Totally agree. Very enjoyable and with 2.5 it will be even more.He should play the game when it is good, not when it hits an arbitrary number. And it is good, so, so good. And very sooner even better.

I think people focus bookstores because they are just as hard as any other POI. Think of it this way. If you are playing an RPG would you skip to the last boss? It may be possible but it would be difficult. The same thing would apply here. I am asking for appropriate POI level design that would facilitate such changes and the accompanying difficulty included.I get why some people want that kind of thing for the different types of POI, but I really don't like how that would impact gameplay. People already focus on bookstores. And when clothing items were available, they focused on the clothing stores a lot as well.
I 100% understand and agree that you don't want people beelining bookstores, clothing stores, mailboxes. That being said there will inevitably always be a "best" option for progression you just shift what is considered best. I think it would give players something to strive towards. With things being spread around everywhere, it makes it worth doing any POI. If you make it so certain POI are always better, people are just going to do those POI and ignore the rest of them most of the time. I don't think that's a good thing.
Well they do offer great value. Would you still stop early on if they were more difficult than other POIs in the same tier? What if they had a guaranteed wight spawn? You could presumably still risk it and maybe make it out with a few books but venturing too far could end your run.Just looking at my own gameplay, I don't really min/max. I'll just play in whatever way I find fun and I don't care if it's the "best" way or if it is "meta". But I will still stop at any bookstore I see when I'm running around towns questing or exploring or scavenging. I still go to other POI often, but I'll always stop at a bookstore. And that's from someone who isn't min/maxing to any real extent and doesn't consider the magazines to be a bad thing or difficult to find like some others think. I don't go out of my way to find bookstores unless I'm really in need of a specific magazine to be able to craft something, but I always stop.
sorry, but, 2.8? how delayed is 3.0 going to be?
Yes, I would. I might not do that on day 1, but it doesn't take long before I can handle even wights. If you know how to fight, you can handle harder enemies without much trouble. And just being more difficult doesn't mean I'm not going to do something. I've gone into tier 5 POI with a low quality iron spear. I might even have done it with a high quality wooden spear a few times. It depends on the POI, though. Some aren't really possible that early, while others are. I wouldn't do that with the quarry, for example... at least, not the entire quarry (some can easily be done early).Well they do offer great value. Other vending machine suggestions:We're adding sandbox options in 2.8. I added "Vending machines are broken" as an option due to your suggestion, although that will make candy obsolete unless we add a way to find it. I mainly like the elixers but the rock busters and salvage ones are great. We already have trader options planned as well as item archtype abundancy options so you'll be able to fine tune to your hearts content what your idea of balance should be, and yes, this should help us balance the discrepancy between sp and mp.
Able to loot broken vending machines to get ether candy, snacks or drinksOther vending machine suggestions:
- broken vending machines should have a chance to return a random assortment of candies when wrenching it down
- working vending machines out in the wilderness should take old cash instead of dukes and should not restock
- machines inside traders should take dukes and restock
Or old cashAble to loot broken vending machines to get ether candy, snacks or drinks
@Roland appreciate the response. Are you telling me that the bandits AI is being refined right now? or is it true that the guy who works on the AI still has other tasks to do before he can get back to working on the AI full time, getting them game ready? The art models being done is something, it will save some time down the road, but, it is not the AI...which is the thing that has held them up for many years. Sorry to nitpick, but, there is a big difference between the 3.0 artwork being worked on, and the thing that animates their intelligence being written and refined. That's the most important part.
Thanks, I already knew that it was faatal, that was my point, he's still working on other stuff and not the AI. to me the only truly important part of 3.0 IS the Bandits, the rest is gravy. I hope he doesn't mind me asking him if he is going to be exclusively tasked to working on the AI, from here on out. That’s Faatal. You can ask him that question in the dev diary. I don’t know anyone’s schedule unless they happen to mention it as Lee did. I know Faatal is eager to get back to bandit work but only he can say whether his 2.x responsibilities will be mostly done with 2.5
It isn't capped anymore. That was removed again in 2.1, I believe.Curious? If loot stage is capped why haven't cities or very large towns returned to the forest and burnt biome?
Try to keep up or spewing negativity becomes a joke.Curious? If loot stage is capped why haven't cities or very large towns returned to the forest and burnt biome?
Sorry was a mistake meant to say isn't my fault for not paying attention. Either way if the loot isn't capped there isn't much reason not to add cities and large towns back to the forest or burnt biomes.Try to keep up or spewing negativity becomes a joke.
The reason is they still want biome progression and that allows it. You can always change your biome map if you don't like it if on PC. Just paint it so the large towns are in the forest if that's what you want. There are also probably mods available that edit the rwgmixer.xml file to place large towns in the forest since that's really easy to mod.Sorry was a mistake meant to say isn't my fault for not paying attention. The game lacks balance settings. Take loot, for example. The current mechanics make solo play and PvP very comfortable. But trading in PvE is simply ruined. Right now, you mostly only get what you need, so trading is pointless. A "random loot" setting would be really helpful for servers, meaning loot that doesn't depend on your skill level. Then maybe trading would come back to life.Either the balance and funtion of this game is aimed at single player or its focused on multi-player it can not be both. They need to focus on single player only and if those who play multi-player want balance they can adjust all the settings they need to meet server demands.
You yourself said it best. The survival needed to come back and you enjoy the updates. Those take time to implement. So naturally there will be delays. I think it's a little unreasonable to demand changes then get upset when other updates get pushed back because of it. For now keys be happy we got a very very good update of experimental is anything to go by.I am looking forward to 2.5...it has the potential to make the game enjoyable FOR ME again. 2.8 implies there is a 2.6 and a 2.7 before there is a 2.8....that's a lot of time. You may remember that I swore to not question ANYONE about how long 3.0 and Bandits were taking until Q4 2026. Because a year seemed like a "reasonable" amount of time to give TFP to work on them with no complaints from me. That time is getting eaten up. Is it going to be spring before they get those changes done? I will remind you that I feel like I got screwed into this never ending schedule, TFP sold me on a schedule WITH ■■■■ING DATES...it was a achievable appearing timeline...and all that time is used up, Storm's Brewing isn't finished and according to @madmole it is going to take 3 more 2.xes before we are going to be commenting at each other in a 3.0 forum. That is infuriating. I didn't sign on for a never ending development schedule. The idea of 1.5 years plus up to 6 months for problems, was more EA than I wanted, but, There was a clear plan...with timelines. In case it is not clear to you...I avoid EA games like the plague. I only made an exception for this game because of the clearly laid out timeline WITH DATES.
There are few things I want more, than for this game to be FINALLY finished, and to never have to speak to most of you ever again.
The only thing I can think of is progression as others have stated. You start off in a smaller town and move towards larger cities.Sorry was a mistake meant to say isn't my fault for not paying attention.
