Locking Up On Motocycle

So 1.0 does it too :(

9+ hour game play today before it happened.

Update :

I've run OCCT (Temperature / CPU intensive) and Unigine_Heaven (CPU / Graphics intensive) stress tests and no problems were found.

I started a 1.4 game on a Windows 10 VM (VM is on an external Drive) which is running on the same Windows 11 Computer that I've had all the game freezes on.

Doing this to somewhat isolate Win 11 and my secondary SSD (game drive) in case there are issues with it (SSD).

Noticed something odd today.

If you look at this map, you can see my Motorcycle is marked on the left (Red Rectangle), but I'm currently riding my Motorcycle as highlighted on the right (Red Rectangle).

The "Motorcycle" location will not move as long as I'm on the Motorcycle, even though my actual position changes and updates.

Once I get off of the Motorcycle the "Motorcycle" tag location updates to my actual position.

I can consistently see this behavior and have tested it several times (need to go check the 1.0 game).

This probably explains why when I resume a frozen game (and Motorcycle is not lost) that I'm not on the Motorcycle and why it is some distance from me (previous path).

I'm wondering if this is related to the freezes I've experienced (assuming CPU is good) ?

Still testing, but I haven't had any solid freezes yet. My biggest issue is "Task Scheduler" keeps starting up Services that I've turned off.

This happens with bicycles too, its common, I assume, the game puts a marker on the map everytime you get off. This marker remains an amount of time, even when you get on again and ride away.

Added another stress test to the list - Intel IPDT.

All tests passed.

BTW - all games have / are being run with EAC disabled (have had issues with EOS noted elsewhere).

Base machine :

i7 13700KF

64 GB RAM

4070 TI

Windows 11

VM (VMWare Workstation Pro 17.5) :

8 CPU's configured

22 GB RAM + 8 GB video emulation (30 GB allocated)

7200 RPM External Drive

Windows 10 Enterprise 2016 LTSB

Gameday 47 - frozeup lock (7D2D not responding) while on Motorcycle shortly after entering Desert.

VM was still running fine, and could ALT - TAB (within VM) to review Task Manager processes / services.

If the CPU is flaky, I would think the VM would have been taken out

I have another 1.4 game on a Linux Ubuntu 22.04 VM that I've got several gamedays on with basically the same configs as the Win 10 VM.

There are some odd graphical oddities (occasional colored lines) on this game when I have the Crossbow selected, so I don't know if this is even worth testing.

Since this is on a VM it's pretty much out of scope I would think, but here's the last four minutes of the log anyway (don't see anything crazy) :

Linux VM - just had this pop.

Everything still working fine, don't know what this is :

Kind of need the whole log.

Use Pastebin, don't just drop it into the message.  Instructions on how to do this are PINNED, and tell you to read it before posting.

You're running it in a VM? That will definitely cause issues. The VM also has a hard drive I see, which would also compound IO bottleneck

I've used Pastebin once, and have no idea what my credentials / password for it are anymore - not really motivated to create another account.

Interestingly, once the game / textures are all loaded / compiled, I'm not really seeing any Disk IO on the Linux VM.

Now the Windows VM is another story, entirely too many process running that intermittently hit the HD, sometimes pretty hard.

These last two instances have been run on VM's as on my secondary SSD the game has the issue I've been tracking.

At this point, this is all for my testing to isolate possible issues, doubt there will be another update to 1.x before 2.0 comes out.

So, linux VM, day 51 - game freeze / lockup while on Motorcycle (VM still running fine).

If it really is the CPU, there's no way I can prove it at this point for an RMA as it happens so infrequently and it passes all the stress tests I've thrown at it.

Fair amount of hardware has been ruled out, only real option remaining would be to try this on my Laptop, which I don't really want to do   .   .   .

You don't need an account. You can post as a guest and share the link. I do it all the time when people make a wall of text here so I don't have them on my account history.

Not so sure if that's a good sign. Unless nobody is connected or it's just one player afk, there should be near constant data being written/read, especially when loading chunks as you're driving around. In fact that's what is causing your stuttering and freezing while riding a vehicle. What is going on is your player is moving faster than the server can load/unload chunks for you, usually it's system storage speed but sometimes it could be cpu or ram, which I don't think the latter is the case for you, but it could be seeing as it's running in a VM. VMs always have a natural bottleneck in data transport.
