better Balance Mod

v1.4 updated in the OP (60 BBM version only so far)

I keep trying to balance the stamina use out and v1.3 just caused the stamina blackout of the bar to be a hair too fast for me so rolled it back to v1.2 behavior. It means the bar won't blackout quite as fast and need constant hydration. It's a marginal differences but it feels better like this, another play through is needed though to confirm.

  • Tweaked stamina use (again)
  • Upped mining rewards (again)
  • Improved block upgrade speed of stone axe, hammer and nailgun, far too slow in vanilla for builders!
  • Trying to balance traders (needs a lot more testing)
    -Reduce pricing gouging
-Even out extreme in price range from lvl 1 to 6 items

Hey, the experimental increments come so fast I've a question: Can you put the working 7d2d build your mods work on ?

I really want to try these changes but I'm affraid they're not for the current build and it'll break everything (in subtle ways).

Thanks.

@SurvivalUK

Looking at the OP of stuff to look into, a tip on the To Do list:

Adding old school schematics vs the new perk lock on crafting recipes:

- remove tags for item in progression.xml

- add in a new schematic (Tasting and Brewing is a good example for base code)

Good point! I've updated the OP and can confirm latest v1.4 is balanced to work with the B240 / stable release.

I do recommend starting a new game or at the very least backing up any existing games before starting any overhaul type mod (just good practice). As for this mod the biggest benefit really is to start from fresh if you've not used it before. It changes how you can progress within the game and build your character / world. You can add it to an existing game but you'll have missed out on a lot doing so (imo).

Thanks for that! It's something i'd planned to do earlier now the core elements are in but the flip flopping of the devs with the direction of progression has made me cautious.

One to look at over Christmas while enjoying a mince pie and a glass of wine me thinks :D

This is great, thank you. Ended up removing all zombie nerfs, headshot damage, bow damange, crossbow load time and a couple other things. Removed level gate for the first 2 tiers of everything and dropped level gate of everything else about 50%. Waiting for someone to migrate the recipes back into books and find a fix for this one dimensional progression. May be an endless battle and a lost cause with how TFP are trying to constantly mainstream the game lately.

In concur, the one mod i'm desperately looking for is one that vaults the Intelligence tree and brings back books and a more organic way of crafting higher quality tools/weapons.

I install this mod but when i create game, loading stuck on initializing game, i add ss:

Hmm, shouldn't be the mod!

Before starting your new game press F1 on the console and then launch. It should show any errors during the launch process, there are also logs in your 7DTD folders with the same output.

Very much a mid term plan if TFPs stick with the progression system they put in.

Not sure what is left of the mod but that's the point of all the annotations to pick and choose hehe!

I have v1.5 with the level gating gone completely and just getting a feel for it before releasing it.

Don't even get me started on the last line on your post... FO4 / Skyrim clone incoming and well away from its roots imo.

First merry Christmas to you too!

For modlets you need to create a folder within your 7 Days folder called mods then in there extract the Better Balance folder from the archive.

e.g.

xxxxxx\7 Days to Die\Mods\Better Balance Mod\

The localisation.txt file from the archive does need to overwrite the stock file inside of 7 Days to Die\config\data\.

If you haven't done it already right click 7 Days within Steam and click properties, local files and then verify your files to put everything back to stock. Once you've done that just check everything works ok, once confirmed extract the file as the above.

I'll pop up a screen grab in a bit :)

Create the mods folder and drag the Better Balance Mod folder from the archive into it

After extraction the folder structure should look like this

2018-12-24-20-55-58-Clipboard.jpg

And the localisation.txt file goes here overwriting the default file
